Stack Pollaidh is a fantastic mountain but can be very dangerous and difficult to climb in winter conditions.Start the stack Pollaidh walk from the bottom road car park. The true summit of Stac Pollaidh is at the western end and is more difficult to reach, and out of bounds for normal walkers. There are a succession of rocky towers requiring climbing or scrambling skills to ascend.Stac Pollaidh as some very tricky sections and the terrain can be difficult. The paths climbs steeply at the start of the walk and the path meanders to the north side of stac Pollaidh before ascending the gully. Loved this video!! Very beautiful and a little eerie when the clouds move in! I love how so many places still have their Gaelic names. Sionasgaig means Synagogue. Mor means Big and Beag means small. The people who laid the stones for the path showed such love for that area. What a unique adventure! Thank you for sharing it!
Im from Canada. My father in law and climbed stac in 2000. It was somthing I never thought to do but was a great experience.
Having done over 170+ munros, the 5 classic ridge walks Cullin, An Teallach, Liathach, Aonach Eagach and the CMD, Stac Poollaidh is my fav mountain. Scrambling to your heart's content in a spectacular setting with wonderful views all around. Also you didn't reach the true summit. At 15.22 drone view. The true summit is on far left and to get to it you have to climb the rock tower at 15.46 next to you on your right. A grade 2/3 scramble ;-) Brill vids BTW
Thankyou I have to agree I didn't make the true summit this time.I made the true summit the time before and it was a little tricky and slippy traversing. I have done 150 munros so I have some catching up to do do on you 👍 I did liathach pinnacles late last year which i hope you enjoy at some point.. Congratulations on all the munros you've done and thanks for commenting and watching ATB ALAN GREGORY
Great viseo mate..the drone shots were sensational.
Thanks Mike 😊 glad you liked the video and thanks for taking the time to watch atb Alan Gregory Adventures
Hi Alan - had a wonderful NW Highlands adventure for 25 nights in a camp site in Altandhu passing this iconic mountain twice every day as I went about my holiday - then after 8 or 9 days I arrived early in the wee car park and set off on an incredible day on a simply stunning wee mountain - taking in all 4 summits and enjoying the scrambling on the way to the top 3 summits - Thank you so much for this video which inspired me to do Stac Pollaidh - A day that will live long in my memory - all the best Alan
What an incredible day Alan on a superb mountain - your footage is stunning ! One firmly added to my "to do" list
Thanks again Bob 👍 yeah stunning and beautiful mountain.. There are so many paths around the summit and can be quite treacherous especially if the mist comes down.
Great views and wonderful mountain
Thanks again for watching and leaving a comment Bob... much appreciated Alan Gregory adventures
I climbed Stac Pollaidh in 1989 (I think) I don't recall the path taking you round the East side and up to the back the of ridge - I'm sure we did a full-on ascent to the bealach, close to the East summit, then progessed to the true summit at the West end. I remember some scrambles round on the North side of the ridge and only one pinnacle had to be climbed to reach the summit. It was a great day out and Hopefully I will do it again soon. Great video - brought back quite a few memories.
Hiya Stephen..That a way u didn't know about, and it sounds fantastic..I must go back and try that way sometime..I'm glad iit brought back some good memories for you and many thanks for commenting and watching the video..atb Alan Gregory adventures

Thanks for the great guide video Alan. I'll be up that way in a couple of months and am hoping for weather as good as you had. Nice breeze and no midges!

Great to see brother
Thanks Very Much Indeed
What a wonderful mountain Alan , and you got some great footage of the beautiful surroundings and not to mobbed but a bit scary on the top atb Dave
Cheers again Dave..its a fantastic half day's hike and i really enjoyed it once the crowd's cleared to film it.
Thanks again for watching Dave
Bye4now Alan Gregory 😀😀😀
Lovely video, showing what a great day you had. I only wish the commentary had pointed out the "true" summit involves a scramble (either up a polished slabby tower, or a chimney down a bit to the left of it)..probably not within most ramblers' reach as it is a bit scary and airy...and, as you say in the replies to comments, not recommended in the wet !
Great video but, it sounded to me like you were misidentifying Ben Mor Coigach as Quinag which, is at the northern end of Assynt.
Yeah sorry about that
Thanks for watching and leaving a comment Thank you Alan gregory Adventures
Nice one Alan, what a start, stunning mate with amazing views. Looks a scramblers delight up there but not to be taken lightly. Sad to read a young lad died up there at the end of August. Fine mountain. Thanks for sharing. Atb. Mick.
Cheers Mick... i saw a helicopter flying later in the DAY i hope that it was just a exercise as it is a very dangerous mountain
Thanks again for watching Mick
Bye for now Alan Gregory

Another excellent video, Alan -- but at 2:58 you say "Great view over to Quinag", I think. But, Quinag is about twenty miles north of Stac Pollaidh, and this is looking south to Ben Mor Coigach, if I am not mistaken. Anyway, thanks once again for posting!
Looking forward to viewing your videos in 4k, when I get a computer and screen capable of handling it!
Thanks Rosa 👍 your right about quinag, I realised the mistake and left in on RUclips 😭😭😭 .glad you enjoyed the video again and hope you enjoy my latest video lurg Mhor /Bidean a'Choire Sheasgaich .thanks once again for watching and commenting bye4now Alan Gregory adventures 😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀😀
P.s I filmed these videos in 4K especially for your new 4K PC/TV
Rosa 👍👍👍🤣🤣🤣
If only. :-)@@alangregoryadventuresthegr992
Wow. an epic opening sequence and I really welcomed the review of the way up before the actual climb. Your videos are all one brillianter than the next, pity on those that haven't discovered your channel. This mountain is not as handsome as Suilven from the valley, but close up it's really craggy and fierce. Also, like Canisp, the views are excellent (and some great drone work there too). Ta much again.
Thanks...👍 stac polliadh is very popular,a crumbling mountain and as it's own unique character.. As you will have seen, there are so many routes around the summit area. I think it could be quite dangerous in the mist & wet weather .. The true summit is technical climb to try and reach. I nearly lost my footing a couple of years earlier..😳
Thanks and very happy you enjoyed the views to canisp/suliven

Brilliant film, loved the intro. Assynt is hard to beat, I'm embarrassed to admit that I haven't done Stac Pollaidh yet. 😳

Was up there a few weeks back for a week living on the island at the back cracking week 👍
Did you I bet you enjoyed that. A beautiful area to wild camp and the views are out of this world. Many thanks for watching and commenting happy New year ATB ALAN GREGORY ADVENTURES
You couldn't ask for a better pit stop Alan. You could gaze out all day but you had a mountain to climb. This one wasn't short of paths on top - and wow what a top. Amazing up there. Great footage Alan - you did this walk proud mate. Good going. All the best. Mark
Thanks Mark i waited 2 hour's before the summit was clear to film, but it was well worth it on this amazing mountain and thanks for watching glad you liked the vid 😀😀😀🕺
BYE4NOW ALAN GREGORY
Good on you for waiting. It was clearly the right thing to do. No pun intended. A pleasure to watch - some good adventures here.
@@WyeExplorer cheers mark much appreciated Cheers 🕺
Thanks for posting the video, looking to climb it this May, is there a way to the trig without scrambling 📷👍
Hiya the only way to the main trig point is a technical scramble...thanks for watching.. ATB ALAN GREGORY...
Brings back memories umpteen years ago my family ran up it, well me and my two kids did, my wife walked it. Trouble started at the carpark, midges, the worst I’ve ever experienced in all my years on the hills. I just kept shouting back at my wife keep climbing the higher you get the less there are; not really true they didn’t depart until we were almost at the top, my wife never got that far. First time I actually saw midges draw blood, when we got back to the car my wife took of her jacket and hood and the blood was everywhere. Felt kind of bad for her but I wanted to bag that hill; truth was it was a wasted hill in the end ( I did a lot of hill running then and my kids 8 and 9 were light and could run easily up the 2000 feet) we ran most of the way up it and didn’t hang about at the top for long and then raced back down. I would like to do it again but I have little cartilage in my knees now so that won’t be happening, could go up no problem but coming back down would be a little trying to say the least.
Hiya..I had the same problem with the midges too until I got higher. Sorry to hear about your knees.
Glad it brought back some good memories ..take care Alan Gregory
@@alangregoryadventuresthegr992 watch your knees it's the going down part that eventually takes its toll; there was no warning, I came down Curved Ridge on the Buachaille one day with no problem, next day I could hardly walk. Took over a month before I could walk a mile and my right knee was the worst, it never straightened again. You pays your money and takes your chances I suppose. Anyway we have people like you making videos, keep up the good work but listen to your knees.
@@Insolation1 Thanks for commenting and watching the video and you're right, take care on the downhills with the knees
Thanks Alan Gregory

Hi Alan. You sure know how to use that drone. I`ll take some tips from watching your videos mate.
Good for you Billy. I've had good times with the drones even when they fly away of their own accord 😭😭 hope you enjoy Foinaven thats my favourite ruclips.net/video/pA-Cb1NbBwg/видео.html
