not gonna lie, this is the hardest need for speed I've played. coming in 4th-6th almost every race. played almost all need for speeds and i feel like I'm decent at racing, but the physics have a learning curve i gotta adapt to
Winning outright isn't a priority, especially early game, Rydell mentions this on a call.
As the game progresses you get an idea of what cars are op in their catogory and 1st-3rd wins start coming easier. Just don't expect to win everything, like real life, even the best racers drop a race occasionally.
If you did what I did initially and picked the crown vic, then you might want to just restart the game, or build up an new car from the ground up. Re-rolled ti the Boss 302 Mustang and went from the bottom to the top real fast. Apparently the Vic is consistently the worst car in the game, at least B/A/A+.
using the firebird. love GM cars and trucks so had to pick it.
@910 I'm guessing it's too long and heavy to be of much use. Even though I've been liking the M5 as an S-class vehicle.
Same bro
Another little rule of thumb I use for building cars:
If the stock "tune" is leaning towards grip or drift, that's what the car will prefer. My lotus is set up for grip only and it loves it. But even if I set my rx8 all the way to grip, it'll still tend to break loose.
Exactly the same complaint I have. If the car isn't grip by default, it will kick and buck if you try to grip tune it.
Really made me hate my mustang
@@raith3700 oh yeah mustang I left for drift definitely
@@raith3700 ik this is late and random but maybe someone could find it useful.
The best grip build I've found for me so far is the Volvo polestar with the Bugatti engine. Hits like 227 (and fast) and corners like a beast. Definitely my favorite so far.
Yeah I really prefer drift leaning styles and the lotus is impossible to control with those settings haha
Also, i pretty much avoid neutral cars.
You explained this so well, I peeped that drift was a little bit faster in B class but didn't realize it was so radical. Appreciate you man
this dude is amazing he is always helping people with nfs games get this dude to 200k cheers for him
I agree so much, I was playing heat earlier this year and his content is just crystal clear and to the point, while having a soothing voice to boot.

Giving thanks for likes?? 💀💀
As someone who's played every NFS since Underground 1... I must say I enjoy this game. I'm only up to the end of the Week 2 Qualifier so A+ cars. But one way I've always been going about it is not only car dependent but location and race type dependent as well.
The way I've done it thats worked so far... Mountain roads and lot of tight twisty bits and mid speed corners tend to work better for drifting cars. High speed and runs that have a lot of sweeping long corners or hard braking and sharp 90 degree turns tend to be better for grip racing on the country side and freeways.
While the City courses with a lot of sharp snap backs and tight sections that are to quick for the drift setup but to slow for the grip setup, tend to be better for a balance of the two... or more the "Brake to drift/grip" that we've had in past NFS.
Having at least 2 cars for each area/style works best...at least for me.
Great video Trigger Once I realized grip cornering was possible and started doing it, I improved dramatically. Despite having so much time in NFS Heat, I just haven't yet developed the knack for drifting in this game.
In my B-Class Cuda, I do pretty much drift corners with it. With my A-Class Eclipse, I've taken a hybrid approach where I grip more subtle corners and drift the 90s or hairpins with neutral tuning. For A+ and S class though, it's grip all the way.
This is probably a dumb question but how do you actually perform a grip turn? Is that straight up using no brake?
@@randys8974 any type of turn that doesn’t involve u loosing traction is basically a grip turn. Wether u brake or not, if u start to slide or drift, that’s not a grip turn
@@jaysway8972 thank you bro!
So that's just normal turning
@@jaysway8972 I think as long as your car’s rear doesn’t kick out it counts, because I’ve had my car straight while it showed me drifting, and then when I exit the corner I get my grip turn bonus.
Its also worth noting that certain cars have crazy traits to them. My Exige is in Class A and it has insane grip, to the point where I can triple Burst straight into another corner at full tilt and not spin out unless I collide with something.
The downside is that its very twitchy and easy to trigger, meaning it can happen by accident.
Another thing that works for grip cars is when you have some burst nitrous and you find yourself understeering, it can help the car go through the corner like a slot car. It all depends on the car itself though, in the Regera for example, it’ll act like a slot car around the corners which is fantastic but in some cars it will shoot you off the road
Already worked this out myself but props to a good explanation in the video.
Cornering is heavily reliant on the boost or you will get owned online.
Also, use GRIP + Traction Control ON for S and S+
Use DRIFT AND Traction Control OFF for B to A+
is drift entry set to off or else for under s class?
@@ryuiwa3500 I'd assume so, you don't wanna do an unwanted drift especially for grip builds, some of them will just turn to the side a little too much and that will kill a lot of your momentum.
I like the grip mechanics in this game, reminds me of the driving physics of the new Grid games.
Thats funny cuz codemasters actually helped out with the handling physics in this game
@@YinHaruko_ Oh really? Makes sense then.
Kinda reminds of how the handling was in Grid 2. Had grip, balanced and drift cars. Honestly was one of the few to like that game lol
They need to help to improve drifting physics next
I like the driving physics in this game a lot in general compared to predecessors (looking at you Heat) feels more like the cars actually do what you tell them to do and not like they have a mind of their own
Amazing that Need for Speed Unbound finally has more depth in its tuning and handling that there isn't just one universal build for all cars anymore.
I agree for the most part. My B rank VW beetle is a grip build that wins pretty effectively but on any street race as soon as I bump a sidewalk I lose. How about some car building guides?
Don't turn when going over curbs or just avoid them
Can’t wait for the actual build videos especially for online
This is the first time I EVER had to search up on how to drift in nfs game... not gonna lie the difficulity which I set to intense is really INTENSE for the first race since my stock sh*t car obviously can't keep up with a freaking street racer with already build race car or I'm the one having skill issue in that game 😀
You can literally have grip builds in Heat if you build your car correctly, for instance, i own a Subaru WRX STI which is AWD, build it with the grip parts you need and it sticks to the road like shit to a blanket!
So Burst NOS works quite similarly to Blur’s boost powerup. Good for making abrupt direction changes.
You actually know blur?
Bluurrrr 😭🫶🏾
yes a nerfed version of it
Blur was the best 😭😭😭😭
What I did was took the GTR from the third week qualifier put grip tires on almost maxed out an s+ and 90% grip works like a charm.
That's the odd thing. It seems that the game is in a conflict where it seems like you have to stick with one universal car for the whole story. But then you have different types of races and corners. The extremely linear story progression and therefore money acquisition doesn't help with that either.
Thanks dude! You got the best NFS videos on the internet!
So i watched these vids with nfs heat and the vibe has completely changed, idk if i am just misremembering but his voice sounds way smoother and the music is a lot nicer, making it more pleasurable to watch in my opinion.
Am i the only one that has a Nostalgia for watching triggers heat build videos and me playing the game in general?
Thank you for this video - it literally changed the way I view the lower tier cars now. Much appreciated.
Idk if you’ll see this, but I love that they put more emphasis on grip builds this time around, I drive an S class Urus with 100% grip and honestly it’s always so rewarding, it’s not the fastest car by any means but it’s sure as heck competitive I can be anywhere in top 3 at any given time
This video was great, really helpful thanks and learnt something's I didn't know. Just subbed and looking forward to more unbound videos. Keep em coming! 💯 👊
Thanks for the sub!
There's a way, with certain cars, to initiate a drift and bring the angle down to a point where the game thinks you're both gripping and drifting. Very hard
Hey man been watching your vids for a few months now and since I'm pretty early to this one figured I'd ask a question.
Assuming you're running a full grip high tier car, how should you take a sharp 90. When I try to grip it usually ends up in the car not getting a sharp enough turning radius to avoid smacking the oncoming side of the 90 (or run off the road if there's no wall). So my question is in the scenario should you let off gas approaching then go through, brake then gas through, or drift through? And as a follow-up I've heard many people stay brake drift is ideal in this game, but this confuses me if the answer is to brake before the turn then gas through to get the grip turn nos because obviously this would cause the game to try to initiate a drift.
Anyways thanks a bundle brother and keep up the high quality content, it's extremely appreciated.
Dm me on IG, discord or Twitter. I’ll explain it in better detail
Make sure you have drift entry off and traction control on and take a racing line ( wide tight wide )
Heyhey, I recently restarted my whole save and am playing the Mazda as the start car,
but my previous save had the Mitsubishi awd which I played a grip setup on on B tier.
I gotta say that felt really nice and rewarding especially when you buy a low speed turbo
to help out on driving those corners you may have not enough speed for because of slower acceleration
I've started to boost through corners with my normal nos but then use the boost nos to straighten out the corner for more speed leaving as soon as it straightens up
backwards thinking, i like that, thanks mate
Earned yourself a sub for this exceptionally informative and professional video.
Thanks for the video. Will have to try this game again with a grip build. The handling and specially drifting just feels so weird comming from sims and simcades. Hope grip makes it a bit more normal.
Thank you. Good video with the key facts. Not too long and you’re not full of yourself like so many others. Keep it up!
i remember overtaking a dude from a sharp corner and accidentally killing him
Appreciate the video!
I bought the Buick Regal Custom in Lakeshore Online and that beast shoots out like a rocket with a nitrous burst after a drift.
I'm really enjoying the drifting while racing in this game...tons of fun!
There's also another trick if your 100%grip you can let go of throttle and tap fast to switch lane not to drift just lane switch and you can maintain your boost nitrous, due to the angle you aquire for a fast lane switch . Longest I held a triple boost was for 57 seconds. This technique is done in a straight line no turns combined with near miss and dodging cars you can get 3 bars after 3 cars
Rear diffuser can boost up your car grip, because it is "Freezed BoyFriend Engine" setting from NFS 2015.
Especially If drive "danger cannonball" like S+ 1969 BOSS 302.
Keep up the good work this channel helps me so much with NFS games
imo building a car that is a hybrid between drift and grip is gonna be the overall best solution
I realized this when i started. I wanted a grip build for the starting car, but it just wasn't working out, i remember in nfs payback when drifting every corner was the fastest way
The RUclipsr gets it he knows, it’s like he old burnout games but you gotta know what your tuning !
Thank you so much, I watch you since I began NFS Heat and you've been helping me so much with my builds and playstyle. Just to know that there is someone making videos and I can trust the given information makes me really happy! So thank you!
Gripping is the fastest way for cars A+ and above, if you master the burst nos, you dont have to brake and you can just steer through every corner while in the burst.
So cheap
Trigger thanks for the video; I put unbound on my ps5 external HD because it was too hard to play. Your tips got me through week one.
Excellent! Thanks for the heads up! I completely overlooked grip! Thank you.
Glad to help!
This video is coming out at the perfect time because I am starting to build a B class car for the Grand race and I did not know if the grip tunning would be different for lower class cars. This will help a lot for the B class race for The Grand.
I don't think you need a B-tier car for The Grand. Just A, A+, S and S+
@@McTensh1 yep correct, no B Class needed for the Grand.
Nice tutorial! This vid does help add a bit of complexity to the game in my mind. And its pretty cool
its just more fun to fly 200mph drifting through corners in s+ honestly
Im a drift cornering guy, but i built up the Foxbody with high grip and downforce, it dont beat every supercar but keeps up with them running at 228MPH, i actually dont have enough gears on the big O and it starts hitting the Rev limiter
Youre good at in depth explanation. Youre gifted and patient when making videos. Im super lazy when making videos. I still won't change. Ha
I’ve never been a big NFS fan , but I’m really enjoying my self on this game!
Also, great vid !
It's pretty old now, but my absolute favorite NFS is the 2nd Most Wanted also created by Criterion. Then this new one Unbound, then the original Most Wanted. If you haven't had the chance to play either Most Wanted, I would highly recommend them. Unfortunately they are both 2 generations old now. The original isn't available on PS3 by the way but you can get both for the 360.
This game remind me of asphalt 8 been looking for this sensation in years thanks to this game
I've taken my BRZ to S class and am just waiting for the final week to upgrade everything to elite. I've gone from running it as a grip car, to a drift car as I've got more comfortable and confident with drifting corners while collecting NOS to use to boost out of them. Grip turning is probably faster, but drift turning is way more fun. The only issue I have with my car choice is that with drift turning the car can sometimes be hard to control as it'll start a drift when I don't want it to and I can lose places. But far more dangerous than that is the traffic on some courses which turns the result into a bit of a lottery imo.
1:20 he expertly jumped in front of the car, now all he gotta do is collect the money
Lmao
what is griping?
I dislike drifting in this game, so I try to build all of my cars for grip.
Very good videos man about this game . This one and the top 5 tips is insane thanks bro
Thank you!
Well explained. thanks for the video
same as you i noticed this the first day online, every player telling me the same, and i was used to these arcade racing games i did alll the NFS , all the burnout , but coming from forza Horizon 5 it was plainful at the start for me online, so i went in the solo, and now i'm much better, it's not NFS hot pursuit in this way , it retrains some of the heat handling imho.
Legend, this is good. appreciate the content helpful Stuff.
You know it's beyond disgusting the game never explains these methods, Shame on Criterion, So thank you for pumping out these videos.
there nothing wrong with it chill
@@randymarsh4748 OTIO. Not explaining key gameplay features is determental to the experience, but you know continue the narrative of pating triple A developers for rushing products out the door without care.
@@scottsantacruz313 I think games are better when the players are not treated like babies/idiots where every small/obvious thing needs to be explained instead of letting them learn with experience
@@randymarsh4748 To perceive that not explaining key gameplay mechanics is okay and write it off as hand holding/calling a player a idiot is wrong, where it not for this video I personally never would of understood the UNEXPLAINED Grip/Drift Boost mechanic, especially frustrating as it is key to even progressing in game, so while over explaining something can be annoying at times, it is better to be armed with knowledge rather than being denied said knowledge.
Dude I love they included that grip style 💟
It's great with a wheel
Thrustmaster T300 + Wheel Stand Pro V2 + IKEA Poäng 💟
If a game requires you to do so much research for a basic element like cornering, no wonder it failed. They got so much right with this game. Why do they have to mess up the basics
Can someone help?
So if I have a grip car ( for example the lotus), during a sharp turn at high speeds, am I suppose to HOLD the break for like 2 seconds? Or use the hand break? I feel like no videos are explaining this in depth
have S tier Evo IX with 10% drift. Works great for me.
Great video! Dumb question do you have another video giving tips on how to grip corners?
Yeah first thing I noticed right out the box is how The turbo turns basically turned an already Arcady game into a complete joke. It really defeats the purpose of taking any proper lines because its an easy cheap soft reset anytime you make a quick mistake. Lol I try not to but cant help but to abuse it every few seconds. Makes the game feel more like burnout
Nice video. First of yours I've seen.
Nice guide, i learned something today man! One question tho, what do you define as low tear cars, it’s like B/A/A+ or just B/A? Keep up the good work man, your doing well!
B/A would be low tier, once you hit A+, 300 kmh cars are possible so things start getting quick in a game where the sense of speed is pretty damn high in the lower cars.
Just what I need to watch since buying this game on Monday.
Amazing video and great explanation of the mechanics, thx
Wondering how far the drift/grip scale should be. Is a max drift car good or will it slip so much it won't be even able to go straight? Or a full grip one versus something around the 40% grip?
Grip build eclipse is amazing for low tier
no matter how i corner, other players with same tier cars accelerates like they're on upper tier. at some point, i thought they were just cheating 🤷♂
Can’t lie, I hate the corner king events in S+ cause I can’t get the grip builds right for them. Granted I have an F40 lol
Thank you so much I put over $300,000 in my eclipse but couldn't win any high s rank races cause I though drifting was the best from early rank experience.
Muscle cars in this game are amazing for drifting
Don’t mean anything if the AI is absolutely perfect and never loses speed 😭😭😭 I’m tired of Waru and the mfs that drive the 350z and C8
Shit be having me SWEATING lmaoooo
But halfway through the month
Lol just u wait until u race against the laferrari, u will hate that mf
It takes a lot of practice on my maxed out, S classed DB5 while I need to control my drift for mountain pass because my maxed out S class DB5 is too heavy for drifting on the mountain pass.
I've been trying to teach ppl this for years on Undercover. It's almost exactly the same thing as Ebrake/Nos on Undercover. But instead this gives bursts and doesn't work quite as great as the heroic engine in Undercover. With me holding all world records on Undercover on the 360 besides Rasta. Some listen while others don't. On Undercover you never have to leave high gear, this is why manual is much more important to use over automatic in Undercover
I take the corners from the out side in. Not from the inside out. my son in-law has been playing this and the Heat version when i told him he was taking the corners wrong. He did not believe me. So i played one single course game. And killed all his records. He was like holly crap. I never played need for speed heat or unbound before. But in the pasted years ago i played need for speed hot pursuit. And i leaned you can cut time and pass people mega easy be taking the corners by starting from the out side then heading into the corner. Try it.. you will see it is much better then the way you are doing it right now.
Any tips on how to drift in this game? Trying to complete the drift zones but I have no luck with them.
Stock suspension stock tires rwd car loads of power and only use the the nos to get up to speed
I also think FWD cars in lower tier are better for gripping because thats natural for them.
A low class RWD car will be a bad grip car.
Nice cornering guide 😎🔥
Wait you get NOS for normal turning? Or what the heck is the grip turn it just seems like normal turning to me I don't get it
great video! very helpful
Great video. Thanks for the info👍
I just got my Regera and it is so fast I could not turn but this helps a lot :)
Thanks man thats the video i needed !
Keep up the good work!!
I haven't played the game yet, but as you explained it it's giving me so much NFS World vibes where you could use your nitro to straighten yourself like that aswell
Missing out lol.. good game
Hi !!! So what button do you push, when and why if you want to grip ? Been searching about this for days.
Can u make a video on how to make good car builds? Idk how some players make godlike car builds especially for lower class cars
I do wish you could unequip NOS like in Heat, personally I like trying to win without.
Heat's handling was perfect to me. I have no idea why they had to change things. It just feels weird and annoying now.
Thanks a lot. I'm gonna try this
great videos. I am really confused by the grip--drift meters...should I go all the way for the max grip if possible? I just reached S+ stage of the game though. thansk.
Thank you for the videos I don't know why but drifting and cornering in this game is so annoying and not fun at all
Oh you like thet easy sht route then smh
Hey buddy I really new to NFS and I'm really struggling with the drift events have you got any tips for beginners on drifting
