3:25, good lord what a two hander by Murray Craven! Today, that would be talked about for couple days on sports radio, and all the hosts would try to top each other over how outraged they could be.
The 1988 and 1989 Habs had great teams. ‘88 they couldn’t beat Boston and that was the Bruins first win over Montreal in the playoffs in I think 40 plus years. In ‘89 well they made it to the Final but lost to an equally strong Flames team. I remember that Cup Final like yesterday. I was 17 and they were the two best teams in the league. That ‘89 team was arguably one of the strongest Habs teams that I remember in my lifetime.
as it has always been. i loved the segment with the 2 but i think i watched with anticipation that cherry would eventually lay a beating on maclean for all of canada to see. maclean is the prime example of what it means to be a canadian these days - weak, docile and easily managed. the type that even a beta male himself would be embarrassed by.
I do dream that hockey will get back to this level of entertainment. People today get all excited over "the Michigan" meanwhile compare that to a physical event like this match. No comparison
Brad Marsh wearing helmet after being injured the previous month. You wonder if by the time of that game, he noticed the increase of high sticks and elbows to the head area while wearing the helmet, as well as the little cheap shots from behind.
The infamous pre-game brawl from their Wales Conference final series. I loved that ‘87 Habs team. They had a bit of everything. Scoring, skill, speed, toughness, some fighters and leadership. I wanted them to beat Philadelphia so bad but they got their revenge in the ‘89 Wales Final.

i hated canadien`s broadcasts because that second rate color commentator (dick irvin) would often make me comatose from his endlessly boring anecdotes. i`d watch RDS in french even though i can not speak a word of the language.
Flyers put too much energy into building goof teams, which probably cost them a cup or two in the 80’s. Sure they made the Finals twice, but costly penalties and bad coaching decisions by Keenan were their undoing.
Nope. Injuries cost them; if Tim Kerr had played in either ‘85 or ‘87 finals they’d have won at least one. They also missed Brad McCrimmon in the ‘85 finals. You’re right about Keenan, though. His act grew old fast everywhere and he flamed out. Ticks me off he went to the Rangers for one year and won.
@@neilm2794 I had forgotten about big Tim Kerr! You’re right, he was a force: even a superstar with a Cup under his belt if he didn’t have so many injuries.

Miss those times! Good ol' hockey! Born and raised in Montreal I was 9 back then and loved my Habs!!
13 year old me was probably watching this one…great late 80’s rivalry here
Always terrific at the forum ...love the music between plays ...very Canadian experience ❤
Playoff games couldn't hear the P.A. Announcer. So loud.
Great hockey to watch not like today's boring games, not worth watching now.
I stopped watching 2 years ago after being a die-hard Bruins fan for 45 years.
Every game is like the all-star game now. All glory, no guts.
Haven’t seen this kinda hockey in years, I just don’t watch hockey anymore.😢
Big Dave Brown, #21, 👍👍
What a game ! Who says fighting, scoring and tie games weren't exciting 🙄
......
😅😅
Claude Lemieux and Chris Nylan in the same line is gold !
Late 80’s and 90’s will never be equalled for toughness and talent-never

Montreal, best crowd! Love my Habs! Saw many great games at the Forum!
No more good hockey. Gary Bettman was hell-bent on getting rid of the violence.
Both of these teams , with the rosters they had, should've won a couple of Cups. Easily 2 of the best of the Wales conference during the late 80's
Montréal did wn two ; 1986 and 93.

Almost totally different roster in 93 compared to 86-88. Only Roy and carbonneau were around in 93

The good ol days. Remeber this game.
Dave Brown with the goal on Roy
End of the 2nd, Chelios was so worried about the guy behind him, he gave up the puck behind the net, leading to a Flyers goal.
Great hockey them days especially in the Chuck Norris division😂

Since 1993 the hockey is dead in Montreal..., I didn't watch a game since!
How do you know it's dead?
@@danieldubeau2944 No Stanley cup since..., do you need a draw?

Ничего не понимаю. Откуда овертайм в 88 году и это регулярный чемпионат?
I looked it up. seems like in 1983 is when the regular season overtime started. However, if they played the full OT with no score would produce a tie.

Couple bad goals allowed by Roy or they would have won.
80’s goaltending 😂
That’s why Hayward became the Habs starting goalie in the 88 playoffs
Hayward ended up playing the majority of the playoffs in ‘87. Roy just didn’t look good like he did in ‘86.
