Chris , your last video is great 👍 Keep up with the good work. I think the reason it doesn't have so many views is because there are fewer GTV fans. However this makes it even more precious and a gem for GTV lovers like me on RUclips. Be certain it will be much treasured soon. I'd love to see a review of Alfa Romeo 146. I used to drive one with the 1.6 TS engine, lusso sportivo version when I was at the uni. There are quite rare and not really popular but just amazing to drive. If you could do a video with one of these it would be simply amazing! Cheers mate🙌

Thanks for watching Richard - the Ragazzon sounds more to my taste than a Wizard (excellently made though the Wizard is), although I still had to experiment a bit to get the sound right. (Straight through rear section with a small cherry bomb type silencer welded in.)
It has a truly wonderful aesthetic line. I think it is truly super performer, to drive, both in sport mode and in comfort mode. Personally, especially on Alfa cars, but for all cars in general, I always prefer the manual gearbox, where it is very pleasant to change gears and feel the revolutions of the engine. A personal observation, perhaps banal: correct that you drive with sneakers, but I advise you, as a simple test, to drive without shoes, intended in socks or even barefoot. In this way, you will totally feel the engine and the car itself, it is a very pleasant feeling, especially with the manual car.
@@TheAlfaNut Hi, thanks for the reply. I have checked now, and as I assumed, driving barefoot in the UK is perfectly legal, so much so that I have some Facebook contacts and also sy RUclips, where they usually drive barefoot. If I can, I will send you one of the internet links where this topic is discussed.
Not bad, thanks for asking...sweating my ass in my new/ used GT Blackline leather seats 😀, just instal them and now they need just a little TLC with cleaner/ conditioner
Thanks for watching Philip - no lowering at all, the Spider has standard struts & springs. Just poly bushes, uprated rear anti roll bar and uprated discs & pads. Handles great! Do you have a Spider?
@@TheAlfaNut Yes I do have one. Year 99. Grey one. 2.0 TS. All is standard on it. Ok my mistake but It very look like it's been lowered, good thing for you. I actually wonder if I will lower mine but it's still a question because that demands a lot of effort for a little viewing impact (but so much for me..)
The Alfa Nut after watching some of these videos, I bought an Mint Alfa Romeo 156 2.5 V6. Only 70k km on it. The sound it makes, the curves on the body make me go weak on the knees.
Haha, I’m glad to hear it! Are you a former Honda Civic man? (Your avatar looks like a Honda). Great choice - the 156 V6 is going up in value very quickly now. I will be making another 156 video very soon, so watch out for that! 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut In my younger, more brash years, I drove a '00 Honda Civic Vti. The engine was also the main party piece of that car. Did about 500 laps on the Nordschleife in the naughties with that. And since then I never drove an atainable car that had that much gusto towards the redline. In the Alfa V6 I found that eagernes to rev again but now combined with a creamy rumbling character at low to mid revs. The Alfa V6 engine is nice in all the powerband.
Hi mate, thanks for watching. Yes it was one of those memorable Summer days - no wind, hot sun, English countryside and a Busso singing under the bonnet!
Ciao Alberto! Grazie per la visione: dovevo essere al museo Alfa Romeo la scorsa settimana per l'evento del 110 ° compleanno. Ero molto triste di non poter andare.

Haha thanks a lot mate, appreciate your support. Where are you in Ireland? I had a crazy 24 hour business trip to Athlone a few years back, which involved a trip to a local distillery and subsequently missing my plane flight home! 😂
Good morning, am thinking of a phase 3 version (prefer the larger grill, etc) But.... I love your teledial wheels, would they fit on the phase 3 version? (If I find a set that is?
Good morning Mr Agent! Yes Teledials will fit your car - they should be the same fitment and tyre size as your ph3 wheels. Just make sure you buy a 17” set which are straight and have no cracks! They can always be refinished but if they are buckled or damaged then not so good. They are also quite expensive now but try Nathan at Cloverbreakers or keep an eye out on the Alfabook selling page in Facebook. Good luck 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut I just snagged a Spider! Not the phase 3 (916) variant But a 2.4 JTDM (939) Looks very nice in that Alfa Red. & the hood still works! Mind you am taking it to the Alfaman in Harrow on Monday, the car is by no means perfect 😕 when about halfway through lowering the hood it makes a loud ‘crack’ sound, enough almost to give me another heart 💔 attack 🙃
I’m not so keen on the 939’s as they are quite heavy but still very pretty! Good luck with it, at least it will be economical and the 2.4 is a great reliable engine
Beautiful spider ❣️ very nice. Didn't Tim do well with his MiTo 5 k with only 11k on the clock ??!!!! Bargain I say . He's gone all out with the decals as well by the looks . I'm not sure if I would do such a thing to my 159 ti sportwagon though . I've toyed with the idea of quadrafoglio badges on the wings but I'm not sure yet . They look great but would be fraudulent as I've got the 2.0 170 bhp diesel in mine . What are people's thoughts ???
Really really nice sound. I test drived a 3.2 spider last week. It had a ragazzon exhaust on as well. Sounded too good. Drives a p car 964 but is considering swapping it for the alfa. One thing bothered me thou - the interior made squiking rattles all the time. Is this to be expected in most spiders? The spider I test drived had only 61000km on it - and the price was reasonable at 20.000 euro. But that engine/exhaust Sound was intoxicating. Great video 👍
@@TheAlfaNut thx for answering. Did buy the Spider 3.2 ... off goes the old P car. Did you mount a strut bar in your spider? Seams to be the best way to cure some the squeaks. Cheers from Denmark.
Hej Karsten - congratulations on your purchase! The phase 3 Spider 3.2 is super rare and will go up in value. Yes, my Spider has a Weichars strut bar and a thicker rear anti roll bar, (Whiteline) which helps to counter the extra weight of the V6. I am also fitting wing braces from www.totallyalfa.com. These help to reduce scuttle shake and help rigidity. (I hope!). Enjoy your Spider quickly before the snow arrives! 😉
What could be better than a busso on the road. The Spider or the GTV are not my favorites but i would like to own a GT or 156 with the 3.2 V6, unfortunately good ones are hard to find in germany, so for the time i have to enjoy my beautiful Lancia Delta (Chrysler Delta in the UK) until a nice busso crosses my way. But still a nice Alfa you got there.
Hi Max, danke for watching! I also love Lancias (my first car was a 1.6 Beta coupe). The 156 is a beautiful car - I am restoring a 2.5 v6 version at the moment. 👍🏻
Best sounding V6, ooh it's close between the Busso, the V6 lump in the Nissan GTR and the 3.0 SC in the XE, XF and F-Type. Audi RS5 would be nice if it weren't for those horrendous DSG farts.
Hi Steve, thanks for watching! Yes the wipers are a bit prominent and they have the bizarre pipes attached for washer fluid instead of concealed jets. I need to review the previous generation Spider soon 👍🏻
@@TheAlfaNut I guess these were ment to not spray over the windscreen but on it. Ok for the Spider but the GTV got that thing too, also the ugly antenna which it would have not needed because it has a full rear window... So i guess the Spider was the base design.
Don't be sad Mike - the TS is a great sounding engine, perhaps lose a silencer to let it sing? This isn't my composition but I'll be using some more of my own tunes soon.
@@TheAlfaNut incidentally I still have your CD that you sent me in the 147, it gets a bit of airtime from time to time :D The upside of the TS engine is that I regularly get around 7.5l/100km which is much better for commuting purposes.
@@TheAlfaNut while it's fair to say things aren't perfect, at least we currently have freedom of movement within our borders, albeit with a level of contact tracing so movements can be tracked if there's any community transmission. Your car? I think the GTV Spider with the Busso would probably be my choice of Busso powered cars if money and garage space wasn't any object. Maybe the SZ Spider actually but I'd imagine the GTV is more use-able. The 156/147 GTA cars are great and all but the primary reason for ownership would be that engine so it's better enjoyed without metal and glass in it's way! Quick Q: Does being a soft top affect the handling much?
Yes, I’ve owned it for almost 6 years and was lucky enough to buy it for £5k from a wealthy fan who had spent lots of time and money on it. You could daily drive it, as its very easy to live with. I only drive it on dry days however and its always garaged. The lack of a tin roof does affect handling but this is reduced to a bit of scuttle shake over bumps on my car, as it has strut brace, new suspension & poly bushes, uprated anti roll bars and wing braces from Totallyalfa.com. It handles very well without the usual understeer from the heavy Busso. I agree about the open top being a great platform for the Busso - it just sounds so fantastic through tunnels and in narrow streets etc! 😄
The GTV Spider is rare! There's none for sale right now across all the big online car market platforms. I did see a very late facelift 3.2 one awhile back but that was priced way up there. If you ask me, ultimate handling isn't needed. Busso engined cars are cruisers and GTs I feel. Perhaps the 147 GTA handles hot hatch like if money is spent on upgrades but I wouldn't know.
@@Negativvv True - not many about these days and most people won't be advertising theirs in Summertime anyway! I found a lovely low mileage Spider TS for my Brother in Law recently but there's not much choice. There are only 23 V6 Spiders on the road right now in the UK.
That era of Alfa is moving into rarity now yes. There are somewhere in the region of 150 156 2.5s left which is the same as the GTA. Considering only a few hundred were ever sold that's a reasonable percentage still around. I'd imagine they never sold many V6 Spiders in the first place!

Thanks mate, my friend Gary had a couple of 146’s and I really like the 145 too so maybe I will feature them both? They are pretty rare in the UK now too.
Superb car! On my 6th Alfa now and loved all of them.
Excellent! What is the current Alfa?
The Alfa Nut .. Giulietta veloce.. 2017 model with same engine as the 4c, my next model! Way hey!
Great engine! I’d love a 4c myself! 😍
The Alfa Nut thanks, it’s such a fun car, I’m going to keep it and have the 4c for even more fun... just got to wait for the perfect 4c to come along!
well that was a total blast ..... thanks for the trip!
Hi Paul, thanks a lot for watching mate - yes that was a fun day! Are you an Alfa driver?
@@TheAlfaNut i've had 2 gtv's and looking at the possibility of a spider ... don 't know if we have enough sunny days (or even non rainy days) to justify it ... every single time i got in it, i would get that "feeling".
@@paulhornsey-pennell1931 No need to look for reasons to justify enjoying your life Paul - when we are lying on our death beds, the only things we’ll regret are the things we didn’t do! 😊
Honestly I need one of these Alfa’s. Along with the MiTo and the Giulia QV this has to be one of my favourites.
Thanks Lucas, mine too - I always wanted a 916 Spider and I won’t be parting with this one. They will have to bury me in it 😉
Great video Chris! I’m getting the Ragazzon cat-back exhaust fitted to my V6 Spider next week...can’t wait 😁
Hi Fred, thanks for your observations - I think it is actually illegal to drive without shoes in the UK! 🙂
Nice car and great sound, I need to get my GT to sound something like that🤣🤣 great video 👍🏾👍🏾
Thanks a lot for watching Randall. A little bit of witchcraft with the exhaust and anything's possible! ;0)

Hi Willy, how are you? Yes, a Busso with the right exhaust will make you smile very wide!

Hi Michael, thanks for watching! Strange that I should bump into a Mito-owning Alfisti on my test drive!
hi, nice videos, can I ask how much it has been lowered?
Thanks for watching Philip - no lowering at all, the Spider has standard struts & springs. Just poly bushes, uprated rear anti roll bar and uprated discs & pads. Handles great! Do you have a Spider?
@@TheAlfaNut Yes I do have one.
Year 99. Grey one. 2.0 TS. All is standard on it.
Ok my mistake but It very look like it's been lowered, good thing for you.
I actually wonder if I will lower mine but it's still a question because that demands a lot of effort for a little viewing impact (but so much for me..)
@philippeg632 Hi Philippe, lowering does make the car harder to get into! 😉😂 Looks cool though 👍🏻
You sir, have made my day!
Glad you enjoyed - luckily there’s no charge! 😉
Just, beautiful.
Hey Dekio - thanks for watching!
Love it and what a fabulous day to get the top down.
Hi mate, thanks for watching. Yes it was one of those memorable Summer days - no wind, hot sun, English countryside and a Busso singing under the bonnet!
At this point i don't think it's a question if i'm going to get one of these, but rather which kidney i should sell.

Alfa Nut, glad to have you back! How’s the ‘ The Pearl of the crown’ the marvellous 156? I hope you will include it in the up coming videos. Stay safe
Hi Yordan, thanks for your message! I was doing some work to the 156 today in fact! It needs some difficult welding before I can get it back on the road but I will be featuring it in a couple of videos very soon 👍🏻
Bellissima macchina ,with the best car engine in the world...its a shame that alfa had to stop the production of that engine....bloody emissions 😝ciao Chris
Ciao Edo! Thanks for watching 🙂
FWD and the taillights kill me on this car. imagine that Busso in a 4C...
I know - it handles great despite the FWD (Alfa nicked some ideas off the Lotus Elan for the GTV) but RWD would be awesome!
Chris I asked - you delivered. Perfect!
This was all your idea and a great idea it was too! Cheers 👍🏻
I don’t know why I can’t see comparisons between this and the Z3 ...
Yes, they are similar cars in many respects, apart from the BMW is rear wheel drive. Both are bone fide modern classics. 👍🏻
And that's the proper Alfa ! But I remember that in the mid-90's I preferred the Fiat Coupe 20v. And i still prefer. But both are beaut.
I have the same Busso engine in my 166 :) Love the sound!
Very nice Spider, excellent color composition :)
Hi Tomaz - thanks for watching and commenting. I like the 166 - is it good to drive?

Good morning, am thinking of a phase 3 version (prefer the larger grill, etc)
But....

Not the phase 3 (916) variant
But a 2.4 JTDM (939)
Looks very nice in that Alfa Red.
& the hood still works! Mind you am taking it to the Alfaman in Harrow on Monday, the car is by no means perfect 😕 when about halfway through lowering the
hood it makes a loud ‘crack’ sound, enough almost to give me another heart 💔 attack 🙃
Hi Leo - many people don’t like QV badges on non QV cars but I’m not precious about it - its your car so if you like it then do it!
Beautiful car Chris.
I wouldn’t swap it for my Zoe though lol, but I’ll happily take your wheels
Haha, well you could try Dave at “GTV City” for some Teledials but they won’t be cheap!
Mine si like that but the engine is 2.0 JTS. Emotions.😊
You are a lucky man - your car will probably feel lighter around corners than mine! 😉
The Alfa Nut i don’t now, but i think it is no so big difference about the handling
Thanks for watching! Yes the interiors do rattle and squeak!
A beautiful car for a beautiful day 👏
Hi mate, thanks for watching. Yes it was a pretty good day all things considered 🙂
Henry Ford :" Immer wenn ich einen Alfa Romeo sehe , ziehe Ich meinen HUT!"
Best sounding V6, ooh it's close between the Busso, the V6 lump in the Nissan GTR and the 3.0 SC in the XE, XF and F-Type. Audi RS5 would be nice if it weren't for those horrendous DSG farts.
😂 yes they are a bit aren’t they? I like the Jag but it’s a bit too loud all the time!

My only criticism is that Alfa could have done a better job of hiding the wipers. I own an ‘87 QV.

Hi James, thanks for watching! Glad you enjoyed it 👍🏻
Sigh... makes my 2.0 146 sound so lame... even a standard Busso setup sounds fantastic.
Ps is the soundtrack your composition?
Don't be sad Mike - the TS is a great sounding engine, perhaps lose a silencer to let it sing? This isn't my composition but I'll be using some more of my own tunes soon.
@@TheAlfaNut incidentally I still have your CD that you sent me in the 147, it gets a bit of airtime from time to time :D
The upside of the TS engine is that I regularly get around 7.5l/100km which is much better for commuting purposes.
Haha yes, swings and roundabouts isn’t it? Hows the situation in NZ? Your prime minister seems to be very switched on in managing it?
