I am absolutely dazzled by your artistry and by the time you devoted to teaching YOURSELF how to use this tool, and how you have shared this with the public. It is just AMAZING and WONDERFUL!! Thank you very, very much, Sonya!!!!
Bless your heart! My used 50th Anniversary set just arrived from Amazon! Tore the package apart, but no instruction book. Luckily I chanced onto your video because I didn't remember enough from the "old days", plus you have tips that I never would have thought of. The very best was how to overlay (underlay?) a pattern under an existing one. In a Facebook group we had deliberated the other day between spiro-ing in pencil first and inking over it later vs. masking the existing pattern, but you solved that problem. Posted it immediately. First thing I'm doing is losing the pens and trying my own. Thank you so much, Sonya! Feeling like a kid at Christmas.
Hi Marissa, I believe if you Google search "Spirograph Manuals", you might be able to find the pdf versions of the manuals. I am almost sure I saw them when I was searching for information on the Spirograph.
Great tutorial Sonya! Went to the garage and dragged my $1 garage sale Spirograph to give it a try. Mine doesn't have the instruction book so your video helped immensely! This is FUN!!! :)
Hello Sonya :) How fun :) I have to go and see if I can find mine, I am pretty sure I have it here somewhere :) thank you for the walk down memory lane :) tfs, and Have an Outstanding Day :) amy
I forgot how much I loved these! I found one at the Dollar Tree that is plastic and is built for kids to carry around, it has about 5 wheels I think. I got it as a party favor but after seeing your video I busted it open!
I think this video might really help people who are struggling to get the hang of Spirograph. You clearly explain some of the basic concepts the way you figured them out, which is hard for me to do because it's kind of like riding a bike - once you get it, you've got it and then you don't have to think about the details anymore. Good job. I've written a blog post about this video: spirographicart.com/2015/09/06/learning-spirograph/
Were some of your designs done with a Spirograph Cyclex? I have one of these as well as a couple of vintage traditional sets, and some of your patterns look like they were made with a Cyclex, my latest 'toy'.
muskndusk some were done with a "Spiral Doodle Tool" that I found in a kit at Book-A-Million. I think it is similar to the Cyclex. I looked and looked for a Cyclex and haven't been able to find one yet!
That’s a good introductory tutorial. I like the way you show how NOT to do things as well. Here is a PDF of the original manual that you show in the video for anyone who needs it: www23.zippyshare.com/v/Ci6yhwYz/file.html One thing I don’t understand is why you ditched the tray. It has large numbers next to each wheel and it is so easy to put the wheel back in the right holder. You almost couldn’t lose one.
+9laral9 Oh thanks!! Mainly I ditched the tray because I travel for work all the time and it is just easier for me to handle a small bag or box than a big box.

Well thank you so much! I really appreciate that! Hope you are creating something amazing :)
Very helpful! It was exactly what I was looking for to help me out.
+Rebecca Olvera Awesome! So glad it could help. Would love to see what you are doing with it!
