It is acceptable not to have rice when drinking with friends. Normally, beer and a greasy crispy dish completes the drinking experience.
Thanks for letting us know!
@@TheTripsThis is true. Rice is most often eaten when you're having a full meal. It's acceptable not to have it when you're only snacking on something.
One observation with San Miguel beer is that we like that beer as cold as possible before it starts growing ice crystals.
It tastes sweeter and less bitter when it is ice cold. It tends to make people drunk faster because they can drink it faster.
Thanks for the info!
You guys have to try SISIG at some point. It's the perfect beer companion, but also ironically referred to as the perfect hangover cure.
The perfect hangover cure is "papaitan".
@@linoarquiza5433They'd have to have a special appetite for that one. I love papaitan because I can handle the "pait"🤣
now find red horse! and pair it with sisig!
We are on the hunt! 😊
@@TheTrips if you go near Yorkdale mall (by Wilson/Dufferin) there is a Beer Store (Billy bishop Way, in a plaza with jollibee) that always stock red horse beer in can. If you go further east towards Bathurst and Wilson, there are lots of Filipino restaurants there (even resto bars that serve beer and pulutan), especially now the weather is nice you can smell barbecue on the street. If you go to Mississauga, you can try with Seafood City (in Heartland), they have beer there too. Hope that helps☺️
Thanks for the info!!
As an Iranian I agree that RICE IS LIFE :)
San Miguel is enjoyed by everyone in the Philippines! It's solid, inoffensive, refreshing, and quaffable.
not everyone
Most Filipinos use the edge of the spoon (preferably a metal spoon) to cut food into smaller chunks. This means that knives are not always needed.
Try looking for Bistek (beefsteak) Filipino or Bistek Tagalog with lots of cooked and raw onion rings.
How to use the fork & spoon. It's just like the pull & push. Take the spoon & pull the rice towards you & use the back of the fork to push the rice towards the spoon. That's how we use the fork & spoon.
San Miguel has many variants of beer: Super dry, Cerveza Negra, San Mig Lite and Pale Pilsen.
Yay another awesome video :)
Filipino food is cooked to make it tender so the spoon can cut it
I really enjoy watching you guys! love love love!
Thanks so much!! 😀
Try opening beer bottle with spoon or fork, or bottle crown of unopened bottle like we do here in the Philippines, you’ll be amazed with the popping sound.
During drinking session, filipinos combine drinks and food we call pulutan. Most pulutans are meat, fish or nuts but never with rice. Seldom we include vegies or rice. Only during regular meal time. Also these pulutans have variety of dips or sauces like vinegar, soy sauce, gravy, mayo or pickled vegies.
Pulutan = Beer Buddy
Great combo! Great review!!!
Glad you enjoyed it
Uhm.. when drinking beer, the food paired with it should not be consumed with rice. We call that "PULUTAN" (POO-LOO-TUHN).. beer also goes well when paired with sisig, dynamite (chili springs rolls) and calamari, lechon kawali or chicharon. When drunk, just eat balut or sinigang or nilagang baka.. Hahaha.. san miguel pale pilsen is my fave booze.. you can try redhorse, too.
I found out by watching RUclipsrs try San Miguel beers, they prefer or love the "Cerveza Negra," San Miguel's dark lager.
Masarap Eh! Also Sisig with San Mig,.. perfect!
The food looks delicious :) The beer sounds delicious :)
Good to have it while watching superbowl
You can have crispy parta w/o the rice if you're having it with beer, crispy pata w/ beer serves as "pulutan"
o geez! you guys are so fun to watch! hahaha!
The sauce I make it by mixing Soy Sauce and White Vinegar 1:2 ratio, add a minced onion and minced garlic (i love a lot of onion in mine) and a chopped bird's eye chili which is optional. Go nuts! Anything fried goes with it.
Thanks for watching Lia!
@@TheTrips I have lots of cousins in Vancouver. I know you have a big Filipino community there. Enjoy our culture and cuisine!
Thank you guys for the nice reaction of San Miguel beer. Please try the famous Filipino pork dish called HUMBA or Humok na Baboy. It means Tenderized Pork Marinade, somewhat similar to famous ADOBO. You will surely love it. Keep safe and healthy always. Sending love and hugs from the Philippines 🇵🇭 ❤
San miguel pale pilsen is the stable but everybody loves the other popular beer, the RED HORSE! Hope you find it
Im dying for yall to try Iranian / Persian food :) LOL
It’s on the list. We will try some 😀
Dipping the rice in the sauce, and using your hands is very Filipino🙂 Thanks guys god appreciating Filipino beer and crispy pata. But you need to try and ride the Red Horse Beer. Enjoyed watching you guys eat!
We are definitely going to see if we can find Red Horse beer!
yeah.. redhorse beer "ito ang tama!" haha
Hahahahaha guys there's no need to eat rice with beer! eat rice if it's a meal like if you're having lunch but if it's just drinking then there's no need for you to eat rice. Good combination by the way. Crispy pata or anything fried and greasy is good with alcohol.
Ill try to catch yall Every Saturday from now on :)
I watched this while eating oatmeal because I am on a diet. 😭😭😭
Kelly, Steve, Eric y'all are awesome, love you family, I will always have your back
Cheers John!
Much ♥️ to 🇨🇦 from California
❤️❤️ thanks for watching!
Wow that is so good ❤️
Looks like Eric only searched and searched and searched in Quebec. So far so good. Sounds tasty. I'm partial to pale ale's so right up my alley. Y'all shush with that bad mouthing swine talk. My pork roasts and chops are top tier! Calm down there Kelly Gunvalson - WOOHOO!
He got confused by the French street signs 😂😂
Actually Steve, you were right with being on on a Saturday... well, you are for me ;-) You should have told me you were looking for that beer, it's in my local supermarket. Still liked the look of the food
I love all of you guys more bless to your channel
Thank you so much!
Sisig, crispy pata, bbq on stick and lumpiang shqnghai could be paired with beer.
U guys are now filipino.u doing the right thing.
Thanks so much for watching Ariel!
Its best when its chilled
Thanks for the tip!
Another good pair with San Miguel is "Sisig". It is not just a "pulutan". It could also be a meal. Do the the original pork sisig (not fish). Enjoy! "Tagay hanggang mamatay!"
Thanks for watching!
The spoon is the knife the fork is to pit the dish
I miss drinking beer.,i think for me 6 to 10 bottles of San Miguel Beer.,i can call it a happy night. I don't care if i dont get any happy ending with someone. Hahahaha im happy already with 10 bottles of beer 😅🤣
You guys are funny! Keep it up and let's reach the 100k subs mark!
Beer also good on Fish Kinilaw and Goat Kaldereta. Then once drinking is done and get little tipsy, sip a hot soup of Papaitan then you can go for round 2 of beers!! Hope you can find Red Horse beer too
I love that brand of beer
Beer and meat, it doesn't get much better than that!!
Ice cold san miguel beer pale pils n is the best! You will love it if it's ice cold. It taste sweet if it's too cold!
Hopefully we can get it in Canada!
Spoon on dominant hand, we don't use knives for eating ... We use those for weapon
Try the different san miguel beers (san mig light, cerveza negra, san mig dry, etc.) Also red horse beer....
hi guys can you make a review of "Nana Rosa Chichacorn" or "7D Dried Mango" 😁 btw you also need beer with Chichacorn.
Nice combination except for the rice, the one you eat is a pulutan when you partner it with a beer.....thank you guys for promoting our local beer and foods...
Thanks for watching Andrew!
I'm a responsible adult - when something goes wrong, I'm usual responsible.
Not sure if you've done it.
Try classic Lechon baboy (not the Cebu lechon belly) if they make it there. (Hopefully not the small pig, the bigger the pig, the better)
Beer is the best with the best partner which is SISIG!!!!! PLS TRY NOW 🤣🤣🤣🤣
It may seem a little strange. When we drink with our neighbors, we pass one shot-glass around in a communal like fashion. I think it's a way of demonstrating our trust in each other. Neighbours become family as many reside in the same home their entire life. When someone passes in the neighborhood, we don't mourn, we literally have a block party to celebrate their life by feasting and drinking for 2-3 days straight.
That sounds like a beautiful tradition ❤️
For Kelly the San Mig Light will match her
try the redhorse beer too with sisig . . . thanks . . .
Foods that work with beer:
Sisig
Chicharon
Crispy Pata
Liempo (kind of like pork chop)
Lechon Kawali (pork belly made really crispy)
Lechon (though that'd be hard to find so lechon kawali may be best since you can cook it yourself)
Whole lot more, but this are staples.
Food after drinking:
Sinigang (sour pork stew)
Bulalo (bone marrow stew)
Lugaw (rice porridge), may work, so long as you're not full.
Mami (noodles)
Pares (beef cut in small pieces in beef/pork stew)
Awesome, thanks for all the info!
Now that makes me craved 🥰🍻

good food good beer and good friends = good life
For me every time I plan to drink I tend to eat the main course like for example crispy pata and I don't tend to eat rice.
Cheers ..... 🍻and wooohhhh!!!!
Cheers! 🍻
One thing that Filipinos do is to open a bottle of beer with another capped beer bottle. You'll have to ask or see how it's done and then practice doing it.
Try Kora's Filipino Donut on NYC
you might also try crispy pata with local beers in your place
Madam in how you used your pork and spoon is different on how we use it.
Thanks for letting us know!
Next time pls try redhorse beer and sisig for pulutan..cheers

I’m actually canadian myself, if you’re from the TO the smaller filipino stores might have it. Just saw your Seafood city video, they will have it there occasionally.
