You don't have to choose. Qing Mao, Juh and Keira are a devastating trio. Best of all worlds. Only way I can make Keira work nowadays too....Qing Mao's Armor penetration.

@@HeroWarsCentral Still impossible to make peppy and chabba fully useful tho. Amira - Polaris really broke the game, it is easy to just throw 2 magic defense artifacts and magic defense pattern in the end game but a lot of mid-tier teams suffer from not having that specific counters to Amira, same can be said for Tenebris. If you are in a new server and you go all in Tenebris - Amira with your entire guild you are really on a head start, easy months in gold.
Looking at your Amira/Heidi team, you used the wrong team pet. Amira/Heidi teams run Khorus, to block stuns, silences etc. If you swap Axel for Khorus, your Jhu/Lara team doesn't work often enough, since they now don't get stunned and can dodge Jhus big hits thanks to Heidi.
As for the Qing Mao vs Jhu, it is a weird comparison, since Qing Mao isn't a main DPS like Jhu normally is. Qing Mao is more of a support DPS. While Jhu is great for Osh, and I absolutely recommend him for anything that is not PvP (osh, campaign bosses, outland etc), in PvP he has two of the most popular heroes/pets as counters, in Martha and Axel. You can still do well with him if you manage to avoid them, but since everyone levels Martha for osh as well, it can be hard to find those teams. On my server, a lot of players are starting to run Rufus/Julius teams on defense, which become super bulky and hard to destroy if you don't run Qing Mao to give armor penetration and reduce the armor and health of the enemy front line. Other AP heroes don't do the same work Qing Mao does because Qing Mao can run Cain without jumping to the back. No other AP hero has as much energy gain as Qing Mao. Tristan is close when paired with Aurora, but you won't always want to use Aurora, and then Tristan falls of quickly. Qing Mao is, in my experience, the best AP hero against non-magic damage teams (where Isaac of course trumps Qing Mao). That being said, using just Qing Mao as a DPS will rarely work because her damage output is low on her own. She should be paired with heroes like Keira, Lara or any other marksman DPS, maybe even Jhu himself.
Which heroes should be leveled is impossible to keep track of in the long run because the main strategies on your server can change, depending on new hero releases, reworks, new skins or even just a new strategy that is discovered. The question you really need to ask is "what teams do I struggle against?", "do we often see those teams?" and "does this hero help me against these teams?". If you have answers to all of those questions, and you have the resources, then you should level that hero
I obviously cannot show every defense variation possible in a video, this was just the one suggested to me.
Lara was used because those 4+QM are what was suggested as well. Different defenses require different attack options. Leveling heroes that have the most possible use is still the most important and most efficient for new players.

Maybe the meta's different in lower-numbered servers, but like... 90% of the teams I come across in the Arenas, Guild War, or even CoW, have Yasmine fully leveled and at least Orange rank if not Red. And to that end, I _really_ gotta work on leveling my Helios to better counter her.
This is a great point. Yasmine is a monster! So are the other heroes in that list. She’s just got so many counters at the higher end….

That’s the big thing: Qing Mao is an incredible tool to have available. But a new player leveling her instead of Jhu leaves you struggling vs Osh and in pet adventures, etc.
@@HeroWarsCentral I agree 100%!!! Jhu is also playable in lower Levels Jhu is a Top Tier for sure!!! QM is a nice to have, I have around 7,5M Hero Power, i need her like Tristan for Penetration so that other damage dealers can handle the rest situative in CoW etc... Have a great weekend :)

I use Corvus-Tristan-Kayla-Aidan-Keira with Albus vs Rufus-Amira-Neb-Heidi Meta; 2nd Lineup is: Clevaer-QM-Jhu-Seb-Thea with Axell to beat them in CoW, I take mostly twice the same Team in CoW and go for Foundry... Aurora-Corvus-Tristan-Keira-Orion is also a real good Lineup in GW's for a lot of Teams, when you need fast damage, magic and physical at the same time. I thought Tristan is a Hink for a long time, but now i changed my thoughts. Good to have him in the toolbox :)
I'm surprised you didn't mention the main issue that she presents is that her resources are for Agility main stat. Jhu has a big advantage as a strength hero as you have to divide agility resources up amongst three of the mandatory heroes: Isaac, Nebula, Sebastian. Many heroes she pairs well with are also Agility. I do play Kiera/Qing Mao in my top five since I'm a low spending player and leveled them up in the years when they were a good team at defeating twins.
Do we want to hit the pause button on building the Osh team until we know what the Violinist/Music Conductor is all about? We could be moving on to a new set of heroes soon, or we could need half of the guild to focus on Osh and the other half on the new guy.
Q.M. was the hero of the month when I started my account a few years ago. I levelled her to a certain point and she carried my team for the first few months, then I focused on other heroes. A few months ago I finished levelling Q.M. She's interesting as a tank killer when Iris isn't available or too vulnerable to the opponent's team.

@@HeroWarsCentral Maybe it's a longer timeline, but the July 31 post with the Road map has me thinking one new thing per month. Q3 shows AoC and Asgard Expansion. AoC was supposed to be August, but bugs delayed that to September. That could mean September for Asgard Expansion (maybe pushed back to October because of AoC situation) and one new thing per month for Q4.
Maybe the best argument against leveling Jhu, but still not enough for me to tell new players to level QingMao!

Turns out dante teams have a pretty decent winrate. So do many IDH.
I am/was 100% invested in Qing Mao from the 1st month into Hero wars and I agree with Charlie, Jhu is better than Qing Mao. Great Video and I also shifted my priorities to leveling the Osh team now.

Your Defense team is not correct. No good player will use Axel with this team cause you get out Heidi, you get stunned all the time. Everyone will use Khorus and there the fights are way different.
I’d use a different attacking team with khorus as team pet. The existence of alternate pets does not suddenly make Qing Mao the only option.
unfortunately this is me taking the bait but qing mao is not about qing mao, given the right team (which admittedly remains undiscovered in the current meta, and there *_ARE_* several) she's a sebastian level support
By definition there cannot be “several” meta teams. And while she does work well against “several” teams, there are more efficient hero choices. Most of the teams people keep suggesting to me that she’s necessary to counter, she’s just not.
@@HeroWarsCentral most teams don't run an agility tank, but yes in the way rogue mage priest, warlock warrior druid, and beastcleave were all different staple comps - yes in fact there are agility tanks that work in the current meta

When I think about true sports, I think about how the most effective team available includes a strong quarterback, with a good wr or TE, or an athletic forward/team leader.

I couldn't beat Rufus-Amira-Neb-Heidi-Polaris/Dorian teams, when they made their appearance, but then I thought "why not use Jhu as a tank so he'll ult more often and destroy the backline", so now my most used combo on offence in arena is Jhu-Neb-Seb-Jorgen (60k power) and Martha (120k power), with team pet Vex... and I can use Nebula's ult on manual to stall Amira in Guild War to increase the winning odds of winning even more.
I do have an issue with Polaris or Dorian being replaced with strong Martha's tho :D

The game changes a lot, twice a year! Correct. Conclusion: level-up all good heroes and QM is one of them!!! And the new boss for Asgard fight might require QM! But OK for NEW Player she is certainly not a priority
Bruh doing testing VS Amira-Nebula-Heidi defense meta team WITH AXEL TEAM PET as you kill it with Jhu tank is actually hilarious. I don't know if youre being disingenuous or you're just not aware of the fact that if you swap Axel with Khorus then Jhu tank team losses every single time.
That’s a great point. Different defenses require different options. The team shown here was the one suggested to me because “Qing Mao is the hard counter.”
I’m not sure how Khorus would have made it better for the defense outside of affecting Lara, but again this is the offensive team that was suggested as a hard counter for that Amira team (swapping Jhu for QM).
Most of the Amira Heidi teams can be beat with variations of of lolosh
@@HeroWarsCentral Yes Charlie but the difference is that Qing Mao tank teams beat Amira-Heidi teams regardless of what team pet they’re using, very quickly too. Qing Mao is used only for one reason which is to give quick Armor Penetration with her artifact and Cain patronage for the back line to destroy enemy quick. Outside of that QM is pretty useless

Corvus is one of the best offensive/attacking tanks, and invaluable against Yasmine and Heidi teams!

Very wrong ideas mentioned here. And in fact qm is in the group of the not many heroes, that , paired with Aidan, does worse generally, not better.

@@HeroWarsCentral new heroes, pets, stats let old heroes spring to life, surprisingly. all depends on your level of play. if you levelled lara, QM will be an incredible addition to your line-up.
why did area of conquest rip you off on its golden ticket giving you only 500 golden thread at level 19 when it said gift of dominion as reward but when you buy it you don't get one that time we did

@@HeroWarsCentral yeah not great last time the reward was better buy golden ticket i believe it had both golden tread and orange gift of dominion by the time you get your castle to level 19 but this time it was junk. Even though i like area of conquest my guild came in 1st by over 400k we get 3000 golden threads so why grand prize for 500 golden thread

I laid out the reasons in the video why I feel Jhu is a more efficient choice to level than QM, but both will do well for you if your focus is arena/guildwar/clash of worlds

Don't worry, she works great in the right team and can be very strong on attack. Generally the more Charlie tells you not to invest in a hero, the more you should 😂
New players should not level multiple physical attacking heroes.
@@HeroWarsCentral Qing isn't really a physical damage hero though. She is pure damage and a force multiplier
New players shouldn’t level 3 agility heroes at once.

What about Dante? Is he the sort of hero you're recommending?
I don’t personally enjoy Dante but he suffers from some of the same issues that QM does. However, his pvp options are almost endless! Not great vs osh but he can fit into almost any team.
At high levels his damage starts to fall off a bit. He still has more uses than QM.
@@HeroWarsCentral Interesting! Thanks! I may not be high enough that he falls off yet. I started buffing him when I got tired of him constantly wrecking my teams and decided I wanted to be on the giving end of that instead of only the receiving end.
He’s very strong but once teams start to get into multiple red artifact armor buffs he just doesn’t quite do enough damage. Still wrecks most physical teams though.

@@johnmarshall6394 I have over 10m hero power right now and I use Dante just about every CoW. He doesn't drop off, he just needs the right team vs the right team. Same as every hero. Heidi and Amira are the best ways to counter him though, so keep that in mind (at least on newer servers they are less common than the Jhu counters) He's not useful in most PvE, but he rocks in PvP, especially on offense
