  • This is not a moment for a politician's origin story or soaring oratory. Some think that means dancing with the one that brung ya. But maybe it’s a moment for someone who could prosecute the case against Donald Trump-making it a perfect time to reintroduce Kamala Harris to voters. She doesn't poll as well as Biden, and you know there are a lot of people who would never vote for her, because they're very dumb. I really think that Biden chose her as VP to help her become President someday - either by taking over for him when he kicks the bucket, or by getting that incumbent bonus in 2028. He's shown for his whole Presidency that he's trying to get more black women in positions of power. Or maybe he'll step down in a couple years, for health reasons? Yes, the first time I saw her, I thought, "she's probably going to be President someday!" I'm looking forward to it.

@carrieohio, they interviewed several public defenders who worked with Harris and they said as a prosecutor“she was one of the good ones”. She also focused on equity, making sure that marginalized communities weren’t getting railroaded into bad deals while giving white defendants sweetheart deals. It’s true that she did not take up Kevin Coopers case to retest his DNA, this was after the conviction so she wasn’t hiding evidence from anyone, Hariisbdidbregret not retesting the DNA but you have to understand how many cases they have and how many convicts want something like this done. The system is not perfect and we have a finite amount of time and money for each case. Sometimes it comes down to “retest convicted murderer Kevin Coopers dna or test a recent rape kit”.
Incidentally, Kevin Coopers DNA has been retested, thanks to Kim Kardashion, and it was 100% his DNA found at the scene. He murdered a mother and father and two little kids.

In half the time used by Ezra Klein, Tim Miller surfaced twice the useful insight into Kamala Harris’s character and her potential as the Democrat’s standard bearer than Klein was able to muster in his somber, almost funereal assessment of the Vice President’s history and chances in the fall.
The choice of guests made a big, big difference; but even more than that, whereas Klein seemed to be on a mission to find problems with the very notion of Harris stepping into the spotlight at this life-or-death moment in the story of American democracy, Tim and his guest picked through a very sketchy track record compiled by the VP in Biden’s current term to find the nuggets that could credibly serve as proxies for her future performance as President.
It was a useful 30 minutes vs. a slack and downbeat hour. And it cast a searching light on the question of why Biden reneged on his promise to pass the torch onto the next generation of this country’s leaders, as embodied in Vice President Harris-a question that goes to Biden’s character, and explains to some degree the mess he’s made for himself. Great job!

Do you remember the 2020 Primary? Our first impression was a poor one. There is a reason she was lagging well behind. Have you read her book?
I will vote against Trump, but asking me to be enthusiastic about Kamala Harris is a step too far. Joe Biden knows the office of the Vice President better than anyone and I hoped he would do a better job in development.
Kamala relied on "Gotcha ambush moments". Not the strongest prepared debator.

I will not vote and let MAGA go at it for 4 years if Kamala is pushed out. Living in a blue state will protect me mostly worst case anyways since SCOTUS loves state rights so much🥰

Anything is possible, including both sides coming together to overcome challenges and possibly bring stability to the entire political system. We can show how Americans should treat their political opponents in good faith, with a warmer embrace and not with fists.

Everyone remembers the "Do not come" clip and even the podcast states there is no measure of success for reducing root causes of immigration so it set her up to fail. I get that illegal crossings could be a measure however as the VP she literally has no power over the border directly.. only executive action from Biden could do anything.

Biden picked Harris because she was a black woman. I believe you need to always hire the best person for the job. Harris is a competent woman but she lacks speaking skills and the ability to win over audiences. It is sad that matters but it does. I do believe it is possible she has been set up to fail but every time I saw her speak she struggled. How long does it take to prepare a person to speak well??? She always ends her sentences 8 octaves higher that ends up irritating the listener. I am starting to think that Biden is allot more self serving than he claims to be since he has not stepped down. I will vote blue this year no matter what so it matters more to what the swing voter, independents, and double haters want.
