I took my OP-1 Field and Sony ZV-E10 to South America!

- All music done with the Teenage Engineering OP-1 Field. I put the vocals put through the CM-15 on the trip. The narration was done the same way at home when I got back.
I took a Trip to Argentina and took my OP1-Field and my trusty Sony ZV-E10. If you’re new to filming and cinematography, this camera is incredible. I'm pretty new to the camera side of things and the quality of the footage I got with the ZV-E10 completely exceeded my expectations. I feel like I'm getting better. And of course, there's nothing like being in a beautiful place with an OP-1 Field. There's was no end to the inspiration.
The bass sample I use in this song is in a free sample pack on my website. It's a sample of my Precision Bass and it's all yours if you like it. There are a few more bonus samples I made in that pack as well. IT'S FREE!
I think the choir sample was taken from OP1.fun and it's part of a Mellotron set which you should be able to find by searching "mellotron". I'm so stoked on it because it's so grand and huge with a little bit of reverb.
The drums are from @SONWU Dojo Drum Sample Pack. They've been living on my OP-1 Field for a few months now and I love them. I pulled a few cymbals from other kits, but all of the flams and rolls are from a specific loop in Dojo Drums.

I read the title and was expecting to see you playing the op-1 on the ground in the hiking backpack section of a local Patagonia store while customers gave you the side eye. This is cool too.

I’m always impressed by the quality of shots you get with the zv-e dude. I mean they look commercial/professional short film quality. I always feel my x-t4 is inadequate, but it really isn’t the gear, it’s the cinematographer.
Thanks man! It's becoming more and more difficult to tell what I like better, writing music or shooting videos. The ZV-E10 has gone into retirement though. The A7Cii is the new kid in town :)
@@NovakTheEnjoyer I hear you man. It was easier when I was younger to shoot more narrative/creative stuff, everything now is for corporate or small businesses. I keep thinking of making videos/music videos for my music, but life man. Having a 7 year old and 5 year old, life gets busy!

Love it man. I'm currently doing a bit of traveling and working on a documentary score (un-related to travel.)
I brought the OP-1 with me and I'm thinking I'm going to write the whole score this way! I picked up a cheap little parlor that just sounds wonderfully snappy and can be made to sound full if you play it right. For background music, I really want it out of the way anyways, and it sounds really great palm muted.
I do wish I could recorded full fidelity longer than 6 minutes, but you gotta accept some downsides.

To do a doc score solely on the OP1 is a rough proposition, but I guess it would depend on the type of film and type of music. I assume you’re going into a Laptop and DAW. Since there are next to no editing functions on the OP1, I would imagine that any adjustments might be hard to handle, lol.

I’m so stoked it inspired you! I brought my Bose QC45’s along. Not sure I’d recommend for mixing, but they sound great for jamming. Bigger bass than my mixing cans (Meze 99 Classics).

Thanks, Chris! You know, the funny thing is that I thought the drums were too loud and obnoxious but it was too late to fix, lol. It was totally one of those situations where I said, “fuck it, you’ll get it on the next one”. Goes to show that we never really know what we’re doing or how it will be perceived.
Honestly, I didn’t do anything special to them other than just have the volume up a little too much for my own taste. I’m just glad they don’t sound terrible, haha.

Hey Novak! I just bought an “Og-1” and I know I’ll upgrade to the field eventually. (Your videos capture the spirit and potential of that instrument and it just looked like too much fun.) Any chance of you making knobs for the older model?
Hey man, that’s awesome! Congratulations! I don’t have plans on making knobs for the OG. There are plenty out there to choose from so I didn’t want to get into it, but I do make a pop filter that will fit if you end up having issues trying to sample things on windy days, or using it to sing into. Hope you write some jams!!
I looked around and the available knobs for the old model are trash. Scoop that market up with something aesthetic 😄 (no pressure)

Man mother reverb really pulls weight on that clav tapping am i right? nice jam transition at the end with the subtle tape moves. takes an experienced ear to place all this novak haha - not sure about the sbH tho, could be endless or finger with an OP soft synth- enjoy travel.
Yo, thanks dude!! No Modular sampling on this one. It was all done there so I didn’t have the Modular. I’m gonna release a video soon of a few things I like to do when I write and will include what I did with the synth sequencing, but for now, I’ll write a little thing without drums and then chop that into the drum sequencer where I’ll then sequence with endless. I rarely, if ever, use finger :)
