word of encouragement to ya, a saw that prone to failure is not worth having in your collection. Some things are just flat out of reach, treat yourself to the luxury of walking away from it.

Thank you so much for the non monetization. Love the fact i can watch a vid without those incredibly intrusive ads. Very generous of you! Keeps me watching even vids i have nothing related to, always learn something. MUCH APPRECIATED!

Don't feel bad Leon, I am in the same boat as you. I have a pile of those turd saws that I paid a fortune for. I would have been better off buying an axe.

Worked on a few of those back in '80s & '90s. They had a real problem with the cooling system especially in the winter. The ignition was short lived as well & the buffer system was expensive as hell. If I remember a complete set was $100 back then. Those were 2 30cc saws back to back & when Echo decided to drop it, they converted to a mister. 1 cylinder was the pump & those didn't go over well either. Believe I still have a manual for both of those.

Not sure who made the ignition systems for those saws but just about every electronic equipped Echo saw in the late '70s/early '80s would fail at some point.

It starts to resemble the EVL boat anchor is a tempting thought.

Had one of those. Ran like a top clean as could be. Sold it and while it was a cool collectors piece I knew if I held onto it for too long something would fail on it .

Im sorry my friend Leon. Ive got a couple that ran really well for a long time. But then craps set it. Im no genius. I have repaired many old fleamarket saws. But these became huge turds so to speak. Fortunately l had very little in them. Thanks for all your help in my many repairs.

I was given a 750 EVL the other day without spark. I think it’s just going to sit on the shelf. It’s too bad these ignitions are so hard to find and no aftermarket options.

Been there, 1975 I bought a new homelite xl12 it would start and run great shut it off to pile brush and fill up gas and bar oil. Ha wouldn't fire a lick took it back to the dealer, always a dead coil it done this all the time. So I had an old c51 homelite continued cutting wood with that until 1977, traded them in on a new 041 stihl farm boss, and never looked back.

Don't feel like the lone ranger brother! I finally got my hands on a pullstarter assembly for my Jonsered 80 and that bastard has eluded me for the last three days days and found that one of its issues was the screw holding the pully was just a smidgen to tall. This caused it to not retract the rope after pulling it one time and the rope would stay out! And all the pieces are new out of the box, and I'm surprised you couldn't hear me cussing and talking to myself all the way down on the other end of the state from Portland where I reside these days! And about the time I was going to replace the pullstarter cover I see a puddle of gas forming under the saw and dripping off the bottom of the flywheel fins! So I know how ya feel brother.

IT IS ALIVE and then dead, DAMN. custom chainsaw parts cuts the connectors off on a lot of electric connectors and oil lines in order for a quicker tear down is what they say. Sarcasm is coming through fine.

Put it away till 1 when you have a couple of Valiums. I have no doubt that you can an will fix this 1 day. You showed me restraint than l would've. Sledgehammer time an regret my actions later.
