on location in southern KY, exploring the gems you find along the way. However, I may not have the flow of rivers described accurately at the end of the video.
I am a double Begley. My mom and biological father were both Begley. From what I am told the Hazard Perry Co. Begleys were refered as the White Eyed Begleys and my mom the Leslie County set of Begleys were called the Short Buckle Begleys. I did some research on the Begley name which comes from Ireland and the Short Buckle Begleys manufactured Shoe buckles in the early 1700s.
My family, From Harlan would come there sell produce, then go to Hazard then Whitesburg Cumberland, then back to harlan I can’t remember the name of it. Johnny’s market used to be a big market back then in the 50s do you remember that? Save A Lot store Road that used to be the road to go to Hazard is it still open to go that way? Thanks.
My hometown, lived on Rockhouse til we moved to Southern Indiana. That is still my home!
According to the 1970 census, Leslie County was the poorest county in the nation.

Wow has changed a lot. ❤️ Definitely remember the Sizemore’s. My family is the Begley’s. Such a beautiful place.
My grandmother was a Begley. Lived on Lower MacIntosh creek, Wooton.
