I agree with Jacob’s point of view on the exclusives. I remember exclusives being much more “exclusive” years ago, and that was fine. If you wanted it and you were not at whatever convention you were paying a heftier price after the con. I paid for the things I wanted that way for years. Everyone wants to moan and groan about everything now. And everyone feels entitled. It is supposed to be fun, and the hunt is a big part of that. I want that Starspeeder 3000!
lmao at the 1st sad comment. logging in at 1 : 02 ... thats not hasbro, thats user failure. Those of us forged in the exclusive fires knows to be logged in 5 minutes til and making sure everything is in order , then pressing refresh is how the hardened vets doing it.
In general I think it is fine to have on-site exclusives, just as long as they aren't important characters or variants. I know a lot of fans and collectors here in Europe who would have been very upset if the only way to get the Marvel Legends Death's Head (from the UK comic) was to be at a convention on the west coast of America, thankfully it was also available online. I thought the Cobra Commander was a fine example of a reasonable con exclusive as it was referencing the cartoon show (or straight to VHS movie) and not the physical toy line which is what Classified is all about.
Just wanna say I absolutely love all of yalls shows. I look forward to YHS, toy anxiety, Gotham city tonight and YHS on monster island weekly. Yall bring me a lot of joy in a world that isn’t always full of joy and thanks to all of you for giving me something to look forward to weekly
SDCC exclusives were even harder to get about 10 years ago with the raffle system. You had to wait in line for a raffle ticket, come back later to check if you had a winning ticket, and then wait in line to buy. And some companies like Mattel did blind box chase variants. Fun times.
I didn't get the Cobra Commander on Monday, but I did get it on Tuesday, and if it wasn't numbered I wouldn't have cared to not get it. But the legitimate concern is that the exclusive items on Hasbro Pulse are five per customer. People aren't buying five of a standard toy, why make an exclusive five per customer. They should be one per customer. They don't let you buy five in person at the con.
Completely disagree with these takes on exclusives and I’m lucky enough to usually get them pretty easily. Exclusives could/should be items that are unique to the event but not something desirable for the majority of customers that make these lines successful. Exclusives are not fun for the majority of collectors who are stretching their budgets just to collect items that bring them happiness.
@@smyers9052 maybe using your logic but in the real world most fans actually want that CC which is why he’s sold out and people are freaking out about it. The exclusives don’t need to be figures or anything related to specific lines. They can be other memorabilia that is meaningful to the person going like a t-shirt or something else and then nobody has to worry about missing out on items from their collection.
@@XFactorz17 I meant as a figure. And I love Cobra-La, always have. I’m one of the relative few late 80s/90s Joe fans. But the reality is that in actuality, that concept has broadly been derided and dismissed by the mainstream Joe community. People are upset, for the most part, because they have FOMO, not because that is an iconic figure or a film that people have been clamoring to have represented in plastic form. If you’ve been plugged into Joe fan media for the last couple decades, you will know this is true. This is exactly the kind of figure that should be an exclusive - deluxe, unique, and not critical to the core IP. It sucks to miss out, but I think the fury is a bit over the top.
@@smyers9052 I understand what you’re saying but who are we to say how others should feel? I was lucky enough to get 2 of CC as I do with all of the exclusives just incase something is wrong with one of them or if one breaks (like the wrist on my Serpentor) but I genuinely feel bad for people who want this version of a character that has never been made before and so many people have nostalgia for when they think back to watching the movie as a kid. Why not just make exclusive memorabilia to shows that aren’t part of collector lines and then everyone wins? Attendees can get unique swag still but people who can’t go aren’t stuck being left out or having to deal with greedy people scalping sought after items.
@@XFactorz17 I’m sympathetic to this argument. I don’t think there was anything wrong with making this an exclusive. I think that, outside of Serpentor, all of the Classified SDCC choices have been defensible. All of them will get retro releases, so it’s just the con-specific load out that you’re missing. This is a little more challenging, because it’s likely to be one-time, but it is also a very niche release. Still, I hear you. As for swag vs figures, the con is a prestige environment and they are basically commissioning those figure exclusives. That’s just the game, and it doesn’t really bother me. This is new for Joe collectors, but it’s been standard for other lines and I think it will remain that way. Hell, Joe was doing exclusive sets at the old collectors conventions that were absolutely unavailable any other way. So….yea, I just see this as the world of adult collecting.
I think exclusives are fair and actually good for the hobby and fun to hunt like Jake said, But I don’t think G I joe should put the sequential numbers on Haslabs or exclusives. Should maybe start new numbers on first haslab. Like an exclusive number set. Idk, not everyone can afford same stuff but if u can and do budget for all the main line figures should at least not have holes in your numbering, even if there’s a hole in collection and heart lol.
I remind myself if I want it bad enough there will be a scalper out there that will sell it to me. Good point if you can pick up another exclusive maybe someone will trade with you. You also might look back later and go man why did I want that. Glad I didn't get it.
Im an independent, and if you dont like hearing your leaders did a coup with jan 6th and fake elector plot, planning another by having board members not certify elections in areas in swing states then demand better of your leaders on the right.
I like Jacob’s idea of waiting to open items for bad days to cheer you up

By this logic, Once a Man CC is the perfect exclusive.

Dan Larson isn’t cool I instantly stop watching anything associated with him and his political rants online can’t stand him anymore
