In Home Depot's hardware section they have Everbilt 3 1/2" double wide mending plates that work perfect. Holes predrilled on the side that don't interfere with any plastic support underneath. All you have to do is drill a 7/16" hole for the shaft.
I didn't know which one of your videos to post this question on, so I hope it's OK I post it here. I've recently modified all 4 of our Power Wheels ride ons from 12v to 18v (thinking 18v would save the motor life a little longer than going 24v...also because it's easier to fit a 2nd 6v battery on most of these than 2 12v's). However, one of our Power Wheels vehicle won't take the battery tampering: It's the Boomerang. After doing all the wire modifications I noticed that once I made the final battery connection there was a tiny spark (none of the other 3 ride ons did that). I had my daughter get in the driver's seat...and it started driving (fast) for about 2 seconds, then shut down. The Boomerang has a battery light meter under the gear shift which only has 3 colors (green, orange and red) to show how much charge the battery has. But when connecting the 18v in-series batteries...and after about 5 seconds of being connected, the light turns from green to purple (a new color!). I tried multiple times, always with the same result. If I had my daughter step on the gas pedal quickly right after I made the final battery connection, we'd get about 3 seconds of (fast) ride time until it shuts down. I'm thinking this newer Boomerang must have some "smart" sensor that detects the motor is getting more than 12v of power. So, I'm looking for a way to disable this sensor, or whatever is causing the car to not accept the 18v battery setup. Any ideas? And I might as well include that today our ATV style ride on (recently modified to 18v) seems to have had one of the rear motors go out. I got this ride on used a couple months ago, it's a few years old. As we pulled into the driveway from a long 2 mile ride (with all 3 ride ons) I noticed it was making a different sound and upon looking closer I noticed that only one of the rear wheels was turning. I lifted the back up and tried turning the 2 back wheels with my hands, only 1 of them had any tension, the other one didn't have any tension and just freely turned. I have no idea what this means, but I'm guessing there must be 2 motors, 1 for each of the back wheels?--and maybe one of them blew? Do you know if these are easily replaced? FWIW, this ATV style ride one modified to 18v went a tiny bit faster than our Barbie Jeep and Dune Racer (also modified to 18v). Thank you.
Hey there- wondering if you had any spare front ends available for sale with this fix? I have a project going and cannot find a replacement. I totally rebuilt a garbage jeep with pneumatic wheels, painted in a Jurassic park theme...you should see it. The last piece is to solve the front end it has the big crack where the steering goes through and each wheel sags considerably.
Have you ever added a basic, lightweight metal frame? I want to sit on mine and be able to mount a bumber, the roll bar, new gearboxes, ect to something more sunstantial than 25 yr old plastic
Nice work- any quick fixes for front wheel sag for the Peg Perego RZR 900? Upgraded to 4 rubber tires and have noticed now the front right wheel is toe in now. Any help would be greatly appreciated!
@@CustomKidzCars This will work on newer F150? (12 volt 2 seater 7R Gear Boxes? My son's front is horribly bent and I'm wondering if this would be the same fix if I took it apart
My son has a Jeep like this but his steering wheel raises up and down. There is a push nut on the bottom of the steering shaft. The other power wheel dune racer we have has a threaded nut there.im not quit sure what to do? Any ideas what be greatly appreciated.
Thanks for the quick reply. I lost the push nut I took it off and attempted to put washers on the shaft then put the nut back on but it went flying in the grass when I hit with hammer and it's not same size push nut as the wheels use it's smaller. I'm gonna go to Lowe's later and get new nut or one of those shaft collars. Do I need to thread the steering shaft to use the collar?
Is there any way to change the steering to something a little.... Better? Are there any products available? I have had no luck finding anything to make them handle better
Peg perego gaucho has rack and pinion steering. This model is made very cheap so it is what it is. If u want tracking u could add traction bands or use the foam tread upgrade, we made a video of the process.
Gotcha. I just recently got into modding power wheels(2 jeeps and a kfx). I googled how to lign them up and used bike tires for kfx rear. Any tips on what to do or not to do?
Both jeeps running 18v no traction bands. One of them I have 7 batteries on with 18v. Sorry to bombard you with questions but is there any motors or steel gear kits you would recommend without paying too much?

Not yet but really want to do something like that soon.
Congratulations for tonight you guys did excellent at Thunderbird Raceway
Thank you very much. It was a great night of racing. Super happy to see H and M team mate Xjr take the feature win too. Ella was very focused.

Sorry don't have a diy for that model. Don't see that one in the shop much. Next time I get one I will check it out.
Would it work the same for the f150?
Yes

U can swap out the push nut for a 7/16 shaft collar or slide the push nut further up till the slop is gone

No, it's a ring with a set screw
@@CustomKidzCars ok now I remember watching you use one on another one of your videos! Should major hardware store carry those you think?
@@alexbekkala1718 yes, u will need a 3/8 collar
what about sag in on the back wheels? what size axel is it? I can't find any "replacement parts" on any website. It's only a single motor btw.
Would think rear sag is a bend axle

How about the power Wheels ATV Hunter style when you turn the steering wheel right the wheels go left how do you fix that
Sounds like your steering linkage is installed backwards
Can you sell me these little metal pieces for my Barbie Jeep lol I will pay for shipping! I don’t know how to make this!
Jolie Jaid yeah seriously! Sell these :)
All you have to do is drill one 7/16" hole for the shaft.
Engineering flaw ? No just cheap
For sure, pretty sure it's designed to have toe out so u have to keep buying wheels, lol
