The kids of today need to understand what put Killer Instinct on a whole different level from other games at the time. Kids now will never know what it was like to walk into an arcade and hear this game going at full volume with incredible sound and bass, and be blown away by not only how the game looked but how the game played with crazy combos. It was the first of its kind. It was the birth of combo fighting in fighting games afterwards. Not as crazy as this, but their own way of combos you see in video games today. The music of KI was simply amazing. The graphics of KI blew everyone away compared to the other games of the time, only because of the brilliant way of making the characters -- 3D characters turned into 2D sprites lol. The crisp sharp look of the "3D CGI characters turned 2D" was nothing like any other game at the time. During this time they had 3D fighting games like Virtua Fighter that had such jagged edges and slow movements because they were true 3D. But with Rare's Killer Instinct "faking" 3D, it took the graphical look of this fighting game to a whole new level at the time. It set itself apart from every other fighting game on the market, and set a new precedent of what to expect from fighting games! It was so amazing!
lol you would hear the KI machine from anywhere you were in the arcade. Hell, you could hear it just about anywhere you were in a mall if that mall's arcade had a KI machine. I remember when it first came out the crowds around the machine were massive. I was a kid, I could barely see the screen past the big kids and it took me forever to get my quarters up on the bezel to secure my turn just so that when it finally arrived i'd get my ass whooped in record time. Still wish I could go back.
+Ken Killings I felt really bad because for a moment there I was like "Quarters? Wtf is this guy talking about?" I guess mobile games are the current reborn of video game arcades, if only in the concept of paying so little to get so much. But then again no one has ever paid a little to an arcade machine or a mobile game.
7:25 LOL I died laughing, Max took a moment to do a Saberwulf Howl taunt and he got FULLY punished for it with a loss then the Riptor player pulled his fatality on him LMAO!
You had to know the button pattern (jab/weak kick) then med punch/hard kick & vice versa) so if u knew the button an opponent used at that point you could counter. Simple yet confusing to beginners. Game was & is dope...I played competitive online via XBAND & ranked national leaderboards regularly...never knew it was on Xbox one til recently smh but downloaded mame years ago to get another taste. A classic imo
+Edge2437 I'd like to see it come back as well. Crazy mindless dinosaur (and a few monkeys) fun. Final battles don't need bosses to be epic, this one is prime example.
@@olivertjacques6523 its better than you remember. for real. That game is more like Vampire Savior than any MK game. Chain Combos. Juggles. Flexible combo system. since I learned how to play it, it's become one of my favorite games.

+RAY296 No you can get this if you purchase killer instinct season 1 ultra edition pack and the Game comes free but you have to purchase The Killer Instinct Season 1 ultra edition pack to get it cause it is bundle only
Oh shit, I played this game so much with my buddies when I was a kid, we used to hang around each other house every weekend and sometimes after school so we could couch play against each other, sweet nostalgic memories.....back when everything was cool.
Matthew R no because of gameplay, music, controls and the combo system. KI2/Gold changed the combo system a bit and it wasn’t as good to perform plus the new characters they added were kind of meh. KI 2013 is good but the gameplay doesn’t flow as well as the original KI, it seems to be more of a button mashing combo system game more than actual knowing what you’re doing.
@@stevesteve0521 Thats entirely false with KI 2013. You look at this classic game with a heavy bias not realizing its way more broken with less to fight back against
@@Gamsterjeff600 I’m definitely not biased. True I grew up playing all the classic fighting games but I believe MKX is the best MK game, Tekken 7 is by far the best tekken game, KOF 13 I believe is the best KOF game and Virtua fighter 5 is the best virtua fighter game. Heck although Super street fighter 2 turbo is my favorite street fighter game I can make an argument that Ultra street fighter 4 is the best street fighter game. I bought an Xbox one for KI 2013 and when I first played it I got a 36 hit combo on my first try with sabrewulf by just mashing buttons. I’m not saying it’s not a good game because it is but I feel that the developers made the game a bit too accessible to play for casuals where getting a high hitting combo is meaningless as well as getting a combo breaker by guessing which buttons to press which I was never a fan of. KI classic is where it’s at for me, you’re not going to be getting 15 hit combos in that game unless you actually know what you’re doing. Combo breakers are a lot more time based and not just a lucky guess game, the music is excellent still my favorite KI soundtrack till this day and every character felt unique and different from each other where you just felt like you wanted to play with all them and master all of them. So to conclude no I’m not biased at all, if anything I feel every new fighting game release should be better than its predecessors and for the most part we got that with the big name fighting game franchises

I think it was (Hold)Back, Foward-WK,(Hold Forward while he's rolling then)Back-MP,(Hold Back, then right after the last hit of the spinning claw)Forward-MK... you can make 11hit King Combo if you want to show off with the (Hold)Back, Forward-FK but it would only do very very little dmg like scratch dmg... them SNES days bruh 👊

Pretty much 😁🎉😊 But yeah though. To this day I have yet to see anything quite like it. The arcade version is the best 🎉

The way the sound effects overlap/cancel out when comboing is hilarious

Same here. I love it when it happens in other games, too - it’s just so funny for some reason. I laugh at the simplest things, tbh.

Riptor sounded kinda like Bowser for a second there
I wish the recent KI was dark and gore happy like this
If you want dark Hisako is your character.
