- Today I let my whole American family try the best and strongest Filipino alcohols for the first time, including San Miguel Pale Pilsen, Red Horse Beer (extra-strong!), Ginebra gin (Ginebra San Miguel), Tanduay Gold Asian Rum, and Don Papa 10-Year Old Rum. We basically tried ALL the Filipino alcohols! This was their first time trying Filipino alcohol, and it was super cool to get their reactions to these crazy spirits!

Grandma knows her stuff! We Filipinos don't usually drink Gin on its own, we always mix it with something first, for example C2, Pineapple Juice, Sodas, and of course any type of citrus fruits like Lemon and Calamansi. We also light up the bottle on fire, search on the internet on how to do it, it's very fun to do and it also makes the Gin less strong, cause some of the alcohol will burn out.
As a filipino, i drink gin with calamansi then use water as chaser.

Ginebra gin in itself taste like actually rubbing alcohol but I recommend the juniper berries one I use it to make cocktails it has a great berry scent and a floral aftertaste perfect for gin and tonic!

for me, you can drink all the beverages and it taste like you can bear it even if it is your first time drinking it, but nothing beats Tanduay Rhum, its so strong and challenging. 😅

There's a lot. Of mix for Genebra Gin. Like fir example: 3 bottle of Pale pilsen Beer in same 1 bottle of gin, or mix with kalamansi or lemon, or some mix with sachet of Pomelo, orange, & more, then pour to ice crush in a glass.

You need a chaser for the San Miguel Gin.. 7up or Sprite.. lime also is good. Originally 7up and sprite is the chaser that goes with it.
Having retired to the Philippines nearly 10 years ago I have indulged in all of those and some. The gin is horrible unless as someone mentioned mixing some calamansi which is similar to lemon/lime makes it drinkable, beware it causes horrific hangover. Regular Tanduay is good with Coke or Dr. Pepper again will cause tremendous hangover. I keep Don in stock at the house, I like it neat or mixed. Red Horse is excellent and my go to which is also always available in the house. San Mig Pilsner is good but not to my taste preference. A couple that needs mentioning that you missed is San Mig Light which is quite refreshing and is the wife's go and San Mig Negro which is the dark beer, it's ok in small amounts but not for me. I've tried all the whiskey and brandy that is distilled here and I don't like any of it except in emergency, but taste is subjective and a lot of people and I mean a lot drink it. Nice job with the video. As for whiskey I break the bank and pay import prices and get what I prefer.
I just realized that, Filipinos drink alcohol not for the taste but for the kick.
Good-tasting local alcohol is hard to come by.

Gin Calamansi is one of the popular flavored booze here in the Philippines. We squeeze the calamansi and put the juice straight to the bottle and drink it. (most of the time we include the calamansi peel, we also put it into the bottle).
