Same, I had a few things from the Neca line but Marty is what really started for me
I'll never forget when I got the neca Ghostbusters, was the summer of 04 didn't know neca more the line existed. Didn't know the internet or Ghostbusters groups n forums was a thing, went to Suncoast a store I never heard of at a mall i never been to 3 long bus rides away just I heard how great it was and bam there they were one of each, one terror dog, stay puft, slimer and gozer oh and mezco popeye was there. Got all but the terror dog. Was on the bus with a big ass stay puft gozer slimer and popeye n bluto on my way home instead of a job lol. I was hungry for new gb. Burned out on gb now only want rgb lol
Can't wait for an entire episode about Scott's cardboard Ecto-1 (yes, I know it was just for scale but c'mon - kinda ridiculous). Anyway, bless it's under-funded heart.

Loved the GB2 box set
One of the best sets ever!
I remember walking into my local Toys R’ US around 2010 or 2011 and saw the GB2 Christmas 4 pack. I flipped out. I honestly couldn’t believe I was looking at GB2 figures, let alone outfits from a specific scene in the movie. Immediate purchase from me and my connection to Matty Collector was linked until they ended. One of my favorite lines of all time. 👍
I collected the Matty product from the first SDCC Egon. Getting the rest of the team was...well, tedious. Digital River's queue was far from perfect BUT I developed nerves of steel. Ray/Winston/Peter were spaced out a couple months apart. The cost was around $28 each for these shipped.
So my friend calls me from his TRU, saying that he had a GB2 box set in his hand. I was scared of the pricing...but it was $40. Total. He gave it to me for the holidays and I just found someone who needed to replace their Matty GB line. So all's well, ect.
I hate when people complain about the re-use of the Matty bodies, but never mention how all the Diamond Select Busters were the same body and same with Hasbro Ghostbusters the body’s were all the same for the 4 guys except Venkman’s pants and Rays torso, but even Rays torso was reused on all the Afterlife OG busters
Matty's matching design for the first four Ghostbusters wasn't an issue until that slimed Venkman. He was wearing his gloves. They weren't tucked into the belt. I did my best to ignore it until a friend bought me the TRU GB2 box set. They all matched. Finally. They cost about HALF what I paid. At retail.

We could always just ask Spector why slimed Egon... he was the one-man band of MattyCollector as he would remind us. The first FAILED Crowdfund? RIP: Ecto
“Egon’s got all of the stuff that you would expect Egon to have,” except a PKE Meter.
They started with Egon because they had trouble with the Venkman likeness sign offs. That's why Egon is packed with Slimer. It was supposed to be Venkman. Check Spector Creative's channel. He was the product lead on these
People complain about Mattel's 2009 Ray's headsculpt, wich is for me a good rapresentation of Dan Akroyd, but nobody say anything about the awful likeness of 2022 Hasbro Ghostbusters "afterlife" Ray, for me Mattel did a great job with the headsculpt of our heroes, simpler but most effective, i love Matty line❤, for me the "30th anniversary" with removable proton packs are the best Ghostbusters toys ever, my absolutly favourites, such a pity that we still don't have a proper scale ecto1...
This should really have mentioned that the Matty Ghostbusters likenesses were lookalikes of the GBTVG characters (by Ian Mcintosh). If you played the game in 3D it was like the Matty figures come to life.
Nice Ghostbusters idea Craig! I have every figure in the Mattycollector days too, despite the ups and downs! 🙂
Also, the first gen 1's (non removeable proton packs) were more detailed than the later gen 2 figures (removeable Proton Pack). The yellow hose and details and mould sharpness.
I've got tons of Matty Ghostbusters figures. All in their boxes. They were a great line.
Not exactly related to these toys, but I wish I had been fortunate enough to pick up the Matty ghost trap when it released in 2011. They are so hard to find now. I did manage to get the Matty PKE meter a few years later for a good price on eBay. It’s currently my favourite Ghostbusters collectible… that is until the HasLab proton pack arrives, hopefully sometime next month.
I’m looking forward to this series. I still have all of my Matty figures in box with their mailers, still have my trap, pke and wand. I just sold my goggles last week.
Great job on this! Appreciate you going through just about every detail of these Matty releases. Man those Matty figures and especially the packaging were really well done for that price point. Looking forward to the next one!
the cable was hella fragile between cable and Proton pack itself. I have a ray i got that got busted.
I have some of the 6’ figures I was thinking of selling, they don’t seem to go for a decent price. I’ll hold onto them.
I had the entire line but most of it was thrown out by mistake during a move. I only have the 4 12 inch figs and the trap left

Matty the dark ages. The whole have to join their gang and then face other to get the item debacle was bs lol. Missed out on the wand and all cause of that lol
