Being a drummer just makes this even more impressive to me! So smooth and quick! Very talented guy. Unique style too which is fun! Maybe top ten guy...
Guy loves 6/8 and syncopation and implied poly with Swiss triplets and tempo changes... He is a Jazz drummer at heart who went through the extreme gauntlet of grindcore lol And yes one of the best hands down
I got to hang out with Jukka too, real privilege to see them live and get to talk to them. I love how personable metal musicians are a lot of the time, really down to earth.
Relative to any discipline, what he does with his feet in the first few seconds is more accomplished than what anyone can hope to achieve in a lifetime.
Yup, the new Nightwish album is going to sound bloody great with this master on the kit. I didn't imagine Jukka could be replaced, but actually yes, with his good friend Kai.
You all probably dont give a damn but does anyone know a way to log back into an Instagram account..? I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any assistance you can give me.
@Brody Uriel thanks for your reply. I got to the site through google and im waiting for the hacking stuff now. Seems to take quite some time so I will reply here later with my results.
@ 5:02 "Ok, now you do it" ... :o It's almost insane how someone can do stuff like this, there isn't many drummer's this level.. And damn how it looks so easy :D
@@Pizzagoblin I guess the closest you get in songs is some Wintersun music. Here's an example of one song on a live gig: ruclips.net/video/08_PduSKNWU/видео.html
I don’t know if you are up to date, your comment is three years old, but Wintersun has Time II brought out. In my case it was a download. You got all the players their parts separately. Also the instrumental tracks of the songs.
Kai is one the best metal drummers. Is far best than the last drummer. De hecho es una pena que esté en una banda de mierda como Nightwish. Totalmente desaprovechado.
I wonder what this was for, because this is long before he started filling in for Jukka as far as I know, but those guitars certainly look like Emppu's guitars to me.
@Baiko This was a combined guitar and drum clinic in Ylivieska, Finland by Teemu Mäntysaari and Kai Hahto. They also gave lessons to those who were interested afterwards.
I don't know if anyone actually plays like that, do you have any examples? I mean playing fast double bass in nearly inaudible volume. I think it would need some pretty good control over the pedals with regular settings.
And two guitars in case he wants to become godlike on them as well... Which makes me wonder, playing with Jari so much, has he taught Kai to play guitar?
When it comes to metal, all I care about is that I can actually hear the drums. Over triggering your set with plastic bucket sounds ala Hell Hammer sucks, but using triggers to give the bass drum an edge is all fine by me. You can mix the triggered sound with the original and you can play dynamic stuff with triggers as well. They don't make you play better I'm pretty sure Hahto used triggers with Rotten Sound and Wintersun for example. Who wouldn't want to hear those drums when they play live?
If only Kai taught Lars Ulrich to play drums and the guitarists of Wintersun taught James Hetfield and Kirk hammet how to play and write music, Metallica would be worthy of their commercial success.Of course Rob is in a league of his own.
I wasn't saying the old argument that they make you play faster. Just that I don't like how they sound. The whole idea of tapping the bassdrum just seems kind of lame where if it wasn't triggered nothing would be heard at all.
Basarijalat soittaa demareita, vasenkäsi vasureita, oikea käsi kokoomusta, mutta äänestyskopissa äänestää Perussuomalaisia. Itse keksimäni rumpali-vitsi.

Easily my most favorite drummer. He’s just so talented and interesting. There is so much to enjoy. Mmmmm.
I saw him today at his drum clinic in kouvola and it was intense! Such a nice fella and hell of a lot of talent!
hanged out with these guys in Maryland, Kai one of sickist drummers Ive ever seen!!!

oui c ce que l'ont disais avec annette pour remplace tarja !!!!!!!! a suivre
+David Roupell actually the best what he is doing with nightwish are his live solos :
Kai is Jukka's drumming teacher... In one interview, Jukka says that Kai is the best drummer in Finland.
not only in Finland! i dont know a better drummer even in germany
seriously one of the best
Old grindcore drummer. And one of Finlands greatest jazz drummer.
I was thinking there's the jazz in that.
Jazz and metal, why put boundaries :)

@Brody Uriel It did the trick and I finally got access to my account again. I'm so happy:D
Thanks so much you saved my ass !
amazing.. Kai, now you have fans from Indonesia
j'ai eu l'honneur de le voir sur scène,
un monstre dans l'immensité du métal;
l'un des meilleur si ce n'est le meilleur \m/
He's so good it's unreal.
Outstanding drummer
Kai Hahto for president!
He's just as he was at home, enjoying himself, nothing more, nothing less!
The drumsticks look like radioactive beams! ❤️
Hands down, the best drummer in the world!
No wonder T Laureano gave this guy some serious props. Smashing drummer!!
He's like a drum God !

KAI !!!! THE BEST!!!
This is fun to watch and it got me groovin.
this man has seriously worked on versatility and on the TOMS.
This was a warm up?....Jesus!
Well you don't actually play many songs like this on drums. So it's just a drum solo.
@@Pizzagoblin I guess the closest you get in songs is some Wintersun music. Here's an example of one song on a live gig: ruclips.net/video/08_PduSKNWU/видео.html
This is great! Would love t listen to some solo's like this from the other members of the band.

there are 4 dislikes from those rare people who are allergic to fantastic fucking drumming.
20 now.....Really....!?!?!?!
It's jealosy - they wish they could be half as good.
Hahto does Wintersun without triggers. Unbelievable but true.
Same I don’t use triggers either
What's a trigger ?
@@fg291 I guess one might say it's like a drum "microphone"?? So you can easily control the dynamics and stuff?
God, his double kick drumming is tight. Have never heard his double kick sound sloopy.
When the video started, I thought the sound was from a gunshot... that's amazing
Красавчик!))
Согласен 😁
Kai does not use triggers, he said it himself in one of the videos, with wintersun it is always acoustic, amazing, right? :)
The entire thing is sick but the 2 times he played that small thing at 3:42 - 3:46 was my favorite part :)
No, he said in that video that the clinic there was acoustic, he uses triggers with wintersun in almost every concert.
GOD!!!
Lars Ulrich have to get lessonss from thats Man !!!
Did you see what he was doing with his left foot? Playing double bass and high hat at the same time. At 1:30 and on.
He does the same on 'Sons of Winter and Stars'
Check out "tricks and licks with Kai Hahto"
WOW!!!
Great talent. Welcome to Nightwish Kai.
I hear Harley Davidson in double pedal
But no oil underneath the drumset
Hehe
@@akilrl85 And no loose nuts & bolts ;-)
This guy actually is like the go to guy to get lessons. And they aint too cheap. Guess worth it still :D
Definitely worth it.
And now is 100% official Nightwish drummer.
Jesus those snare rolls...
Wow
Bad ass man..
perse mies
"Yeaaah"
His limb independence is right up there with Thomas Lang. Incredible.
Orgastisen ihanan kuulsota ku ei oo triggeröityä basaria ja paras mahdollinen kaveri vielä nakuttelemassa sitä. :D
OK, Nightwish picked a good replacement
+yowassupbro Personally I was hoping for Tim Zuidberg because his NW drum covers are the best but Kai is great.
Kai is the teacher of the orginal Nightwish drummer
Too good for Nightwish
Kai is one the best metal drummers. Is far best than the last drummer.
De hecho es una pena que esté en una banda de mierda como Nightwish. Totalmente desaprovechado.
Nightwish picked a much better replacement
nutty
Buddy Rich would love this
WHO IS Buddy rich?
Kai has said that he thinks Buddy Rich is the best drummer. 2002 he went to NY to get lessons from Freddie Gruberin and Joe Morello.
2.25 similar beat to cowboys from hell! anyway, this is amazing and rotten sound are amazing. :)
Here I am just trying to maintain a straight 16th dubble-base pattern xD
I wonder what this was for, because this is long before he started filling in for Jukka as far as I know, but those guitars certainly look like Emppu's guitars to me.

how are there any dislikes on this video?
Oh my:O
3:00 what the... OMG
Noticed how he played drum duet from Phil Collins&Chester Thompson there in the end......
WinterNightSunWish...I'm confused...seems like Kai plays all the ultimate complicated parts of these two high-class bands at the same time!
Hahaha winterNightSunWish , good man.
2:15 Sounds a lot like Psycho Holiday
Damn !!!! I can barely tap my fingers on the table.
Such a verbal punisher.
@Cannibalblast I like how you have 3 uploads but 500 plus subscribers!
4:20 Someone give him a nudge, I think he's fallen asleep.
long hair fits that man!
I don't know if anyone actually plays like that, do you have any examples? I mean playing fast double bass in nearly inaudible volume. I think it would need some pretty good control over the pedals with regular settings.
Kai playis Wintersun Sons of Winter double bass like 8 minutes straight :D
And two guitars in case he wants to become godlike on them as well...
Which makes me wonder, playing with Jari so much, has he taught Kai to play guitar?
rotten sound 4 eva!!
3:40 to 4:55
Just a warm UP.
holy shit 1.26

Kai Hahto also plays very nice solo in "The Greatest Show on Earth" by Nightwish:

warm ups or hertas ??
i presume he's warm now
Exactly 😅
if only every death metal drummer played without triggers :\
If only Kai taught Lars Ulrich to play drums and the guitarists of Wintersun taught James Hetfield and Kirk hammet how to play and write music, Metallica would be worthy of their commercial success.Of course Rob is in a league of his own.

Crazy old man 😂
Ya, that's what my warm ups look like too... lol. no.
Most famous drummers are shit if you compare kai
Why?
Ok. Tylko czas leci wszyscy wgapieni a bez automatów nie ma ideałów. Takie granie to szczerze na ali expres.

Tuskin kukaan äänestää persuja...
He clearly dosen't know what triggers are
Sounds like broken washing machine.
This.
He needs to practice some more
