- In the footsteps of the last Kyrgyz nomads of the Afghan Pamir, we are the witnesses of a unique event in one’s life: a wedding.
Wulluq Bu, one of the daughters of the clan, is getting married soon. She doesn't know her future husband yet, it is part of the tradition, but she is anxiously waiting to see what he is like. When she gets married, she’ll have to leave her family to live with her husband, a member of the neighboring clan. A memorable ceremony in the beautiful snowy landscapes of the himalayas.

I was in Afghanistan. Its a mysterious, vast, amazing, ancient place that never leaves you.
For people who are making sarcastic or rude comments I would keep you're mouth zipped shut!!! Do you know why that is? Everywhere in the world people have different traditions and are proud of them. You may have ones that you do differently and are proud of and wouldn't want people saying anything about the way you do yours . If they are happy I'd say congratulations to them and wish them well and peace ✌️ be upon them. That is the way to be a humble person not talk down about someone else's ways. Love from Canada 🇨🇦 ❤️
"Nasty" comments ? Really ? I think they are now "directed" to the bottom part of the thread, for the best.
I don t know if those people realise that such gardians of anciant traditions are such a precious library for thr history of mankind. As we say in my culture, masha Allah.
@@adansylvestres8080 b j
Probably these people do not imagine, that through this record, their traditions are also admired in such unlikely places as here in the interior of Brazil.
Wonderfull. It makes me so happy that this variety of cultures still exist. Nothing is more dangerous for the evolutionary progress of mankind than the uniformity of globalism that is brought by technocracy to masses.
🌷👏😊
I find your comment gibberish.
@@Kiki-en9vm hi Kiki. I guess you are right. My statement here is very condensed and therefore difficult to understand. I was trying to say that I love to see in this series of documentaries how much varieties of peoples with their own cultural customs still exist. I fear for the time when all mankind has melted into some global uniformity. I think that would pose a danger to our survival in the long run because evolution requires variety. Technocrats think that only the future they are working on has ultimate survival value, but that is not what evolutiontheory says. Survival comes from variety, while uniformity is a path to an eventual death. That is why life on earth has evolved in so many varieties.
@@alfreddaniels3817 , mother nature taught us to keep on moving but on civilized society I beg to differ from your view . View differ from person to person and that is the essence of a human .

Don't forget the homogeneity of Islam. Pre-600s, West and Central Asia actually had a diversity of faiths, cultures and civilizations, among them Christianity, Zoroastrianism, Manichainism, Mitraism, Yazidis, Buddhism, Hinduism, Tengrism, Shamanism, even Greek Paganism. Most of their rich art, architecture, literature, culture have disappeared and been forgotten.
Everything is so beautiful. May the tribe thrive happily. Allhamdillah!
Afghan Turks are among the kindest people, we have many of them who work in my country, they are very nice
Simple, inexpensive tradition loved by the people of that part of the world and that is enough for me to respect it. Some people simply don’t like to change and we must understand that in the same way that we want them to understand us. Isn’t that simple folks???❤️
Four sheeps plus the rest :i think it is pretty expensive for them.
This is a very small tribe living way up north in the deserts and mountains . Their ancestors settled in this area when they fled china . Their culture is actually its mixed of Chinese; Tajik , eastern Iran. I lived in Kabul in the late 60s and early 70s . Very liberal city , women had the latest fashion from Europe. They had nigh clubs , swimming pools with men and women together, women were Wearing miniskirts walking down the street. I am not sure what happened to this beautiful amazing county after the Russians and the United States got involved. Such a beautiful country and very rich culture. Lovely people: God bless all Afghans.
what you say is true! so sad about the gutting of Afghanistan
Very interesting, and well explained... I must admit, it's really a hard life, I feel for the young lady... far too young... It must be incredible difficult... not knowing your groom at all and yet to be in the same hut.... Still, different culture.. Wishing you well... 💞🇮🇹
My beautiful nation….. thank you so much that you all loved it……💐💐❤️❤️
Love my beautiful country wishing peaceful and prosperous year ahead ❣️🇦🇫

Hhh Gunner, Afghanistan has the most beautiful landscape I've seen anywhere on earth, how I wish I can one day get to visit and see the snowcapped mountains, the Hindu Kush especially. I know it's not possible at the moment but I really look forward to that.
If it's their way, don't interfere. We are afraid when some kind of animals become extinct, don't let cultures become extinct pls.
These people are ethnic Kyrgyz from Afghanistan. Afghanistan is a racially diverse nation.

It’s just a different way of doing things, marriages are made in all sorts of ways. Love isn’t always enough to save a relationship and at least for this couple they have the support of both sets of in-laws. It’s not how I would do things but I wouldn’t outright dismiss it because it’s different. As long as both the bride and groom are committed to making their marriage work then hopefully love will grow in time.
Absolutely amazing...thank you ok j for sharing this.its like a piece of history snatched from the past and dropped into this century

This people ethnic kyrgyz people who migrated from Kyrgyzstan in 19 century from Russian imperial army who was killing local nations at that time.
I'm from Türkiye. Our government brought nearly 5.000 Pamir Kyrgyz, our ethnic brothers, in the the mid-1980s and settled them in some eastern towns with a cold climate like theirs. Now they are Turkish citizens. But they keep their traditions well. They never marry outside their community and engage mainly in animal husbandry.

Good to see that islam did not take away the colour and festivity inherent in their culture
they are not arabs! Turks love the red color like chinese and Mongols.

They are kirghize people who live in Afghanistan
Made me confused: they are Kyrgyz, but speak Tajik language, or whatever you call it Dari?
They live in pamir Afghanistan so it's normal for them to speak Dari to communicate with neibouring people like tajik, Uzbek and pamiri

OLD OR NEW?
watching the slice documentaries is fascinating, to see how people in the 21st senture still live like that, it is like taking a time travel machine. The comments are very positive, admiring this or that culture, but I am sure none of us in the west would want to live like that. Plus there is so much primitivism like all these arranged marriages, killing an animal to bring as a present, playing with a headless goat, I am like .. no, thanks,. I am thankful I live in Europe with access to water, electricity, etc basics and access to education. I dont see anything beautiful in this way of living eighter.
I like the traditional dresses, but yes, I couldn't live like that, I know there were arranged marriages in Europe too, I also like history, and I dislike too much liberalism, but I'm glad that I live in Europe and I can choice what way I want to live, if I was born there I would be married and I would have like 5 kids by now
I think what is somewhat 'better' in these more traditional cultures is they don't pollute the Earth so much, they use much less plastic etc
Official language is persian dari is indouropian and roth of persian language my parents from a true they speak dari in Iran 🇮🇷 I speak some dari well speak persian I understand what they speak Afghanistan 🇦🇫 is interesting place which different people they speak pashto and Turkish also i whish to all peace ✌ 😊

Great to watch the wedding ceremony.
Is my Country😭😭😭😭
This girl is too young to marry. Shameful.
nah, its a hostile region living-wise & people don't get to live as long. so might as well start young. Romeo & Juliet were only in their teens (her 13) and it wasn't that long ago that Americans married quite young. my great grandmother (marrying in late 1800s) was 15. something that is part of their culture is not seen as shameful to THEM. you are judging it through your own lens. And this is partly why western nations have some of the lowest birth rates - because they wait so DAMN LONG to get married & have kids. If you want to preserve a culture you must have kids - lots of kids that will make it to adulthood.
This isn't Afghanistan. . its Kyrgyzstan

I find it Abit hard and brutal to the girl
They should allow their girls to get married at 20 or 18 . Not below 14 as it is here.
You live in a totally different world and place! Living in these mountains, as soon as the girls go through pubirty they are considered to be ready to get married. Parents want less mouth to feed and husbands want them young so they can trained to be more obedient. Tough life for the girls!
See it from their point of view. Things will be more clear

Lovely film. So as some point islam ( a fairly new religions) was imposed on or accepted by these people. I wonder what the age of the girl was.
Marriage age does not have anything with Islam in islam marriage age is not explained or forced anyone can do marriage after 18 islam does not impose any rule for marriage it is cultural and communities personal choise if they're educated they will allow marriage after 18 and if they're illiterate they would marriage before 18 too wich is not good
They are Kyrgiz who accepted islam during 13th-14th century under Mongol empire. The ancient religion of Turks and Mongols were Shamanism.
