- How to Change Taskbar Size in Windows 11
Some people wanted to make the taskbar smaller on Windows 11, there is a registry tweak which helps solve this problem. But when Microsoft release the official version, I am sure there will be more features added to Windows 11 to fix these minor Windows 11 problem.
Go to HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced
create DWORD 32bit value and call it "TaskbarSi"
Set value to 1, 2 or 3

Wow this is great thank you so much for posting this. I was going nuts. Microsoft needs to bring back a lot of features they took back from windows 10 I don't understand why make it more complicated on w11.
I'm happy that the launch event is today! 🙂

From what i red, this feature is not possible to do anymore, just like this video shows, and it does not seems that they will let us do it any time soon.
Hello brother can you please add video about taskbar icon spacing ?as my icons have a lot of space after a new update in windows 11
The icons look like wasted space - oh, it was supposed to be _fresh_ , and _airy_ and _lite_ . No problem, I'll just get a 40 inch monitor ¡
Great video man! Loved it! Absolutely understood in the first go. Keep it up..! Thank you for making this video.!
Thank you!! This helped me out the taskbar was rlly annoying.
This method doesn't work anymore, after some stupid updated they removed this possibility along with the "Small Icons"

I'm using two monitors and when I tried this my date and some icons are off the screen. The second monitor has a normal sized bar and seems to be preventing the main screen from aligning ...any ideas?
I am having troubles because the the right side icons are off screen, is there a way to make it 0.5 instead of 0?
A fine tutorial, to customize windows taskbar in win11.
Thanks
Love your videos bro Windows 11 already out and you have a fix awesome 🔥👍
when i do this, the wifi button, time, and volmue things get cut off
It works. But the icons on the right are not resized and look too large. What I can do?
What resolution are you using because mine is 2560x1440 the task bar looks bad and the sound icon on the right is showing just half of it
How can they release an OS to enthusiastic dev users (dev program!) with basic functionality like this lacking that's been in there since at least XP? I wonder how much more basic functionality that everyone takes for granted from windows 7/8/10 will be missing on launch.
Worked thanks and I only needed to sign out rather restart the system!
i have 2 questions: First: I have a dual monitor setup and it only fixes the taskbar of the main monitor, so the taskbar on the other monitor is noticably bigger. Second: The date is bugged, so i can only see the half of the date at the taskbar. How can i fix these problems?
another great tutorial
Thank you! Cheers!
The icons became smaller but the icon spacing is the same with previous size and the time and date, wifi, sound and battery is still the same and is not properly aligned. Is there another method? Thanks
Hi, I had done this and it worked perfectly, but I think my PC updated last night and it no longer works. Could you upload an updated process?
Is there a way to remove the gap above and below the icons in the Taskbar so it's like Windows 10?
I have installed the latest update and the taskbar has gone back to being large and ungainly! I have looked in the registry editor and the TaskbarSi I created using this video is still there but it no longer works. I have tried deleting the TaskbarSi and redoing it but nothing happens. I am really just exasperated with how bad this version of windows is how little you can do to change things. Any advice? Tank you
Is it possible to move the taskbar itself to the side without it glitching? I dislike its bottom position.
Hello I was just messing around with this and you don't have to restart you PC all you have to do is go to task manager and restart the windows explorer processor. works 100% of the time and makes it much faster to get the size you want
I simply logged out of my user account.

any way to move that pesky taskbar to the right side and stand up?

works.. sort of.. not really.. the bottom half of the toggles/date are cropped so no good.. assume i can just delete the folder once ive reverted back to default ? thanks
I followed the steps exactly as described, but after setting TaskbarSi to a 0 for smaller taskbar icons, there is no change. Rebooted, but no change in size. Went back in and looked at TaskbarSi and it's set correctly to 0. Any ideas why the taskbar icons are not changing size?
microsoft "fixed" the error, you can't do it anymore
@@xorgfx Aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaargh. I swear the live to troll their users. My older TV cuts off the top and bottom of the screen so I need it larger just so I can see the top half. On 8.1 I could resize my vid card resolution but not so with this new one. I guess I'll just pay hundreds for a new TV?
Maybe a worthy topic would be the system requirements needed to install Windows 11, The compatibility checker says my machine isn't compatible and this would most likely be because I didn't have safe boot enabled and TPM 2.0 I can't just change that now because it won't boot up then.
THANK YOU because it was so dang big it covered my art program and I couldn't pick what I wanted and it was so annoying so THANK YOU
it can not work on my right side icons (date, time wifi icon etc )

Works on principal (Main) monitor but in the others extended monitors only the icons chance the size... the task bar get the same
what about changing the task buttons size back like win 10?
thank you, it helped me👍but but the date on the right didn't fit and it's basically cut off the screen
is there a way to fix that?
Hey I found an application called S"tart11 application" look it up it helps customise start menu without the cut off, search for a tutorial on youtube
Oh, oh, can you do a window snapping test? is it possible to snap to more than 2x2? - i got a 32:9 monitor so 2x2 snapping is too little for me.
Well, windows 11 just released and the taskbar resize isn't there... and if you resize it the notification area glitches...

thanks man it was really helpful.
Thanks, it worked, hopefully, MS adds this feature. The only problem when I add '0' as value, the first 'icons' being date/time, internet, etc., on the far bottom right, aren't aligned properly, they're a bit downward. So I had to keep the value to '1' for better alignment.
I noticed when you're having a value '1' your taskbar day/time show also the day, while mine doesn't and when you're switching to value '0' , the day/time and internet icon are centred horizontally, but mine keep showing a bit downwards, not perfectly aligned, even after I installed the latest 15 February 2022 update KB5010414.

Thanks very much for this video. It lets me know that the way I like to manipulate my taskbar is gone. I use multiple displays and keep the taskbar in a different location on each one - came looking for how to personalize the taskbar again and all I’m finding is this size option requiring edits in the registry… how bleak and boring. But I gather we who used it that way we’re viewed by the company as a small bunch not worth the (apparently large) effort to include the old and long accustomed (decades, here … decades of OSs… and loving this) option. Now just imagine what people with life-threatening changes feel like when THEY get marginalized.
Yeah, right. They managed to arrange that this is not working after last 2 features updates. I hate those designers so much I cannot even describe.
the date is partially off screen
same man, if you got a fix for that please reply to this
Hi mate followed the steps, nothing changed? still shows up in regedit
what i only need is to adjust the taskbar height a little, so the date is not half hidden under the time. but this procedure adjusts the taskbar height and make the app icons bigger at the same time. guess there is really no way to fix this half hidden date in a normal taskbar size setting.
if we remove the TaskbarSi, then the taskbar size will go back to default right? do we know if they will put back the taskbar resize in settings? it's quite weird to be resizing from registry editor. thanks for the tutorial! i just updated to Windows 11 on my personal laptop and am now playing around with things haha
You can just change the TaskbarSi value to 1, and it will be at the same size as when you installed the windows. Tbh. In my case i didn't even have to add that to the registry, because it was already there. I just changed the value.
Thank you so much for the video!

Why does the time and some text in down right looks like it sink to the screen after doing it?
I want to ask why the time and wifi icons on the bottom right are too low so they don't fit the taskbar?
when I have something on the screen and want o go back to the desktop I have to click on the bottom right hand side. The square is too little and the taskbar is covered most of that makes it easy to miss when clicked on. Anybody know how to make that square bigger?
