what fun you all had on that quarter spill at around minute 28. Again still amazed at the beaches there - flat enough people drive and park right on it, drive on beach here and you in a foot and a half of sand in no time

Thanks Edward! Coin spills are always fun!
Not all the beaches are as flat and able to drive on. The sand on the driving beaches is pretty fine, mildly wet and stays packed well. It's almost like a soft cement! So it's good for driving on. The dry sand is tougher to drive on and you'll sink in and get stuck.

Hello from Ocala. Enjoying your videos. I have a 540 but have only been to the beach with it once. Hoping to get over to Daytona soon.

Hey Bob from Ocala! Thanks! The 540 is a good little detector - should do you well at finding treasures at the right time and place! Daytona's a fun beach to detect. We go up there occasionally. Maybe we'll see you on the beach sometime. Cheers!

We didn't get a change to get out there yesterday. Hope to get out there shortly! But if you found it all, we'll have to go someplace else! 😄

Nice to meet you two at the beach the other day. I did go out and check the trough but found nothing. I did find a dime in the wet.

Hi Wes! Glad you were able to get out there and detect! Sorry nothing found other than a dime. Was nice to meet you two also!
We weren't having a lot of luck around where we chatted and then for a bit going back North! Wasn't until we got back up toward one of the hotel areas that we started finding coins.
People are back in the water, so would expect to see more stuff out there!
      Cheers - Scott

both of your detectors have the same basic software right? Was curious if you feel one is better than the other? Thanks. I have the 540 and now manticore. love both

    • @TheDetectingDuo
      @TheDetectingDuo  Год назад

Hi @daddski1 ! Thanks for the question! Here's my humble long opinion.
Quick answer is - it depends! I'd give the Vanquish 540 a slight edge for all-around use!
      Great choices BTW!
Yes, the firmware/software are pretty close between the Equinox 600 and Vanquish 540. Their VDI information, multi-frequency, response and other capabilities are almost identical. But the 600 has more features built in, is more discriminating on many target. A lot more tweaking is possible.
Sensitivity for both we usually run about 21 to 23, depending upon EMI interference.
Examples. Tent Stakes. 540 will see that around a VDI 19 to 20 in many cases (Jewelry mode, all metal turned on). The Nox 600 in Beach Mode 1 or 2 (all metal on) will not give a VDI of 19/20. It'll give a low tone and VDI in the negative range -3 to -5. Or it'll just ignore it.
The v540 will often find costume jewelry and sometimes even better jewelry pieces that the Nox will sort of ignore (well, lower tone/VDI readings.)
Could be I can tweak the Equinox out to exact match the Vanquish. For the most part, we leave both in the stock settings for the modes we use (with a few minor changes here and there.)
The Nox isn't as good in high EMI locations - near Microwave Towers, WiFi, Cell Towers. It chatters a lot. The Vanquish just keeps right on going pretty clean. Better shielding?
I can block the EMI with my body for the NOX in may cases.
The NOX can find everything the Vanquish does once it's been located. Just have to be slower and more accurate pin-pointing.
The NOX gives me more tactile feedback than the Vanquish. I can feel a target in the handle when I'm not hearing it (low tones especially). Wearing headphones would solve that, really.
Whisper tones, for example. leading one to better gold/jewelry finds.
The Vanquish tactile "feeling it" feedback isn't as good.
The Vanquish is louder, so that makes up for the Nox. The Vanquish doesn't give low more quite low tones like the Nox - the 540 just rings out better.
So which is better? Depends really... Overall I'd give the edge to the 540 as it finds more targets that the NOX may miss. But then we've had times when the reverse has happened.
The Manticore is the same tech, but just on steroids! Will probably get one at some point!
Really, I haven't seen it do much better than the Nox 600 when the Nox is tweaked out.
The VDI numbering for stuff is different. Like 30 is a quarter on the NOX and 86 (forget real #) is what the Manticore reads.
The Manticore advantage seems to be in the 2D graph and placement of objects there to increase your guessing at what kind of target you are hitting.
Supposedly you can find deeper targets, but if you use headphones,
It's still a top level game changer for finding stuff in many respects, but most of the targets I've seen Manticore users find aren't any better than what we can do with the Vanquish or the Nox.
Manticore is still pretty new, so maybe it's just a matter of learning its tells.
Just our experience and opinions! What are your thoughts about the Manticore vs the 540?

electric interference today majority of your scoops were off to the side

    • @TheDetectingDuo
      @TheDetectingDuo  Год назад +1

Hmm. Didn't think about that! Thanks for the note!
Typically, the Vanquish 540s hot spot is below the coil tap. Usually the Equinox is right on center, but was off. So probably was EMI. Thanks again! Cheers.
