I cut the bathmats up a bit more then glue smaller groups of trees onto the base of a wood. It's more work, but I don't like the regular rows you get if you don't do it.
For maps set nearer to towns it is plausible to have neat rows, managed woods have been a thing for millennia, also good to represent Orchards of fruit bearing trees
I find that what a gentleman uses as a protective paper base is quite the reflection of his character. "Miracle mask 2022" and "Cleansing champion 2022" my particular favourites.
Really looking forward to S&H. Refighting the great formal battles of history has always been a wargaming dream of mine. Seems odd that no one has bothered to come up with a set of rules that makes it a fun challenge rather than a tedious grind.
I tried this, but the mat I got had longer bits of fluff than I thought. Doesn't look anywhere near as good as they don't stand up easily and leave huge gaps showing that material underneath. Mine also had a thick foam base which I missed. Will try again when I can get to Dunelm!
If any Canadians find those bath mats in our chain stores, please let me know! I also have some felt padding for under furniture feet set aside as agricultural fields.
Brilliant! The Lardies are an international treasure
Great stuff Rich, just like Blue Peter. I was struck by how good these trees looked on Charley's board at Vapnartak.
Lol. Yeah. Better than mine!
Very good. Excellent looking results by simple means. Now I need to go to Dunelm.
Fantastic to see you again on video, can't wait to see you and the guys play some games again!
Great tutorial! I think I’m going to use these ideas for Altar of freedom
Genius! I’m clearly not the only one who, when getting dragged around certain shops, is continually wondering what can be used for gaming! Lol
The bath mat forests are the best thing since welcome mat wheat fields in 28mm
Thanks Rich - very useful and informative - got the missus to order 4 mats from Dunelm as I may end up doing the Teutobergwald!

I think Sidney might have given Rich the magazine.
@@dopplebockdunkle No, no. You can see it in the smoothness of his face and his radiating aura of angelic cleanliness - the magazine is Rich's.
Absolutely amazing 👍
Wonderful tutorial, I bought mine in Ikea for make woods for 2mm napoleonics
So good to see you back on the camera Rich as I'm sure Linda is too!
It's been too long! But there's lots more to come over the coming weeks.
Useful tutorial, looking forward to others and the release of S&H. Regards Lexi
Great to see Big Rich back on youtube! its been a while, you have been sorely missed!! great tutorial lookin forward to more👍
Thanks Paul. It’s been far too long. Lock down took its toll I’m afraid, but we are coming out swinging now. Lots to follow.
Well Done, very well done!
Great video Rich. Just the inspiration I needed to get to work on terrain for my micro armour.
Hi Sam. The bath mats are a great way to do tiny terrain. Best of luck with your project.
Nicely done... Not overly complicated, is it, but the results would'nt let you know how easy it is, now would they?

Brilliant idea - thank you. [One day I will actually look round a DIY shop for DIY and not wargaming potential...]
The next Bob Ross (though no phthalo blue or alizarin crimson).
Lol. I'll need to let my hair grow a bit.
Don't forget the Titanium huwhite

Thank you very much!!
Great stuff Rich, looking forward to seeing the game at Hammerhead
See you there Paul
Which bases from Charlie Foxtrot did you use, Rich?
