Vitali Klitschko very underrated one of the best of all time
I remember this fight. Klitschko showed so much heart and was whooping on Lewis. Real respect.
It was a very exciting fight with a sad end but that s the way it goes sometimes.
Klitschko had him, was ready to finish him any second.
Watched this fight live.Vitaly Klitschko was decisively beating Lennox Lewis.
Until Lennox stopped him halfway through the fight. Dummy.
Without a doubt. I saw it too. And I was angry as hell when they stopped it and granted it to Lewis. In a stoppage like that they should go to the score cards. The rules need to be changed for situations like this. Because Lewis wouldn't have even made it through the next round had they let the fight go.
@@imonahorseLenox didn't stop him. He gouged his gloves into Vitali's eye and then kept rubbing that mop that he calls hair over the cut every time they locked up.... Notvreally one cut 😅
Lewis made that cut and if the referee didn’t stopped the fight Vitaly could probably loose his vision for good . Six more rounds was to go, no way he would have last , the ref did him a big favor and saved his career and his life.
This is a weak take, Lennox Lewis beat every single opponent he has ever faced, straight up or through rematch. Ali can't even say that.
He was the greatest of his time, and one of the all time greats.
End of discussion.
Margarito's eyes were far worse in his fight with Pacquiao than Klitschko's but the officials still let them fight 'til the last round. That should've happened also in this fight.
His face was falling off. I saw this live. Look up,how many stitches it to9k. Like 120 for 3 or 4 cuts, ,including the inside of,his mouth and lip was hanging off. Thats boxing
The difference was Margheritos eye was fractured the ring doctor can’t see that can only see swelling. Klitchskos eye straight up cutted
Lennox was always a smart guy, that' s why he's a legend
I remember that fight. Klisko was a game opponent and fought hard. Lennox felt he no longer had that smoke for the rematch and made a business decision to retire. 🤔🫡

In boxing, just as in other sports, the older you get, the lower you perform. Its always wise to retire before people start preying on you. I respect Lennox for retiring
That was one of the best fights ever!
Truth is, Lennox Lewis ran away from Klitschko.
Lewis had said this was his last fight he was considering retiring before the fight. If the fight went on vitali would have bled to death those were some of the worst cuts I've seen so I don't think there was anything controversial about the stoppage.
It was extremely controversial. Bayonne Bleeder used to soak up other fighter's gloves with his blood. Fighters aren't normal people. They are gluttons for punishment. Klitchko wanted to keep fighting, it's his eye.

Vitali effectively quit in this fight. Due to it being a title match, he was allowed to fight on with what was clearly fight-ending injury. He had to push for the KO, but instead started losing more rounds. He was very uncomfortable in there.
What the heck are you talking about, how did Vitali quit if the ref stopped the fight? He was ahead on the score cards it was a tough fight for both men. If you don't know anything about boxing don't comment stupid rubbish
@@ashleydavis7448 If you know anything about boxing then you'll know (as Vitali and his corner must have done) that the fight was going to be stopped due to his injuries - no doubt about it. In such circumstances, the onus would be on Vit to up his game and try to force a stoppage, but instead he started losing rounds. He allowed the fight to be stopped without showing any real sign of urgency - he coasted; he effectively quit.
Got it?
Him jumping up in fake surprise and disgust after the inevitable had happened doesn't change that.
@Zoroaster1996 that is the stupidest thing I ever heard in my life, you do know Lewis is one of the greatest of all time if not the greatest ever heavyweight? To say he was losing some rounds because of the injury instead of noting how good Lennox Lewis actually is is insane. You clearly know nothing about boxing. No matter he might of have some rounds away it doesn't mean he could not come back. Did you ever think that maybe the blood in he's eyes was the cause he might of been getting caught out?
He pushed for a rematch which Lewis but Lewis refused and chose to retire. Just because you lose a round or 2 doesn't mean that person is quitting, Oliver MacCall quitted against Lewis there is a big difference.
Lennox with smart to retire, because Klitschko would eat him alive, that cuts saved his ass.

Yeah, those c tire status changes can be rough.
At the end there were too many questions, even foreman said it neeeds to happen the rematch.
Too many questions… like can a 38 year old boxer at the end of their career just perpetually beat new challengers forever? What questions? Would Vitali have won the rematch? Yeah probably.
So Lewis intelligently retired to save taking pointless damage, shortening his life span and diminishing his quality of life. It’s not a fkn blood sport.

Same. I still have the newspaper article. It’s like a couple years back but not fucking 20 years lol
That cut over Vitali’s left eye is one of the nastiest I’ve ever seen to this day. And he fought multiple rounds with that gash! I think Lewis caught Klitschko with the seam of his glove or something.
There were some headbutts in close. Neither were used to fighting a guy their height and clashed heads a few times.
Forearm on the break opened that up.
There were a few headbutts throughout the match too
Lewis is overrated. He was not as great as people say. He just used his size to beat smaller fighters most of the time. Vitali exposed him. When Lewis finally met someone bigger he got battered.
