Créality has announced an update for the nebula pad, which will support the sprite extruder, for the end of February.
      "Dear Customer
Thank you for contacting Creality customer support.
Sorry, Nebula Screen does not currently support changing the E-step. We will update the firmware by the end of February to support it."

I was given this info from Creality
I can provide you with comprehensive instructions to guide you through the process:
    1. Gather Information:
Manual and Firmware: Refer to the Nebula pad's user manual and online resources for specific instructions and compatible firmware versions.
Extruder Specifications: Gather details about your direct drive extruder, including model, voltage, and any necessary wiring diagrams.
    2. Access Firmware Settings:
Connect to Nebula Pad: Connect your computer to the Nebula pad using the appropriate method (USB, Wi-Fi, etc.).
Open Firmware Interface: Use the recommended software or web interface to access the firmware settings.
    3. Modify Configuration:
Extruder Type: Locate the setting for extruder type and change it to "Direct Drive."
Steps per Unit: Adjust the steps per unit value for the extruder stepper motor according to your extruder's specifications. This ensures accurate filament movement.
Retraction Settings: Configure retraction settings to prevent oozing and stringing, which are common with direct drive extruders. Adjust retraction distance, speed, and prime speed as needed.
Motor Current: Set the correct motor current for your direct drive extruder's stepper motor.
Other Relevant Settings: Modify any other settings as recommended for your specific extruder model and setup.
    4. Save and Upload:
Save Changes: Save the modified firmware configuration.
Upload Firmware: Upload the updated firmware to the Nebula pad, following the manufacturer's instructions.
    5. Calibration:
Calibrate Extruder: After updating the firmware, perform essential calibration steps, including:
E-step calibration to ensure accurate filament extrusion
Z-offset calibration to fine-tune the distance between the nozzle and the print bed

Yes, the sensor goes on the bed for the Y-Axis test. I have a Sonic Pad, and the instructions for it clearly state this. It can be clipped on the edge of the bed with a binder clip, or you can print a holder for it on the bed (as Ricky Impey does in his Sonic Pad tutorial serious).

    • @TapticDigital
      @TapticDigital  6 месяцев назад +1

Correct, if you have a Sprite it makes the extruder offset different from stock, and there is no way to program that into the Nebula without either rooting it and installing Fluidd, or possibly G-code that reduces your bed size through software; changing the size from 200x200 to 160x160 could help. I've just posted a video update about how a custom firmware can fix this, and hopefully that firmware is public very soon.

The instructions are terrible, here’s my own: 1. Format your MicroSD card and copy the ‘firmware_Nebula_pad.bin’ found on the Nebula flash drive to your MicroSD. 2. While the printer is off, connect the Nebula pad to the display ribbon cable from your printer. No other connections to the nebula, no flash drive, no usb c. 3. Power the printer on, when you get to the set up screen connect the usb c cable to the nebula pad. 4. Continue set up, and it should work from there.

@@TapticDigital I couldn't get it to work. There wasn't even an option in the menus to load/unload filament. Creality offered zero installation details for the V3 SE in any of their documentation so I had to figure it out based on half a dozen RUclips videos. I could get it to bed level and calibrate the g-sensor but it would error out every single time I tried to start a print. I'm sending it back. So disappointing.
Having it require that spaghetti mess and an extra USB power input is just sloppy engineering.

Damn, why wouldn't they make it universal? I would buy one for each of my printers.

I wish, probably something to do with how it uses the LCD ribbon to communicate.

All of the problems listed are user error and unfamiliarity with klipper. Klipper is not a plug and play solution.

It sure isn’t plug and play, though that is how Creality markets this. And I don’t think the fact that it doesn’t have options to set extrusion steps is user error 😉, maybe you’ll like my new video where I install actual klipper on it and make it better.
