thank you so much for this. i had the 1980s set and am looking to get one again as an adult. when i was a kid it always confused me how to make anything coherent so i just gave up and played with other kits instead. but my creative juices are flowing and youtube to the rescue.
This was SUPER helpful! I started messing around with a Spirograph recently and wondered about layering designs and this was the perfect help! Love the math part too! I feel like I’m grasping it more now than just messing around in bafflement 🙃
I ordered this today for my granddaughter who's 6 and she is very artistic. she will love this.. as I loved it as a child. Your demonstrations and information helped so much thank you! With your demonstrations she'll really really love it!
TY TY TY TY!! This has helped me out so much!! I used one as a kid with a ZILLION HOURS OF JOY!! Glad to have a nice set again!! But, I had forgotten some of the basics. My 3rd one turned out so nicely!! Very well explained.
This is very eye opening. My 'rents gave me a lot of secondhand toys when I was a kid, and I ended up with just the gears and no base. Of course I never figured out how to make the funky shapes.
If you made a spread sheet with the most common, why not write a q&d spread sheet formula to just calculate it? You could even plug in hole location and start/stop location. Let me know if you want me to write it for you. Love the channel!
Hello and thank you! Would you please recommend the best adhesive (e.g. what you used in this video) and the best paper - I am finding the paper splits after 3 or more spirographs.
The splits may be caused by very wet ink. Maybe his suggestion of ball point pens would be better. 🤷♀️. I think he is using poster putty to hold the rings in place.
OK, since we're playing "String Random Words Together," shoebox moonpie bandaid. Or, sidewalk treebranch woodshed. How about loveseat drumset thermostat? Floortile doorknob rosebush!! Hey, this "make no sense whatsoever" thing is fun!!
Why the fuck is this explained so difficulty! All I hear is numbers. I’m a 33 year old mum whose trying to show my little girl how to do this as the box didn’t come with instructions but watching this is frazzling my brain and making me want to rip my hair out
Thanks for being clear and coherent. I am a 71 year old and I always wanted one, so I bought one for my grandson and now it's on and poppin!

WONDERFUL, NO OTHER VIDEO GAVE THIS KIND OF DETAIL ABOUT SPIROGRAPH THAT YOU DID, LIKE lcm METHOD AND HOLE-WHEEL COMBINATIONS ... THANKS FOR THE VIDEO

Very helpful - packed with info from start to finish with no BS in between thank you!
My mind is blown! I don't think I ever systematically did spirographs but this is so cool!
So so helpful .. I can’t thank you enough .. I was struggling.. now knowing the 1/2 cm movements has made such a difference .. I enjoy it now 😁🙏🏽
This is the first time I've heard of spirograph math. Very interesting.
So happy to have found this. Thanks for your generosity in sharing.
doing the math has changed everything, thank you!

Excellent video! Great information and examples
This is so detailed and cool. Loved it. Thank you!
Thanks for explaining the possible variations. You did a better job than the guide the kit comes with!
AGREED..!!!
Plus with the one I have it is written in. 05 font
well explained thank you makes so much sense now
Very clear! - Nice one
Good morning,.. Thank you for your work. I wish you a good day..
How do you move the inner wheel without missing/slipping the teeth? For me that is the hardest part of it.
Cool. A bunch of ideas. Really cool. Thanks a bunch.
The explanation in your video is very nice. I have one of these sets. What is the use of this design? I hope you will answer the question.
This is super information - Question - How do you find the "Least Common Multiple"?
What are you siding to keep your rings stable? I always get cramps from holding my rings in place.
wooow, thanks for the video 🤗

Parametric equation time!
x = R cos(θ) + Rp cos(θ/R - θ)
y = R sin(θ) - Rp sin(θ/R - θ)
Thanks, this made sense to me! Do you ever put the gear on the outside of the ring? Does the math work the same way for the number of points?
Please tell me where I can find the lcm spreadsheets mentioned here!

I got one for Christmas is it supposed to come with the putty my box didn't have any
I am a Beginner but I saw a long thing. It looks like a measure tape, but it’s plastic. It’s with the circle. What is it?
Very cool thanks!
What type of pen do you suggest or work better for you? Great video. Thanks.

@@ApartmentKing66 Those words were not random.
How do you use the straight thing verses the round ?
Very cool!
It's kind of hard to understand the instruction guide
😢It's a bit difficult. I don't like drawings with holes on the outside😢
How do you stick the Spirograph to the paper?
They're made of ink, so they just sort of stay there.
@@trollop_7 HA
You use the putty that comes with the kit
Brilliant, thank you
