Audi S4 B8 steering noise *FIXED* *solution in description*

- Clunking noise coming from steering, was diagnosed as coming from steering rack but after having the rack refurbished it’s still making the noise?! Any suggestions?
*FIXED*.
I appear to have fixed this issue by spraying the exposed UJ in the passenger footwell and the top of the front strut mounts bearings with silicone grease. Still not sure where exactly the noise was coming from!

Bad strut mount rubber or misaligment of the springs in mount rubber..
I had that problem.. same sound on hard braking and turning wheel
what’s a UJ? upper arm joint?
It’s known as a U Joint
If you look close to where the firewall is in the driver footwell just above the pedals you’ll find one joint closer to the floor and possibly another near the top
A bit of Lithium grease on each one front and back top and bottom will help based on his fix.
@@KREYO_ZAthe other universal joint will be found in the underside of the vehicle. Also this guy in the video wrote passenger side footwell when the steering shaft is below the steering wheel. Nobody proofreads anymore!

I sprayed the universal joint on the steering rack with wd40 silicone spray.

What was the problem because the same sound is given to the A4 B8 Avant?!
Still on going i’m afraid! I’ve had the steering rack replaced and the noise is still there!?. Going to look at strut mount bearings next i think. Found a few videos on here were there is a similar noise and it turned out to be that. I will post an update when i find the problem.

Dàniel Dankò sorted the problem by spraying the exposed UJ in the drivers footwell with silicone grease. I also sprayed the front strut mount bearings too.
Alessandro Cini in the drivers footwell there is an exposed universal joint that is part of the steering column.
Hi I have same problem in my car what was the problem thanks
steering rod and steering box, in my case.
I was told it was a faulty steering rack so I had it replaced and the noise was still there.
I'm back, I change sterling rod and steering box and still the same problem 😭

Got the same problem on my Audi A5, drives me nuts
Did you try the silicone spray? The noise wasn’t there for the first 5 mins of driving. Once I sprayed the universal joint the noise went away never to come back! I had the car for over a year afterwards.
