you speak over a million languages, have your own secret language, have long hair, know Japanese martial arts and now you've written three books... are you not the most interesting man in the world?
I would really like to get something on Chinese feudal weaponry. We know a lot about Japanese weapons, but I seriously would like to learn about Chinese arms.
damm, i woud love to read your books! actually i'm creating a fantasy setting myself and i woud love to have a conversation about realism in fantasy and stuff ^^
Same here. I'd like to talk about creating fantasy worlds, since I'm doing just that. But since I'm also studying biology I struggle to make my world as scientifically correct as possible while including magic. Not easy but I would love to talk about it.
Critical7 biology? That's reealy nice, man. I was looking for some biological sketches to Help me visualize certain humanoid species, but i'm not a specialist by far... Just some random disse trying to make fantasy seems kinda plausible xD
Physiology is easy. Just take some random humanoid body, modify a few things and voila. But try to include magic into the biochemistry of a human body. That's where things get interesting. A cell able to absorb magic and use it as energy is highly fascinating and complicated. It opens a new world of possibilities like magic bacteria which cause sicknesses through magic, not chemistry messing with the magic of the host causing the hosts magic to wreak havoc on the body resulting in fever, organ damage, spontaneous discharges of magical energy which manifest in sparks that light fires and the list goes on. Seriously, I lost myself a few times in these theories.
Yes, that can be difficult. especially in my world where magic is everywhere every person can learn how to use it and ghosts are everywhere annoying people, eating the souls of the dead and all that. In the end it boiled down to this: Most of the time using your hands to get something done is easier than to learn how to do it with magic. That way most people would not bother learning advanced magic. But in combining magic with technology anyone could cast extremely advanced and powerful spells. Like FTL-travel in space.
Best and cheapest way to do it is to turn it into Digital Novel like Epub and such. But call me ancient if you will but i choose a physical copy over digital everyday. The feel of holding a physical book and feel its page is better than staring at a computer of phone screen even if I owned it or not.
Horacious Barelian i would choose an real book over an E-Book aswell but simply because i have no more space to store new books i'm really happy that there is something like kindle and whatnot^^
Actually, ANYTHING about Venice. You could do a Venice series, from past to present, present the medicis, the wars, their strategy. Life as a Venetian... gee, that would be great!
I'd even learn Italian just to read your book. I'd be glad about a translation, though, especially one made by the author himself, who happens to be a professional linguist :D Also, I wish I could support you on patreon, but right now, I am working in three different jobs just to be able to afford my studies and don't have much to spare. Hopefully, that changes when I am finished with university, just a bit more than a year left now.
I am very much interested in an English version of this story. Both because I rather enjoy fantasy novels, but also because I am a D&D player/DM and fresh inspiration is always valuable.
I swear that if you do release one or more of your books in English then I would not hesitate to buy it so that I can read it. Your content on Medieval history and armor are absolutely phenomenal and I would love to see how that knowledge was implemented into your books.
"The Sigh of The Forgotten Goddess" sounds really interesting. I would love to read it (though sadly, only English would do, as I don't speak Italian). It would be exceptionally exciting to read a book written by someone who is as versed in historical arms, armor and tactics the way you do.
Axel Tenveils it sucks, go read something else. I'm not ttolling, it was written by a kid who watched too much lord of the rings and thought he could do better. spoiler: he didn't. read something like the shattered sea trilogy by Joe Abercrombie instead
Christopher Paolini, yes the writer was a kid, but the but is really easy going, and with a very well laid out culture. The 1st book may be a bit poorly written, but the 2nd and 3rd one (haven't yet read the 4th) are pretty decent. The story is nice, though nothing extremely original, "mad crazy king who happens to be the last dragon rider went rogue is a tyrant - kid gets a hold of a dragon egg which hatches for him and converts him automatically in a serious threat to the empire - then a cool story happens". Once again, not groundbreaking but fun and easy to follow, you can pick it up occasionally and won't have much trouble remembering the events that occurred previously.
I tore through those during school. Eragon was great, Eldest was fantastic, Brisingr started feeling too...meta? You stop being able to relate with your protagonist and the entire dynamic the protagonist finds themselves in feels too...detached from reality. Roran is always great though.
Hahahaha, I know that feeling. But there's people who like this kinda of fiction. Anime and Manga for example, filled with extreme powerful heroes for "reasons" with no personality. If *this* kind of fiction has its public, I bet you'll do a lot better. Not trying to offend you, sorry if I did.
Don't even worry about that, being "edgy" is a creation of immature keyboard warriors, write whatever you wish, re-read, if you don't like it change it something you like more so. Do not worry about being dumb, this does not entirely exist in fantasy writing, write whatever you want man, don't let others judgment get in the way of you could make you happy and proud
adding to everyone else, I would love to read your novels. Hell I never comment on things but I find this more than worthy to do so. The way you speak of your world building inspires me, as I am in the middle of the very same process of world building and I would be willing to pay almost any price to see stories in such detailed settings.
Is this even a question? Hell to the yes would we like to read a fantasy novel by you! If you do decide to go down this route, maybe it would be a good idea to give a run-down of this universe of yours in the near future? Going over some history, different nations and countries; kings and emperors, religions and wars...man, I'm getting hyped just thinking of the possibilities!
Yup, sign me up! If your writing is as brilliant as your vast knowledge and presentation through your videos, we are in for a treat. Eagerly awaiting the chapter teaser.
So, first of all, I feel I must congratulate you for actually writting AND finishing/polishing these stories, and admit I even feel a bit envious since I tried to write some stories back in the day too but never got around to finishing those. So, seriously, congrats! Now, that said, I would definitely be interested in reading your stories, and If i could even be so bold, I could go as far as to make some suggestions: I think a good idea could be to translate your (shorter first) stories chapter by chapter and release them in a sort of episodic series where you provide a pdf and a narration together (as you described at the end of your video for new shorter stories). And because I agree with you that you do need to get something out of it, one idea could be to release them first to your patreons and then after some time t you can release the pdf for free, and after (t + x) you can release the audio on your channel for free too. Another suggestion I would like to make though, and this is more important to me, is, since you have filled your world(s?) with so much detail as you say, you should consider writing a Campaign Setting book for some RPG system (personally I am a big fan for DnD for fantasy settings, and 5th edition is amazing imo).
I would be very interested in reading your book, I have always loved fantasy novels and it would definitely be interesting seeing all the detail you have put into it.
I would 100% support this endeavor, and I would love to see an English version. I'm always game for a new Fantasy novel, and I like your historical perspectives, so I'd like to see your book.
As a kid I used to create a lot of fantasy stuff and fill up so many sketchbooks with drawings. I have 3 main "franchises" created that I hope to turn into real entertainment forms (games, shows, movies)
I am currently writing my own book and you sort of remind me of me the way you described everything, and yes I would a absolutely love reading a book written by you
Please do translate your book. I would love to read it. It would be nice to read a fantasy book by someone who knows a lot about Medieval weapons and armor.
I think that if you also had an artist draw out certain scenes and all the types of weapons, like Japanese light novels, I'm sure that it would be a huge hit! I think it'd also be a good idea to have another book listing all the cities and weapons of that story, like an info book for your main book!
Do you ever sleep Metatron 💤. What an interesting idea. Is there no limit to your talents and interests. I would love to read such a story. However, I am English, so would need to be translated ( sorry ). Isn't there some sort of computer software available that could do it automatically for you????? Would wear a t-shirt too! Good luck with this project, I hope it's successful! P.S could you do a video about how you set up your channel, how RUclips works, what your equipment setup is like etc would be interested to know Many thanks. Have a great day
Unfortunately there is no computer software that could accurately translate anything. It's all a game of words. Even a professional translator would use a different set of words than Metatron, and will surely change the meaning of certain phrases and sentences for them to make sense in English. Not to mention it would cost a lot had Metatron decided to hire one. On the other hand, it's always best to hire a professional translator and an editor as far as grammar goes.
I'm writing a Fantasy adventure story too! I can't wait to finish it but boy I have a lot to finish and a lot of art to do. Thanks for telling us about your work! :) I'd love to hear even more and buy them one day!
Everything you talk about is a huge selling point for me. High fantasy with incredible descriptions, an author who knows so much about his world (300 cities. Damn.). And the best part is the author himself translating the English version. I can't tell you how many times I've read books from other countries that were good for the most part, but then the translator made a really weird choice and then takes me out of the story. This is definitely spmething I would be interested in reading!
As a fantasy novelist and weapons/armor/medieval culture enthusiast myself I would be super interested in seeing this! I always gripe and complain about how warfare and armor and weapons are portrayed in fantasy novels, so it'd be awesome to see a novel with those aspects actually given proper consideration.
Yes Metatron! In English, I would be incredibly interested. I recently read the Fantasy Novels written by Popular D&D RUclipsr Matt Colville and I loved that experience and You are also one of my all-time favorite RUclipsrs. I'm sure the book would be fabulous.
You should do it. Fantasy novel from someone who actually knows something about historical combat, weapons and armors seems to me like a breath of fresh air. Plus you're clearly extremely competent when it comes to language, so I wouldn't be affraid of quality of your writing. One question though, would you consider publishing the backstory of your world as well? If you put so much effort in world building, it could be interesting to learn more about various races, gods, kingdoms, cities, languages, inner logic and history of your world.
Do it, my friend. The only determining factor regarding the creation and publishing of books is the author's own passion. From what I can see you do indeed have passion, so just do it. Believe me, persevere enough and the result of this endeavour will be quite brilliant. ^^
I think a book from you would be really cool! I will say that I have a rather specific taste in writing style... I don't want to come across as picky, but the flavors of writing that resonate with me are constrained to an unfortunately small sliver of literary work. also, much to my chagrin, english is the only language I know well enough to read anything substantial in. that being said, my curiosity has officially been piqued. I will be looking forward to any future videos in this vein of thought!
Just from being a fan of your channel and the attention you obviously show to detail, I would definitely purchase your book without having to read a page.
You are an endless source of surprices! You should definitely translate your books! I am sure a lot of us will be interested in buying one, two or even all three of them! You are awesome, keep up!
Wow you're into fantasy, cool! I'm personally writing a novel about a fictional world, and they have late 1600s to early 1700s technology. It goes into the politics, warfare (realistic too), language, and the world itself is very in depth. To not give much away, it is about the mob rule and very violent interaction between "political parties" (really political parties here are factions, which have Royal and noble families, and elections are held to determine which family of which faction will rule the nation). There are court systems too, so elections there get insane as well. Also war, which causes more mobs and protests, etc.
I would be really glad to buy and read it! And about the project of posting here some of your short stories, I think that it would be a great idea! I mean, I've already decided to buy your books, but you know, more stories, more fun!
you sir, deserve many thanks, a combination of your videos, and blacksmithing videos, have kept my emotions in check, whenever i am depressed it is straight to this channel, or to aled steeles channel, or some random blacksmithing video, but you have helped me in many ways.
i am slowly but surely running out of material to read. buying a book off youtube will be a whole new experience. thats for sure! i would love to read your book! i remember when my little sister wrote a book on her own. barely eleven years old, she managed to dosh out a 110 pdf-pages story about a girl that looses herself in a fantasy world. the journey to complete the book was a great and fun one.
I would love to read a book written by you. I have been working on my own book for a few months now, I'm loving it. To be able to create these massive worlds with all this lore and characters is one of the greatest feeling in the world.
Hi Raf, I am a huge fan of fantasy novels and would certainly be interested in reading your book. In addition, I am a huge fan of audiobooks. given your talent with speaking I would love even more to hear your world brought to life by the only person who knows it as well as it can be known. I know it would take you extra time but if you could use something like a Kickstarter campaign to find this project you could identify the financial level required to get to an audiobook a well as a physical book. I know you would find me on the list of contributors for that if you put it up. Looking forward to seeing the fruits of this project. -Anthony
I would love to read something written by you. Especially since you have expertise in many fantasy related things. Honestly I think it would be very refreshing to read a fantasy book by someone who can make fantasy as realistic as possible.
If there's something I enjoy it's hearing people talk about what they're passionate about. I'd love to read your story, there's an authenticity that comes from having a cultural heritage based in the history and folklore of Europe, when it comes to fantasy.
When I was a teenager I used to do this thing called "RP" on AOL. Basically you'd join a chatroom in the Arts and Entertainment section, where it was most prevalent, and each person in the room would basically write out their character's actions. Essentially each person would write a few paragraphs worth of content on what their character was doing and a story would be created through it, often using the randomized dice prompt available in AOL chatrooms. Think group-based creative writing. It's where I learned how to write as well as I do.
I've been pushing myself to write more recently, so its super awesome to hear about your writing as well; I'd absolutely buy the book if you published it!
I would definitely read it! I am fairly new to the channel, but I am overwhelmed by the quality of your content, and the information has been quite helpful in my own fantasy story. I would love to repay that favor!
As someone who has been writing for a while and hopes to write a real full book some day I'd definitely be interested in reading the book. You could write shorter stories, maybe a page or two, to flush out the world and also to offer a kind of demo of your writing style.
If you had a sample chapter to read, that would be great! Alternatively, I'd also be interested in maybe an atlas of your world or some kind of primer / FAQ that explains some of the basic concepts / geography / etc. Definitely add me to the interested list!
I'm happy your income hasn't suffered too much, because it'd be awesome to see your stories from the past get materialized with the money of those who follow your channel and are genuinely interested in them.
WHY ARE YOU SO TALENTED???!!!! it is not fair... and yes, yes I would like to read your book. I would properly learn Italian to read your book. Please publish.
I have just watched this video, and feel pretty excited. I would definitely love to read your novel in English some day in the future, so here is my vote for translating the whole thing, no matter how much time it will take. Though I would like to see an e-book version available. Even though reading a physical copy is much more pleasant, in my case e-book is much easier to get, as I live pretty far away.
I will express my opinion when I see or hear how you write. That said I am staying positive and if it ever comes out, I would definitely buy it, even if I wouldn't like it I would still buy it just to support you. Best of luck! Greetings from Poland!
I would totally read that! I'm always looking for new authors, and I already like your work. Even if you don't do the whole thing, a chapter or just a short story read by you would be super cool.
Well, this is certainly ironic. I mean... I've just started to write yesterday, thanks to a lot of information that I`ve taken of your videos, and now It results that you yourself are a writer. Amazing.
This is actually very funny! I would totally love to read your book(s), because I had the dream of writing a book for ages now! (well ages...I'm only 16 but still) I have started writing a Story some years ago and still want to expand it exactly as you did! I wanted to ad war and countrys with citys and kings and everything that fits! (I even drew a map) I told myself to write it someday! This is so exiting! I just love the idea of creating a world with everything just the way I want it!
I would certainly buy it! If you want a more accurate market poll than youtube comments, could consider starting a crowdfunding page for your book. That way, you'd have a good idea how much interest there is, and, if successfully funded, your translation efforts would already be paid off, so you wouldn't have to worry about revenue.
You bet I'd love to read it dude. Sounds awesome! I wouldn't mind paying you well for it either, so don't make the price too low, you should be rewarded for all your efforts
yes yes and um yes. i clicked on this specifically to find out if you had published any of your books and if so what were the titles and whether i could access them with my kindle although digital format isn't a deal breaker i still invest in old fashioned paper predominantly for my favorite authors an completion of collections but for you i will make the exception. A: because i like you. B: because unlike all other authors i support you are the only one who has verbalized the background of the story and all it en tales which i like. C: iv also watched many of your videos so i have faith in your descriptions of scenes, armor, weaponry etc being practically viable
Metatron: yes I'd be interested in reading what you wrote/write whether in the past or henceforth. Congratulations on your writing. It is something I also do. The stories you describe sound fascinating.. I especially like your explanation of using real castles as inspiration and detail.
Aaaaah! Neat! In fact, I'd be interested in whether the world could be translated to a tabletop RPG! I'm always interested in looking for something as I've always been dissatisfied with the restrictive classes of D&D!
I would love to read a story written by you Metatron. With all the care and effort that you put into your videos, I'm certain that a book written by you would be amazing. Really looking forward to reading it.
I usually like a pretty heavy emphasis on realism in my reading but I have enjoyed fantasy before and will certainly try yours if and when it comes out.
You really are probably the nicest youtuber I am suscribed to, you really help me cope with life and get motivation with everything, be it giving me a reason to study harder History in university, write a story, anything. From your historical videos, to your funny, cultural, or personal ones, I am really glad I found you. Good luck with everything, keep it all up!
oh gawd how I hate generic fanatsy literature, I would love to read this from you, since I have hopes that your style might bring a long needed twist to this genre. I am looking forward to the short story!
I would be very interested in your fantasy novel, Raff. Make sure to include a glossary in the back so we can appreciate elements of the setting you might not have put in the narrative :P
Congrats on your prolific writtings, a hobbie writer myself struggle to get a five page tale on paper, I'm actually amazed by the sheer size of your manuscripts... The Metatron Manuscripts! Sure would read it... it can come handy when writting medieval stuff (only ancient and post WW 2 days flow through this fingers).
I'd love to read your work! I myself am working on some stories/fan-fictions as well, some for classes but mostly for fun. It takes up so much time but I just love to write and imagine these worlds and add to them. I really think that your books would be a hit with your background and totally encourage the move to publish your work. Not only would it be a great read, but also a bit of inspiration for fellow writers as well!
you speak over a million languages, have your own secret language, have long hair, know Japanese martial arts and now you've written three books... are you not the most interesting man in the world?
The Video Crook Stay thirsty, my friend.
And he plays piano AND guitar.
And sings!
The Video Crook And a girlfriend!
No. But he is close ... ;)
Wow, hell yeah I'd love to read that! Would there be an English translation available?
Oh crap, sorry, I commented before watching the whole video, haha!
Ahah no problem pal, thank you for your comment
And thank you for the great videos!
Take my money. I NEED THIS. Will it come in hard cover. I love hard cover books
Adam Stephens Me too!
I would really like to get something on Chinese feudal weaponry. We know a lot about Japanese weapons, but I seriously would like to learn about Chinese arms.
Still waiting for that, also chinese has cool flail weapons such as three section staff and meteor hammer.
grimreaper shinigami Yeah and nunchuks.
I seriously know nothing about Chinese weapons, it's worrying at this point 😰
here you go mandarinmansion.com/welcome This is one of the best places to see some real Chinese weapons
also check out greatmingmilitary.blogspot.com/. His blog has a ton of awesome info about medieval Chinese weapons and armor.
夏武俠 yeah, that's a good site too
damm, i woud love to read your books!
actually i'm creating a fantasy setting myself and i woud love to have a conversation about realism in fantasy and stuff ^^

I prefer a book over a ebook as well.
Horacious Barelian i would choose an real book over an E-Book aswell but simply because i have no more space to store new books i'm really happy that there is something like kindle and whatnot^^
I much prefer hard copy... but the fact that I can carry 237 books on my phone is pretty amazing.
new camera? lights? video quality has improved!! :)
Hi metatron, can you make a video about Venice's carnival? you know like its history or anything about it :)
Bump
Actually, ANYTHING about Venice. You could do a Venice series, from past to present, present the medicis, the wars, their strategy. Life as a Venetian... gee, that would be great!

Locedamius good luck :) I'm about to go to uni myself med school which as you know is expensive
I'd love to get my hands on a copy of this novel; it really sounds like it makes for an interesting read, you already have a customer here.
I am very much interested in an English version of this story. Both because I rather enjoy fantasy novels, but also because I am a D&D player/DM and fresh inspiration is always valuable.
Haven't watched yet, but fantasy novels are fantasy novels so gotta like o-o
and I am always interested in a good book
You got any good fantasy book recommendations mate?
I'd recommended the Inheritance Cycle (aka the Eragon Series). Great books, the author put LOADS of detail into them.
Zaiton The Name Of The Wind. than, after that, read the best book ever made (the sequel) The Wise Man's Fear. ^^
Christopher Winne Read the entire series. Thanks though :) If you have any more recommendations I'd appreciate them greatly.
I would absolutely love to read your book. Your attention to detail and knowledge of historical warfare tells me it'd be fantastic!

Anybody wish to write too but feels kinda like shy or affraid of doing something "edgy" or "dumb"?
Yes, I'm trying to write a book about a gunslinging swordsman at the end of the world, but god it sounds like it was written by an edgelord

I am too shy to write anything atm because I know I can't write for shit...yet.
UnstopablePatrik just remember, it's not practice that makes perfect, but perfect practice

Please publish them!
I hope you'll read this comment!
P.S could you do a video about how you set up your channel, how RUclips works, what your equipment setup is like etc would be interested to know
Many thanks.
Thank you the information and reply.
I'm writing a Fantasy adventure story too! I can't wait to finish it but boy I have a lot to finish and a lot of art to do. Thanks for telling us about your work! :) I'd love to hear even more and buy them one day!
id probably read that
Everything you talk about is a huge selling point for me.
ALL HAIL KING GEEK!
Who dislikes this
Sir Chives just you and two other guys
The way you described it is right up my alley, I would love if you published it
You are an endless source of surprices! You should definitely translate your books! I am sure a lot of us will be interested in buying one, two or even all three of them! You are awesome, keep up!
as an aspiring fantasy writer, I'm completely enthralled by what you've just shared.
I'm in! I would absolutely love to read them!
These books sound like my kind of read!! I'd absolutely love it if these were published in English
Hi Raf,
I am a huge fan of fantasy novels and would certainly be interested in reading your book.
I would love to read your fantasybook, Metatron!
I started writing three novels myself, but I never got past the first chapter... I really need to start following through...
I would love to see a video showing your writing style.
I've been pushing myself to write more recently, so its super awesome to hear about your writing as well; I'd absolutely buy the book if you published it!
I'd love to read your book! Gods, Swords and Magic all the way!!!!✌👍👌
super interested. you publish, I read. can't wait.
You could write shorter stories, maybe a page or two, to flush out the world and also to offer a kind of demo of your writing style.
high fantasy...... GO FOR IT!!!! would love to sample any preview you make available :3
If you had a sample chapter to read, that would be great! Alternatively, I'd also be interested in maybe an atlas of your world or some kind of primer / FAQ that explains some of the basic concepts / geography / etc. Definitely add me to the interested list!
I'd love to read that! Wonderful work as always. Sadly, I cannot support you at the very moment in patreon but will as soon as I can. Cheers!
Your book sounds great the title has me hooked already.
Greetings from Mexico
I'm happy your income hasn't suffered too much, because it'd be awesome to see your stories from the past get materialized with the money of those who follow your channel and are genuinely interested in them.
I'd definitely buy it! Also, talking about making a video out of 1 of the chapters, an audiobook narrated by you would be awesome as well :P
Metatron, I would absolutely love to read your book and I can't wait to know if and when you'll publish it. I'm certainly looking forward to it.
I will express my opinion when I see or hear how you write. That said I am staying positive and if it ever comes out, I would definitely buy it, even if I wouldn't like it I would still buy it just to support you.
Best of luck!
Greetings from Poland!
I'm definitely interested. I think you're one of the most interesting and entertaining educational youtubers.
(I even drew a map)
I told myself to write it someday!
I would love to read your book! It sounds very interesting.
I would totally read it! It sounds awesome!
yes yes and um yes. i clicked on this specifically to find out if you had published any of your books and if so what were the titles and whether i could access them with my kindle although digital format isn't a deal breaker i still invest in old fashioned paper predominantly for my favorite authors an completion of collections but for you i will make the exception. A: because i like you. B: because unlike all other authors i support you are the only one who has verbalized the background of the story and all it en tales which i like. C: iv also watched many of your videos so i have faith in your descriptions of scenes, armor, weaponry etc being practically viable
I would be honored to read your works. It might even inspire me to go ahead and write a novella of my own.
Metatron your videos are great and I can tell that you have a wild imagination can't wait for you to share it with us in your writing!
Good luck with everything, keep it all up!
absolutely I would. I would own the book just to own a book by you. (Not that I doubt your writing, I fully plan to read it as well.)
I would also very much like to hear a short story.
I would love to read your book. I greatly appreciate your thoughtfulness in including an english translation as well.
Go for it! I would pay full price for your novel. Keep up the great content!
You have captured my interest, and I would like to get a copy for sure.
That sounds like a great read! I'm stoked to read this book in due time
oh gawd how I hate generic fanatsy literature, I would love to read this from you, since I have hopes that your style might bring a long needed twist to this genre. I am looking forward to the short story!
Definitely, I think we would all love that. I'm excited!
I would definitely read a fantasy book written by you! sounds pretty interesting and exciting.
I'd love to read it, Raf! It sounds like a ton of fun.
