Gotta start looking at a kit to fix things like that when you're on the road. You were lucky there was a shop nearby. Always carry a tire repair kit and pump along with some basic tools
Carry some Tire Slime in a small tube its enough to get you to a tire shop. You should not ride more then 50 miles on a plug or patch, in fact no tire shops in the USA will plug tires due to liabilities if they do they are taking a huge liablity risk.

Hey Robin-san, I am a biker myself and live in Brazil, where we also get a lot of unpredictable rain. If I can give you some advice: *1)* Always have a moped repair kit on you so you can do small repairs by yourself if you need. Pretty sure you can find it online. *2)* I know it can sometimes ruin the spontaneity of the trip, but it's a good idea to look at the route on gps beforehand and mark on the way rest spots/cafes/gas stations/restaurants in case it rains and you can stop and chill, or in case you go through an area without gps coverage (although I think that's not an issue in Japan). *3)* Have good quality "rain mode" gear in a separate bag that's easy to access, so as soon as it starts raining you can park, open it in seconds and change quickly. Get a tarp for the moped (one made for it, with elastic band around it, sized for your moped). A good hint I could give you would be to use those backpack rain covers to protect your boards. And obviously have foot covers (those plastic bags that go around your shoes), waterproof pants and a waterproof jacket. It can be actually quite fun to drive in the rain if you are not wet and cold! Another tip would be to treat your visor with a waterproof spray so you can see better when it rains. *4)* Have a flexible schedule and flexible expectations. Always. The moped brings more comfort when going around, but it also brings a whole new universe of problems. Especially when it comes to weather, it's something you don't control, and can't control. So stressing about it only makes you frustrated. Be willing to spend one or two days at the same place, if needed, until it's more comfortable to start traveling again. Japan has that advantage of having very cheap and available accommodation around urban centers if you need, so don't feel bad about killing a day or two at an internet cafe if that's gonna make your trip more comfortable later. Wish you the best!
i'am also in a tought spot in life right now, your videos always help me to keep going bro, keep doing what you doing you inspire a lot of people that are also going trought hard times. wish you luck bro.

Robin-san, can you use those XL ziplock bags meant for vacuum-packing up blankets to ziplock your skateboards when they are dry? I suggest after they dry so that the don't warp zipped up in a plastic bag heated by daylight. I would affix the zilpocked boards with the zip side facing the ground to discourage water from pooling inside the bags... this way if the bag get torn or little holes from pebbles ricocheting into them from the road, the bag is more likely to drain moisture than pool poisture inside, right?
I really hope that your channel grows a lot so you can buy a van. Van life in Japan will also be really fun to watch. Stay strong and keep the focus on the goal! 🌻🚐👌

you should look into getting moped/bike umbrella. While it's safer to wait for the rain to finish, it might help in some emergency situations. Especially if it's a short rain.

You should invest in a portable air pump they’re inexpensive and they’re pretty compact these days, also you should look into grabbing a tire repair kit super easy to use a bunch of RUclips videos on how to do it. When I drove my moped to go to college, I always made sure I had extra bearings, everything I just mentioned And a little tool kit. You do have a lot of weight on the moped so you might want to tweak with the pressure of your tires to accommodate it.
you can get a patch kit for cheap. fill the tire and spray around it with soap water. if it bubbles, there's your leak. the patch kit will have a tool and several rubber plugs. highly recommend adding it to your backpack.

i skate in the rain all the time in the rain and my board is fine lol. I have a Landyacht. I've had it for years now. Don't stress it too much brother. Keep your head up.
🌴 So Robin , these are normal problems of travel on the road and camping , yes moped San helps get you around and maybe a cheap transportation, but you you are still open to the elements, next step up would be to have a kei van , so you can travel sleep inside store your gear , you could cook with a small alcohol stove, it might be more economical than staying at Internet cafes 🤔
Keep up your efforts. Especially your ability to showcase local food off the beaten path is very enjoyable. Coke is bad but once in awhile, it is OK. Travel safe and keep posting your videos. I hope you can visit some really isolated areas in Japan. I live in Toronto Canada now but I was born in Miyazaki. Hope you can visit my home city when you travel back through Kyushu.
Problems are part of an adventure. Sure they are frustrating, and the set backs can be heart breaking, but you'll be so happy if you push through them to reap the rewards. Also, get a hammock and a tarp for the rain (Tarp gets strung across the top of the hammock) to save yourself from getting wet. A tarp will also work for your bike, but I'd recommend that you look at some gear to ditch instead of trying to protect stuff you likely don't use. However, if you do need everything, a trailer will likely be better than those storage boxes, so I'd see if that is doable.
this is a journey, not everything will go smoothly my friend. There will be ups, there will be downs, the one constant you have is we support you! Do not give up! Just like your youtube journey, it isnt always easy, but if you put your best effort forward you can do it!!

My friend. Your just getting back on your feet. Your just fearing loosing what you gained. Don't worry, only way you can fail is by stopping what you're doing. March on my Samurai san...
first of all get winter tires for moped san because the regular tires didn't built for this kind of weight and get tire repair kit for it then you need poncho and rain cover, don't forget to have First-aid supplies for caution and never wear shorts on a bike ride and get eyewear for rides if you ride without one most definitely a bug will find a way to your eyes
Stan’s no tubes. Pull the valve core, presuming it’s a schraeder valve, and add exactly 4oz to the tire. Spin it while leaning the bike both sides. Refil each 3 months or when temp changes by 20°f+-
Just keep pushing bro, it’s in your name. No rush, just roll with it. I love spam musubi…. When I was in Japan around this time in the calendar I experienced the same fickle skies. I had to dry out my shoes nightly
Being from a tropical country, I look at the humidity percentage to determine if rain will fall or not. So I try to be prepared. Can you rope your next lock onto the bike/box? So if you forget and it falls it'll still be attached via the rope or string.
You mentioned your things can get wet in the rain - you could get waterproof covers to cover the boxes and bags. If you can't find those items, what about finding a lady who can sew them up for you and advise you on the best fabric to buy to protect your items? Around the edge can be elasticated to fit over the boxes/ bags/ skateboards, etc, or the person could also create little ties so you could also tie them on. I think it maybe wouldn't be to expensive. Or maybe consider a little trailer (see the link I sent you) and that way all your items you could load onto a little trailer and attach a net/ waterprrof cover to keep things dry then remove the boxes maybe.
Awww, dont get stressed, whatever each day brings to you, remember you have 2.5k followers who come here to learn about you and your lifes journey, the great and the not so great , we love your uploads and that you share everything with us, that's what makes us appreciate your videos. Fix a flat tire patch kit nearby? Cheap and quick repair. I would buy a few fix a flat kits, they are only a few dollars each and small so easy to store. So you have one when you need it. Pour some water if you can't find the leak, like the guy at the shop. Follow the directions on the package. I bet it's not even five minutes work

Being from a tropical country, I look at the humidity percentage to determine if rain will fall or not. So I try to be prepared.
Can you rope your next lock onto the bike/box? So if you forget and it falls it'll still be attached via the rope or string.
Okinawa has a crazy weather. Be safe and have fun brother
Despite the rain you still eating good. What’s a little rain ☔️ 😂 cheering for you.
Rainy season in Okinawa is no joke! Keep your head up Bro!
