My woman had some vacation time to burn up, so we drove down the coastal hwy from Portland and visited the redwoods, trees of mystery and rented a room for a couple of days at Patrick creek lodge on the highway going into grants pass from Cresent city California. What an interesting experience driving through a stand of those massive trees! If those bad boys don't get your blood running then nothing will! The fog bank that rolls through those trees are nothing short of incredible! They drink a quarter of a ton of water out of the fog that rolls in off the ocean every day. You just have to be there to understand how they got so big and old. I highly recommend a visit to that area if you ever get a chance as I'm sure you will second that journey? I'm sure you have been through where I'm talking about a time or two huh Leon? 😋

Yeah those pioneer saws are pretty neat i picked up a p40 i think that runs nice, solid saw, I wasn't shopping for one the guy offered it to me after buying his homelite super XL 950, yeah I just bought a saw from a guy in southern oregon a homelite 1050 and he showed me a picture of his yard covered in snow.
I still kick myself in the butt.... probably 15 years ago, a long running saw shop went out of business, and they were setting up to sell everything as a garage sale. As I was buying some items, an auctioneer showed up and told them to stop selling, that he would auction everything. Well, I spent some good money at the auction, but I wish I would have bought more of their new Homelite parts inventory.
I am trying to salvage an old Montgomery Wards chainsaw. 1980s, it says the gas oil ratio is 16 to 1, which is 8 oz of 2-cycle oil to 1gal of gas. Do I have to follow those guidelines? Or can I run it on 40:1?

I'm in Vermont. We had a great stretch of spring like weather and tonight's forecast is 6-14" and high winds. I know how you feel.

It was around 48* and nothing but rain here in eastern central Ohio. Supposed to be mid 30s on Sunday. Stay dry, stay warm.
