- Ford Ranger 3.0 V6 EcoBoost double cab Raptor 4WD outputs a whopping 292 kW and 583 Nm of torque, which is directed to a permanent 4 wheel drive system, making it the most powerful double cap bakkie you can purchase stock in south africa.
Whereas the Volkswagen Golf 8 R has a 2.0 litre engine which develops 235 kW and 400 Nm of torque, it also is equipped with a 4motion all wheel drive system.
A true story of David verses Goliath, but we know how that story ends.
To see how they stack up, TimesLIVE’s motoring team took the two vehicles to the Gerotek test track near Pretoria for a drag race.

It turned out that the drivers' abilities made a difference even when they switched cars.
Whoever thought of this race must not be allowed to suggest ideas again.

@@gavinjacobs2343 I hear you and I understand that. But to be more explicit, the Golf R demolished the Raptor. SO we don't actually know how good the Raptor is. It was a dumb pairing. They should have chosen the Golf GTi instead, maybe even the 7.5 GTI. Its front wheel drive so maybe that would have been more fair.

I'd choose the Ford Raptor honestly. It'll take you to beautiful places like Lesotho, Kruger National park etc. Its about peace of mind. The Golf R on the other hand will likely take you to the maintenance court to explain to the judge for not paying papgeld for all the kids you made while driving the Golf 🤣🤣🤣🤣

Same goes with these trucks against an Audi S3. For some reason,they always find out getting humbled by small cars with 300 + hp makes for very quick vehicles.

My Tiguan R line destroys Raptors for breakfast. I left a V6 Raptor for dead yesterday no comparison in a straight line.

@@did.it.myself9022 it’s a touch screen operated aircon. You will battle to operate it while doing 120km/h. There are no knobs and it doesn’t illuminate at night. It’s as worse as the Haval Jolion aircon touch screen fiasco. Goodluck.
The aircon/ volume touch buttons don't have backlights at night so you struggle to see where the buttons are
