Joe Satriani is usually at the top or near the top of lists of best guitarists of all time. He's definitely someone you need to explore. Steve Vai is right up there with him. I'm going to love seeing your journey exploring their catalogs.
The thing about this video is all 3 guitarists are from Long Island New York. John Petrucci is probably the most successful of the three. But MAYBE the least known. Basically because he hasn't done a lot solo stuff compared to the other two. He has been in and is a founding member of Dream Theater since 1988. And Majesty before that. Dream Theater is widely acclaimed as the number one prog band in the world. Those he has produce a lot of material over the years of all sorts of styles. But when your as good as these three, it's not who's better but who' style you like better.
Man, You stumbled onto three of the best ever. You could go on for days - nay weeks - on each of these guys. As you said, they each have their own styles and sounds. Joe Satriani is smooth and melodic - he can shred but really plays in a humble way. Steve Vai is very dramatic and artsy - a fantastic innovator of different sounds. Joe Petrucci is an extremely technical shredder, very theory based. Here are a couple suggestions: Joe Satriani "Flying in a Blue Dream" ruclips.net/video/zDfy67my2So/видео.html Steve Vai "For the Love of God" ruclips.net/video/9IrWyZ0KZuk/видео.html John Petrucci (Dream Theatre) "Dance of Eternity" ruclips.net/video/wATkqzUeanw/видео.html
Well, your patron just introduced you to three guitarists that are all masters. Satriani is pretty much always included in lists of top 10 guitarists and Vai is often as well. Satriani was actually Vai’s teacher. His pupil has done well. Some would say his has surpassed his mentor He is a more emotive player to me…along the lines of Gilmour. Seems you felt the same, Sal. I love his tone
The guy that you said you like is Steve Vai, he was on a track on the latest polyphia album check out some of his solo work people say that he makes love to the guitar, also check out Yngwie Malmsteen he is an incredible Swedish guitar player a neoclassical style player
The G3 is on some kind of puse but there's another guitar centric tour going on, Generation Axe, with Steve Vai, Nuno Bettencourt, Yngwie Malmsteen, Tosin Abasi and Zack Wylde, and it's amazing too. These three guys are simply three of the best to ever play guitar and once you start listening to their respective discographies you're going to love their music, specially Petrucci's band, Dream Theater, that are the most prominent prog metal band in the world (they even won a grammy this year!) and have some incredible complex and beautiful music. Think a modern day Yes/Rush but harder and heavier and you'll have an idea of what to expect. A couple of suggestions: "Metropolis pt 1" and incredible live rendition of one of their classic tunes, with a few twists ruclips.net/video/pEkWYrmk7OA/видео.html "Breaking All Illusions" a wonderful song with a stunning, melodic guitar solo and some amazing melodies ruclips.net/video/-0M21LUg_9E/видео.html Enjoy :)
I started watching this video, thinking that it was going to be a good reaction. But, who does really want to waste almost two minutes of introduction and even worse, who wants to see your face at the moment of the guitar solos? If you were to keep the screen the same size all the time, it wouldn't be a problem. But, no! Just at the guitar solo, you wanted the audience to look at you.
Petrucci is a God. 🤘
Steve Vai is off the charts. Superb

How could anyone ask for better than this. It was too good for me to know how to describe.

Ah… I was wondering where I had heard Petrucci’s name. Dream Theater. Was he also on Rick Beato’s channel? Seems I remember an interview.

GUAUUUUUUU !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Check out more of John Petrucci. Please react to Acid Rain Live in LA 2008. It's an insane shred fest
The guy you said you liked is Steve Vai, I've suggested him a couple of times. You should check him and the others out further.
I wish Buckethead was part of this. That would have been insane.
