Trying to show, share and teach people about all the camping and glamping possibilities, especially tents. The air tube tents have been the rage in Europe for the last 5-10 years because Europeans will camp for 2-4 weeks, when Americans only camp for 1-2 days.
We welcome to the channel thirsty learners who want to have longer and better outdoor experiences with their family and friends. Yes I agree camping is about enjoying the comfort of being outdoors. We started with a smaller tent and sleeping on the cold hard ground. Leveled up and got a bigger tent, air mattress, electricity onsite for plugins, then people were saying that’s glamping lol. But I say why not be comfortable while we are out camping and enjoying ourselves 🤷🏿♀️ 😊

In highschool I had a smaller tent “2 person” - when we went shopping for camping gear we bought a 10 person ozark trail tent for 100$, two chairs with coolers, cot with air matteress, loads of lights and string lights, and a bunch of extras… some people have already joked about us glamping but whatever. Both of us and both of our pets are as happy as can be when we show up to the lake

@@spencerhasty200 Spencer that tent is roughly in the $700-$800 range before vestibule. The vestibule that is either mesh is about $175 and Clear windows is about $200. I highly recommend full ground sheet and carpeting for about $150. Those are pricing estimates as it depends on what model year you buy (this is a 2019 I believe) and who you buy it from. I reviewed and shopped several hundred 4 person berth tents before buying this one. Kampa is one of the top manufacturers in the world.

This is EXACTLY what I started doing last year as well! Fiance is hot as a wolf and we live in high humidity so he refuses to do much in the summer. Bought the EZ Camp Tempest 600 inflatable for the ease of setup and those windows. We then just bring our 750 sqft portable ac. It's WONDERFUL. Now I can show this video to my friends to show them I'm not insane 🤣

What kind of A.C. Is that? I’m actually thinking a battery-operated A.C. might be best for me with all the crowds this year; may have to boondock.
@@Thinkforyourselves64 There is a link up above. Just go to it. Don't waste your money on the portable personal coolers that sell for under $100. And no real AC units can run on battery unless they are power stations with several 1000 watts. I will do a video later this summer with a 5K BTU window unit running using the generator I recommend in the Must Have generator video.

@@AquaTech225 After five years of buying and using inflatable luxury tents, I have to say the longest running models - with minor changes - are the Kampa's. They've offered the Brean style for 8-10 years and in inflatable for the last 5ish. There have been some minor modifications since Dometic bought Kampa and I think they are trying to make the Kampa line a less expensive inflatable model and their Dometic tents high end. I would make sure to buy from a tent company that is really committed to inflatable tents and their models - outwell, kampa, vango and a few others.
Last year I set up a screened 6 person tent with velcro privacy closures and used a 5,000 btu air conditioner at the corner of the entry door (splits down the middle with a zipper) to keep it cool. Also ran a household fan to circulate the air inside the tent. Worked well even into the 90’s, kept my clothing and sleeping bag dry and made for some enjoyable camping. Going to do the same this year too.

We live in Texas, and are State Park Pass holders. We have a big family and enjoy tent glamping. But Texas heat makes sleeping at night in a tent almost impossible for us. I have a window unit for each tent we own. I use a heavy duty reflective tarp on top of the each tent and then place the rain fly on top of that. I usually try to get a campsite under some trees for some added shade as well. But those reflective tarps work great. Keep heat out and keep the cold air in. At night you will need an extra blanket to stay warm. And that's with Texas night heat.

We used our first window unit for camping July 4th in Ga with record high temperatures. Works great!! We needed blankets too.
Wish we could get electric in the smoky mountains so we can use a heater in cold months!
That worked out really good. I'm still deciding what kind of air conditioner to put in my tiny camper.
So you do or don’t use an air conditioner with the reflective tarp? Is this reflective tarp just a silver top tarp or ‘special reflective’ tarp?
@@molliecornwell8569 we use the ac unit and insulate the tent bascially by using the heavy duty sun tarp. They are suusally brown on onw side and silver on the other. I buy them at Harbour Freight or Walmart.
I don't mind being hot, but when I sleep I gotta have it like a meat locker.
Derek, I totally agree. The coldest setting that is on this AC unit is 68 and with it pulling out all the humidity it felt like a meat locker all day and night long. I use this AC/Heater unit in my garage and thought I would just test it. Wow, I was blown away how awesome it worked. Just bought a black and decker 8000 btu ac and she rips! I live in Cincinnati so it gets into the low 90s in the summer and my room is nice and cool at 68 at night!

I'm busting my butt (I run two other companies) to share and show people the coolest (yeah literally) ideas and strategies to transform camping to glamping. I used a 5000 btu window air conditioner in a 8 man Cabela tent 10 years ago at Myrtle Beach in July. I set it on a plastic crate at the back door. It worked great.
Sandra, thanks for sharing. I have a brand new 5000BTU window unit that I bought last year but then the temp went down. I will be testing and video taping that later on this year. Part of the trick with AC'ing a tent is the ability to seal it up. Most american tents have too much mesh or they don't seal or you still have to use a rain fly. The tents I show don't need rain flys and you have windows to see out which makes them great for glamping. Thx

We did not go with the air. The pole version was cheaper and was “easier on our budget”. We are now looking at ordering the Brean 3 to take to Yellowstone.
@@tiffanikeyes4269 Yes the "pole versions" can be 40-50% cheaper than the "air" equivalent and that is mostly from economies of scale of production and materials costs being a little higher. Over time those numbers will even out as air tents continue to sell faster than pole versions. Regarding the Kampa Brean 3, there have been slight variation changes between the '19 '20 and '21 so make sure to look at the schematics and even chat/talk with whoever you buy your tent from. There are some nice packages for the '19 and '20. And those years you can still get the pole or air extension which is really really nice. I'm not seeing the extension on the '21 as Dometic has bought Kampa. Also, if you ever wanted a Technical Cotton (the most expensive material) you can still buy a '20 Air TC with Extension - a big budget but an amazing tent in 3 or 4 person for 10-20 years. One other question. How do people stay in these tents WITHOUT an AC? There is not a whole lot of ventilation.
@@tiffanikeyes4269 in Texas most people don't camp between the Memorial and Labor Day as it is just too hot. And a lot of mesh is not the answer as our REI Kingdome Six is half mesh on the front but you have to keep the rain fly on it because it can rain any time especially a stray thundershower in the middle of the night. I think that is why this video has hundreds of thousands of views and more viewers keep coming. One thing we do is use a "cannon" fan from Ryobi with their lithium ion battery packs. It's a huge fan 18" and runs for about 14 hours on their big batteries (we either bring several batteries or recharge) and the fan also runs on electricity - here's the link - amzn.to/3wnNXAp. We use the Ryobi platform for lights, fans, chain saws, and inverters, etc for camping/glamping.
Regarding buying tents, we used to have a link to Camping World UK but they are changing their affiliate program right now. We buy most of our tents from them or outdoorxl.com. They both have different deals and have inventory from different models/years. Make sure to look closely as Kampa has changed the design of the Brean 3 which affects the ventilation. One last hack - put your fan next to the mesh pushing the air out - that will pull fresh air in.

Thanks for the vid. My wife loves glamping, but she has MS which makes the heat a challenge. I was concerned we'd be in trouble with a beach campout, but I think we'll do fine with 12,000 btu's in my Arizona GT 12 after watching this! PS- I bought some portable, rechargeable fans that run about $20-30 on a certain site. They got good reviews so I got one to test, then three more when they lived up to expectations for those nights that don't need as much fire power or you don't have 120 V. They'll run for 8 hrs. on med speed, stand on a table or hang from a built in hook.
Michael, I have to tell you that you and your family are the reason I started this channel and have spent a ton of money researching, testing and putting videos together to help everyone enjoy camping more. So many people don't know or are not sensitive to understand that every body can't go "roughing it" but they still want to enjoy the outdoors. They can just go camping like I did with my son in the 100 degree heat a few weeks ago for seven days. But my wife would never tolerate that kind of heat.

Edward - thx for the compliment. Yes this would be a great tent for three kids and two adults or look at the bigger ones we have in our videos. All of the tents in these videos are inflatables that come from the UK/Europe as air tents aren't sold in the US. If budget is not an issue my video Tent Mahal is a beyond gorgeous tent for six and has eleven tinted windows. Outwell does not make that model any more but they have several similar. Let us know which tent you get.
Been using ac & heat tent for 25+ yrs. With a relatively inexpensive 8 x 8 tents. Bought in usa and made in china like most. Nofhing as elaborate as your tent in video. Thanks for the video
Thomas, love hearing about your experience. Sounds like you've been glamping for a long time. And yes I grew up with the Kmart and inexpensive Coleman tents and gear starting 50 years ago! There is nothing wrong with those tents, they just don't have the features and functions of the tents coming out of europe. Many years ago I made an enclosure around the front of a window A/C unit that I had 10' outside the tent connected to the tent with 2 lengths of flex duct. It was much quieter being away from the tent and it did a good job of cooling the tent but because of it having to run almost continuously it seriously dried out the air in the tent to the point where your throat and mouth were uncomfortably dry. I scrapped the idea for that tent but tried it later in a canvas tent with a canvas drop cloth over it and it worked much better much more comfortable.
Sam, great to hear your idea. I had this AC unit in my garage for the hot summers where I have my golf simulator and HD giant screen so I thought I would try it. I will have a video out shortly about using a window unit and how well it worked. The one problem with having an ac unit away from your tent is keeping it dry or away from the elements. Yes sir! We've been doing this for probably 10-15 years. You just cant comfortably camp in Texas during the Summer without it. It gets cold in there. It's like staying in a hotel where you crank up the AC.

We tent camped for 6 years with a window unit a/c. Key west in July was sooooo hot outside we didn’t even make coffee. 🤪 have a 100,000 plus class b van and miss the tent camping .
Ricky - awesome - wow a $100K B van I'll bet that is sweet. We will be testing a 5K BTU window unit later this summer running off a generator. I totally get the RVs for all the comfort and amenities - at the same time the air tents coming out of the UK and other countries (as shown in our videos) are 10X better than what is being sold in the states. Because of this video, I got the Kampa Hayling 6 air pro and I hope it works the same way.
We love our Hayling 4 and the 6 will give you that much more room. Make sure to get the mesh/clear front vestibule. We use the mesh in the summer time (see most videos) and then I just added the clear plastic panel one for the fall. I will show that in the next video using a heater and inverter generator. Great video and info, I purchased the Otter insulated Monster Lodge, it's an ice fishing tent has 8 windows about 9'x14' a door at each end, I use the Midea U 8,000 BTU AC unit, works great! to run this I built a rather large solar generator using 4 Battleborn 100 Amp Hr lithium ion phosphate batteries, Victron charge controller, a 3,000 to 6,000 surge pure sine wave inverter with 4 Sunpower 170 watt panels.
Mike, - darn that's way above my pay grade. Plus I have people freak out by simply cooling (or heating) my tents! 🙂 Actually I have a Midea 5K btu window unit that I had cooling a tent last year and will work to get a video out soon. I like the solar gen system you put together and using the lithium batteries. I have the Ryobi 4 brick 6ah 40V power station that produces about 3k watts, but I have to use a generator, car, or hookup. The power station is great for at 10pm when you have to turn engines off in parks to let it run things for several hours. I needed this for my husband. He hates to sleep in the heat. I grew up without air conditioning in Oklahoma. So I’m okay with it.
Susan, trying to sleep or camp when it is hot and muggy is just miserable. I don't mind that when we are scouting or I'm camping with guys but my wife and son don't love it and it makes them want to come home after a night or two. On this particular trip/video I think we glamped for 6-7 days at 68 degrees - it was awesome. Thanks for your comments. @@intentsglamping I bought my husband an xl zero gravity recliner for Christmas. I’m hopeful that if he can recline and be comfy, he will want to get out more. I also put a portable potty in a privacy tent within our big tent. I’m pregnant and have three little kids. It was a game changer last time we went.

Half the time i go camping in south FLA during the summer with a sleeping pad and mosquito net. You dont need any of this crap. The only reason to take a tent is if there is over 50% chance of rain.

That is awesome! I have the same portable ac unit. I brought it camping in June in Texas last year and forgot the discharge hose! Epic fail! This inspires me to try again and not forget the hose.

I work at Eagle Bluff Resorts on the Illinois River near Tahlequah Oklahoma. We have 95+ degree temps during the summer. I found at night while camping, a fan will work just fine.
Totally agree with you when we go camping. My son and I are going this weekend and only taking a 3 person backpacking tent with a Ryobi lithium ion fan and 9ah battery packs. When we go glamping and want to entertain and be in the tent in and out during the day and it's 95 outside and can get to 100 inside the AC is amazing.
Did I miss the part about what powers it? Current bush.....Generator...110v outlet on a tree? Im assuming this is a regular campground with power. Im going to do this with my generator and mini AC unit this week and see how I like it.

Just 1 thing, sunlight carries heat and is the enemy of air conditioning.
Put a tarp off the side of your beautiful setup to block most or all of the direct sunlight from going through you nice windows, unless you can somehow double glaze the clear part of the window.

The air tube tent in this video and others all have curtains you can tab or zip up and that really blocks the sun. For the ultimate our "Tent Mahal" see the video to see the large tent has a reversible cover. One side is black to absorb heat for the winter and the other side is shiny metalic to deflect the heat! That is InTents Glamping.
In this video once the temp got down to 68 (with almost no humidity in the tent) it was almost too cold. The AC unit removed the humidity and it was not only cold but crisp like a wonderful winter day - but you could still hear all the bull frogs, crickets, birds and night sounds that you don't during winter camping. It was such an awesome experience.

Bryan, it sounds like you have the power gear and ac the next most important is a tent that you can seal up. Our REI kingdome 6 doesn't work as there is too much mesh. Let us know how it goes and what you learn.

Kampa has made some really really nice tents. I'm hoping that Dometic doesn't change them too much as they are trying to create a Toyota and Lexus line up with Dometic being the high end tents. We also like the Vango and Outwell's as they all have different features and functions. But the Brean 3 Air is our favorite 3 person and the Hayling 4 air is our favorite 4 person. Technical camping is when you are in extreme situations like weather, height, terrain or other dangers and you need specialized gear, equipment and knowledge. If you've ever seen people camping on the side of a cliff using pitons to stabilize their set up - that is technical camping. That is different from bushwacking, roughing it or other kinds of basic camping. Hope that helps.

Brian yes. I actually prefer camping with all the mesh open to hear the forest noises and fresh air. But when it is in the mid nineties and 80%humidity it’s hard to sleep. Please share with others. That big fan moves a lot of air and their large lithium batteries can run it for about 14 hours! Let me know if you want to know which Ryobi and batteries. Yes, if you can do that. The problem is the mountains are about 8-10 hours away from us so that is not an option for a weekend.

I like the way you hook up your tent .I have always thought about having an air conditioner in the tent but we can not have generators where we camp.
John do they not allow generators because of the noise? Mine runs about 60-65 decibels which is state park compliant and must be shut off from 10pm to 6am. In this video I use an electric hookup. In my last video on heating up a tent I use my generator. Check it out. Thx.

Hi, I’m from the UK. I have a very similar inflatable tent, an Outdoor Revolution Airedale 5. What I do in the the porch area is not put any groundsheet down as in heavy rain it just collects the water. So what I do is put down sections of artificial grass which is ideal as it allows the water to seep through into the ground underneath and keeps that area dry and works very well. We in the UK traditionally camp on grass and that allows the water to disperse easier, rather than hard ground. I do like the idea of a air conditioner for the hotter months, although we don’t get many of them here, but it does get very warm in a tent when the sun is beating down. 👍🏻
Thanks for your input. Yes using the front ground sheet in the wet zone is an option. If we were to get rain over days or frequently then I would probably not use the ground sheet. Here in Texas we might get one storm and then nothing for the week so it is great to have the ground sheet down most of the time. Some of the ground sheets are different too. For example the outwell has a tub design in the front which was a blessing during a 2 inch downpour as the water just went around and we could have a lot of gear and things not get wet in the front zone. I don't own an Outdoor Revolution tent but they look similar to the ones we have with the Outwell, Vango and Kampa . The one you have really looks line one in the Kampa line and really high quality. Each line is a little different with features/functions/price etc. What do you like best/or why did you buy an Outdoor revolution tent?
@@intentsglamping I bought the tent about 5 years ago & it was on offer as it was an end of the line tent before the new range was released.. one of the things I liked about it was it was each air beam has a safety release valve, so when it gets warm and the air inside the beam expands it releases air automatically & stops the air beams exploding as it can do in tents that don’t have this feature & air has to be released manually. Plus the simplicity of just pumping it up & the good space inside.
@@ryszmansoundvision6572 Interesting on the pressure release valve. So far, in the five years and almost 100 days of using inflatable tents, with temperatures in the tents getting up to 126 degrees I have not see/heard a problem with the tubes. Have you actually experienced a problem of bursting or anything? When I bought the first tent late 2016 Vango I bought extra tubes just to be prepared. Let me know what experiences you've had with that. I have a tent out in the snow right now with the temps down in the single digits so it will be interesting to see how super cold weather affects tents. Its our new Kampa Brean Three Classic in polycotton with three tubes.
Also regarding bursting tubes most of the manufacturers are testing their tubes up to 22 psi but only suggesting inflation around the 7 psi range so I am really curious to hear your experiences. Thx
@@intentsglamping Hi, I’ve not had the experience of exploding air beams myself as my Outdoor Revolution Airedale 5 was my first air tent. But I’d read numerous other reviews of different models of air tents that some people had this problem. The main reason is because here in the UK our temperatures can fluctuate wildly, & a lot of campers set up perhaps about mid morning when it can be still quiet cold, & then pump up their air beam tents to the maximum psi for their particular tent, without reading the instructions carefully, then the sun breaks through & the temperature can rise significantly depending on the conditions, resulting in possible air beams exploding!

put the entire thing outside, then run the hose into the tent. They build portable ACs backwards.
Yes, you could. I put the AC unit inside the tent as it rained almost 2 inches the first night. The rain would have destroyed the AC unit.

Kimberly, this was made in a Texas state park using the RV site connection. Check with your park to find out what they offer. Texas has 50AMP and 30 AMP hookups and then two 120 Volt outlets. So I didn't need a converter but just ran an extension cord (you can see it in the video) into the tent. To make this work you will need a tent you can close up. Most american tents have too much mesh to close up. That is why we recommend air/inflatable tents from Europe. Our website intentsglampingusa.com shows a lot more details. Hope that helps.

You can buy winter tents or an A frame canvas tent so their more insulated with less mesh

I love the new trend of vinyl windows, thought of them years ago and wondered ever since why tent-manufacturers didn't use them. I love that now they do, but sadly only on the big tunnel tents! Still no weatherproof looking-out for those of us in more humble dwellings. Your tent looks fab, though, I love how you've set up the vestibule. :-D
MLC, thanks for the comments. As of right now only the European manufacturers (and a few others) are making tents with windows. If budget is really tight the tents with similar designs from Vango, Kampa and Outwell, etc are about 30-40% cheaper in a metal pole version. Start with something small in pole - tunnel design with windows. The quality of these tents is far superior than the low cost tents. Make sure to watch that video as there are dozens of tips you must know about generators and inverters.
Off the grid allows us freedom to thousands of more campsites and full boon docking for glamping/camping and get away from the cramped RV slots but have tons of electric power. I bought this generator for glamping/camping but used it for survival.
We are currently testing solar solutions and systems and will have some videos out shortly as there are so many things to know and myths to avoid before getting into solar.

JK, in most cases we glamp in state parks with the water and electricity sites. I assume you could use a generator if your off the grid. The AC units do pull a lot of amps so I make sure the camp site has 30-40. I then run an electric cord into the tent and we use it for the AC, lighting, and in the kitchen for ceramic stove and coffee pot. Remember this is glamping not technical camping. @@carlitoinyoass3345 The retail is about $1200 but it is on sale right now through camping world uk (not US) for about $800. In the video it also shows the mesh vestibule about $150 and the foot print and carpet about another $100 and I had added a Gorilla tarp with poles because of the rain storms about $50 bucks. In the winter we use a full clear plastic vestibule as you can see in other videos for about $150. Hope that helps. I highly recommend the carpet and foot print and one of the vestibules.
The trick is to always dig a shallow trench around the tent so that water runs AWAY from the tent when it rains. Don't rely on the weather report; just do it. It can be easily and quickly filled back in before you leave the camp site.

Sorry for the length of this post... It started out to be just a quick reply, but then I quickly evolved into something more... Hopefully, it will be of help to others who might consider trying to choose an air-conditioner for a tent...
I have one of the Ozark Trail cheap tents from Wal-Mart. I bought it a few (19) years ago before I flew my plane to the EAA airshow at Oshkosh. It worked well enough with a queen size air mattress for 1 person. It is supposedly a *4* person tent, but they would have to be REALLY good friends (i.e. maybe 1 guy plus 3 slim girls). Of course, I had no electricity at Oshkosh since I did not have the payload / room in my plane to put my generator in it. I have not used the tent since because my wife has no desire to give up her air-conditioning since we live in the Gulf Coast region of Texas (high humidity and high temperatures even at night). As I was searching around my garage for something yesterday, I stumbled across the tent in its bag sitting on the back of a shelf. The handles of the bag disintegrated as soon as I touched them and the fabric of the bag had burst at the seams in a couple of places, so I figured the tent was probably also trash and should throw it away. I removed the tent from the bag and noticed that the fabric still seemed good, so I decided to set it up to give it a closer examination and to see if all the parts were still there (no instruction sheet on how to set it up though).
Since I happened to have a "portable" air-conditioner unit sitting around this I had bought for use with my generator during hurricanes when the power goes out, I decided to see what it would do inside this 8x8 tent. Of course, having the tent inside the house is not quite the same as having it outside, but I figured that it would at least show me what sort of temperature differential it could attain.
One of the problems with that type of "portable" air-conditioner unit is that it a really poor design for an air-conditioner if it just has a single exhaust hose and no intake hose. With a single exhaust hose, it uses the air from inside the cooled space to cool the compressor, which is then exhausted outside the space via the exhaust hose. This creates a negative pressure area in the cooled space, so it will try to equalize the pressure by replenishing the air via whatever air leaks you might have in your cooled space (e.g. tent). As such, it is sucking in the warm outside air into the tent via any mesh panels or zippers that the tent might have. With a double hose unit, it uses the outside air via the intake hose to cool the compressor and exhausts the heated air via the exhaust hose. As such, it is not affecting the pressure inside the space, so no warm air gets sucked into the space. You still might have air leakage, but it's not a forced air leakage like happens when the single house unit is basically pumping warm outside air into the space.
On my first test of the "portable" air-conditioner in the tent, I just used the tent as it was manufactured, including the rain fly (although I did allow the rain fly to just lay over the top of the tent to restrict the airflow somewhat). It did not take long to get an 8F temperature drop in the tent (compared to the temperature of the room in which the tent was set up), but it never went below that. I figured that it had reached an equilibrium with the amount of air that was getting sucked into the tent or just seeping out through the mesh panels and that was the best it was going to do, so I decided to make the tent a bit more airtight. I took an unused white canvas painter's tarp that I had bought from Harbor Freight awhile back for use in backdrops for passport and visa photos and Zoom video conferences and draped it over the tent. The canvas tarp completely went from side to side over the top, but not so from front to back, so there was still some area that was not covered. I got inside the tent and turned on the air-conditioner. It did not take very long before I noticed the floor of the tent starting to bulge up and not too long after that, the walls started shrinking inwards quite a bit. Basically, I was shrink wrapping myself inside the tent. This proved quite graphically that this type of air-conditioner unit does most definitely cause air to be drawn in from the outside to make up for the air that it has already cooled and is then used to cool the compressor.
As such, I would highly recommend that anyone considering putting an air-conditioner in a tent to use one of the double hose units or (even better) one of the window mount units with an appropriate modification to your tent to allow for the unit to be outside the tent or if the tent already has an air-conditioning port for a window mount unit.
Oh, and by the way, the "portable" units are called "portable" because they have some small wheels mounted on the bottom. These wheels are good for moving the unit from room to room in a house if you have very flat and smooth surface, but for camping (or even moving it across a driveway), you would probably either end up carrying it or using a hand truck (bigger wheels). As such, a window unit is just as portable.
GOM, thanks for your thoughts and comments. I agree with a lot of things you stated.
A couple of things. First I discuss in the video the ventilation that I keep above the door at in the back as you do need some air flow. I agree on the double hose and the efficiency, however I couldn't find a quality (key word) AC unit that was cost effective. I know this one is about $400 but it is a high BTU 14K AND heater 10K BTU.
Although this test far exceed my wildest expectations for keeping it cool - it also dramatically reduced the humidity and made the air really crisp - nothing like sleeping in crisp cool fresh air.
I will be doing another video using an affordable ($150) window unit in a three person tent in the next month or so (we are just about at 100 degrees consistently) to show peolpe how to do this.
Also, I hate (really hate) rain flys - they shroud, suffocate and you can't see out. I will not do anything to block our windows except use the curtains inside for privacy.

@@intentsglamping -- I'm in the Gulf Coast region of Texas, so we don't really need heaters... I'm more likely to have the air-conditioning running in my house during the "winter" than I am the furnace... Our houses have the smallest available furnace in them and it puts out about 10 times the BTUs that we might actually need in a winter...
The "portable" unit like you have might be rated at 14K BTUs (mine is 13K BTUs), but I have to wonder how much of that is wasted by using the cooled air to cool the compressor and then replacing it with the hot air from outside. I have not done extensive testing on comparing the portable unit vs the window unit, but my gut feeling so far is that the 6K window unit cools as well, if not better than, the 13K "portable" single hose unit.
Personally, I don't have any desire to look outside the tent. I just use the tent as a place to sleep, so I have no problem with the rain flies and in fact wish that they would block more light so I could sleep later in the morning if I so desired. I was thinking about using my tent for a trip to Sturgis for the bike rally this year after I discovered how much the actual hotels are charging for their rooms during the events ($400+ for a room that normally goes for maybe $70)... One of the residents in Sturgis is renting spaces in their yard for the people who want to tent camp and they say that you can run an extension cord to have electricity for your tent site (and they don't have a problem with you running an air-conditioner in your tent). So, when I stumbled across the tent in my garage yesterday while searching for something else, I decided to give it a try to see how well it would work. I'm surprised that it is still in good shape after having sat around for 19 years.

In a shade maybe canvas gets warm otherwise but window openings can be adjusted and if trees are shading tent hang tarp a few feet over tent to put sun off of tent directly... Keith, yes I totally get what you are saying and I like the suggestion. I will tell you once our family and friends experienced tents with large (really big) clear plastic windows and doors that also have mesh they will not go back to using our REI Kingdom 6 or any other tents without those windows, zones and inner tent. And besides with no poles the ease of pitching, packing and no parts is so sweet. I basic and primitive camp 2-3 weeks a year with my son and buddies - but my wife and her friends will not do that anymore after learning glamping.

Brent - we'be been camping/glamping for over five years with inflatables and the windows have stayed clear - they do get a little wrinkled just like the fabric but once you have windows in your tent you will never go back to the claustrophobic tents they sell in the states

You want to get the right features and functions for how you want to camp and also the climate. For example we love our huge Vango 600xl but only for late fall and early spring. The Haylings and Kampas are great for air flow in the summer. Good luck let us know what decision you make.

Yes, we agree. Instead of purchasing a massive RV that burns up petro and oil, takes up large spaces, burns through electricity, uses tons of petroleum to make all the plastic insides, and then depreciates faster than a lead balloon, you can have a tent (even better glamping air tent) and enjoy the outdoors.

Years ago we had renovations at our house. I used a regular tent, put a king quilt over top, taped the windows and send a unity like this one. Dead summer heat and humidity in the Dallas area is killer but I slept cool ant night.
When camping 90% of the day and early evening is outside so I would say it’s a great option for summer campers. But do insulate the tent with some reflector/insulated of sorts.

Mike, sounds like you had a good plan. Yes the heat in Texas can be unbearable when you add in the humidity. Three things kept this tent really cool, 1) the fabric has a very high denier and 6000HH, 2) the windows all have curtains, and the 3) AC unit is a beast (overkill for a tent but was just experimenting with our three car garage AC unit. I will be doing a video later this summer using a basic 5KBTU window unit with a generator. I'm waiting to see what new tent I want to do that. Half the enjoyment is the sounds of nature not a loud old AC. I guess I'm just different. Course it WOULD make for a nice sleep on a hot night I suppose. Depends on what yer after. Guess if it was a family vac. it might be nice for the whole family for a long weekend or week long stay.
Totally agree and believe it or not we could hear the loud cacophony of bull frogs, birds and other summer animals at night while it felt like winter in the tent!

Off the grid allows us freedom to thousands of more campsites and full boon docking for glamping/camping and get away from the cramped RV slots but have tons of electric power. I bought this generator for glamping/camping but used it for survival.

I just bought a solar battery with 3 separate 600w outlets, is this enough voltage to buy any portable air conditioning units??
Amber, I don't have enough information from your question to know how to answer. Make sure to watch my video on Your Wife Is Still Hot Camping as I talk about generators and headroom. In that video I use the smallest quality AC unit at 5K BTU. It pulls about 474 watts an hour once the AC has started. That AC needs about 1000 watts to start the compressor. Also, most solar batteries or power storage units only deliver about 80-85 of the wattage it says. What solar battery did you get?

I’d be impressed if you had a low watt window ac rigged up that you could run with 1000 way propane generator how would you run a 1440 watt portable ?
Then you will be impressed as I have the video of a 5K watt window unit rigged up with a dual fuel generator 3.4k watt but just haven't gotten edited and published out yet. I'm waiting for below freezing temps to get the propane in tent heater video done. So stay tuned once I get caught back up from covid and other distractions a lot of videos to be seen. Nice video. All good until the power goes out I guess or if there isn't power available. We tend to camp in areas where power isn't an option.

We lost power for seven days in Texas in February with temps in the single digits and snow and ice covering everything. During those seven days we only used less than two 20lb propane tanks while heating, cooking, power charging, lights, etc in our house. We take this generator when we go off grid now and use it to heat or cool our tents. Enjoy.
Btw, with wheels as seen in the video you can take a generator a long way from the road if your camping and not car glamping.

Are you powering this off of a generator?
In this video I'm using - as I remember - a 13 amp ext cord which is about 75-80 feet connected to the RV campsite hookups. Links are in description. In the future when we go off grid I use a generator but learning and choosing which one was a nightmare. So, make sure to watch this video I did on generators and extension cords - ruclips.net/video/g77h0qYqW6Q/видео.html. When you have 30 amp or 50 amp connection (state park/generator) make sure to use an extension cord that can handle the heat and the transfer. Too small extension cords can heat up and catch on fire and also lose a lot of power if they are too long.
In the generator video I use a 30 amp 75' extension and then a splitter into two 15 amp outlets for two reel extension cords. There are links in the video description to get you to the exact ones I use in the video make sure to use those, it doesn't cost you any extra, and it helps defray costs while helping you get the equipment shown. Doug - yes I'm with you. This tent has full curtains for all windows and doors which really help keep it cool.

:-) David D, I'm not sure you have ever camped with kids or a spouse when it is over 90 degrees outside and only gets down to the upper 80's during the night with nigh humidity (heat index over 100) while sweating on top of your bed even with a fan blowing at night. Remember this is InTents Glamping not beans and beer camping.
@@intentsglamping I suffer from heat stroke and hyperhidrosis, so anything above 75 kills me lol I hate tent camping in summer in general because of the heat. I never even knew using an ac was an option in a tent, it's fantastic.
@@nhcharmedone the key is the tent. Almost all tents sold in the US have too much mesh windows, walls or doors. Our expensive REI just under a $1000 would not work for this. You must have a tent that you can seal up, however some of the Colemans you can seal up but then you get the "cocoon" or claustrophobic feeling - that's not intents glamping. I recommend tents from the UK that have windows, zones and super high grade materials. Every tent you see in all of my videos are air tube tents that can accommodate an AC OR A heater and you can then control the temperature AND the humidity in the tent. What I don't measure in this video is the humidity - there is almost none which makes the internal temp so much better and night sleeping amazing. Enjoy - please share and post more questions.

I'm wondering how it would work with their new TC (technical cotton) fabric and whether it would be pointless to run an air conditioner inside due to breathability of thins new material - anyone's tried it even in a different TC tent?
David, I own Technical Cotton tents. And have used them in the summer and winter. The breathability and the temperature difference between TC and taffeta (poly) is negligible. It might be f-10 degrees. What is interesting is that tents with TC are usually high end tents which means you can pick up many more features. Like more panels or air venting, more windows/doors with mesh, etc. I will have a video coming out soon showing our Kampa Brean 3 TC with the extended inflatable two massive window canopy. For the cost and the time it takes to set up we decided we would be better off buying a used pop up with a roof A/C unit. Best purchase ever.
Melissa, that sounds great. That is one of the three forms of glamping - mobile, fixed structure, car/family tent.
Our channel is about luxury family air tent glamping. The whole set up you see in the video is about $1500-$1800 and it doesn't require any special storage, hauling, plates, insurance, and can be set up anywhere. We love all forms of glamping however we love the luxury tent glamping because we can entertain inside and see out everywhere. Our big tent - Tent Mahal - has had 12 people in it before. most tents have mesh roofs now with a tarp over the top. not made for cold weather at all. your tent would be hot without an ac in it with it being fully enclosed but i'm sure it's great for cold weather camping. problem with mesh tops is the ac unit would just blow the air right out of the top, just like with a heater.
John, I own tents that have a lot of mesh and some that don't from the states. Regarding the tent in the video the front door and side door are all "no see um mesh" and full panel and there is a panel in the back with mesh that can be open or closed. Also there is a small mesh area above the front door so there is mesh on every side of this tent. Every mesh part except the part above the door can be sealed up so this tent is great for summer or winter whether you use an a/c or heater. In addition, this tent, like most high end tents come in the breathable "polycotton" which I just bought one. The breathable hybrid material keeps tents cooler in the summer and locks in air in the winter.

I'm so glad that I'm not the only one that ordered a tent from Europe. I have an outwell XL. It does not have ventilation that your tent has and it gets hot. I am very much going to try this. Hello from Wisconsin.

@@intentsglamping I misspoke I have the outwell Hornet XL I've had it for several years now. I really like it but it does get so hot
@@pun-nm7th I remember reviewing the Hornet XL before I bought my Outwell Clarkston 6a. The Hornet is a great tent but too little vents and mesh. The Clarkston has three three panel doors and venting under every window. The Hornet is a great tent for up north where it doesn't get higher then the upper 80's. In Texas I felt we would melt or suffocate. The latest trend in air tents - believe it or not - more air - flow. Out well has a new model coming out in 2021 June- the roseville with a ton of mesh, windows and vents - plus a removable barn door in the middle you can move to the front. We might have to get one! Lawrence, thanks for your comments. I was just experimenting using the portable AC/heater out of our garage. It worked so much better than expected - as it pulled the humidity out of the air while it made the temperature nice and crisp. Appreciate your comments please share and watch other videos.
