"ADABANA" is a flower that blooms but does not bear fruit, and is a metaphor for something that is just for show but has no substance. NEMOPHILA is one of Japan's four major girl bands that is currently receiving rave reviews all over the world and attracting the attention of many reactors. Please check out the four groups: NEMOPHILA, BAND-MAID, LOVEBITES, and HANABIE. Unfortunately, SAKI, one of NEMOPHILA's guitarists, recently left the group, leaving the group as a four-piece group. By the way, some people compare BABYMETAL to these bands, but BABYMETAL is the name of the three front members. So I think it's different because it's not a band style.
Agreed. Babymetal are an idol unit (and make no mistake: the Kami Band that back them are first-rate), and comparing them to a band is a bit apples-and-oranges. I love how they opened the floodgates for J-metal in the wider world, and the "alt-idol" world contains some very heavy stuff like Broken By The Scream, LyricHolic Opera Company, Maleficium, THE+BETH (much heavier live than their videos), PassCode (who add electronica), Isiliel, etc., but none are really to bed directly compared to bands. At first I questioned the decision to go forward as a quartet instead of replacing Saki (not easy to do, given her mad skills...but there are a LOT of serious shredders in the Japanese "girl's metal" scene). But having seen their recent releases and having just seen them live a couple nights ago here in Sapporo, I should have trusted them! Fantastic set, with all the charisma and magic we've come to expect _and_ a full, heavy sound.

Both Hazuki and Hara-chan have made some subtle changes in their tone stacks to account for the missing guitar: they're taking up a bit more space, as it were. Tamu was absolutely on fire...but I suppose at this point that need not even be said.

Nemophila are so consistent with quality and so different with their choices of songs. They are also the cover queens. When they tour with other bands they generally do covers of that band then play that song together with the band on the night. That brings some spectacular viewing. Try their first music video RAITEI.

Nemophila are so good! Youre in for another fantastic rabbit hole. Sadly they are now a four piece band following Saki's departure, yet are showing how determinrd they are to their craft and show no signs of slowing down.
Just saw them a couple nights ago up here in Sapporo, and I'm happy to report that the quartet version absolutely slays live. Their magical charisma remains intact.
Rise, Dissension, Revive, Zen + others are great tracks. Very versatile in their music. Extremely talented band. The Japanese metal/rock scene is incredible with the all-female bands leading the way. Lovebites, Band-Maid & Hanabie are all awesone + there are sone others. A deep dive is well worth your time.
Rap flow? Oh, yeah, Mayu raps as well as screaming and singing. They have three or four songs in which she raps for at least a few bars. From memory, 'Style', '鬼灯 (Houzuki)' and their cover of Limp Bizkit's 'Stuck' all have rapping in them. Great musicians. Now a four-piece but still as good. Mayu: vocals, occasional rhythm guitar Hazuki: 7-string guitar, backing and additional vocals Harraguchisan (Hara-chan): 5-string bass, backing and additional vocals Tamu Murata: Drums, backing and additional vocals (but can also play keyboards, sax, guitar, bass, xylophone etc). Also in this video is SAKI: 7-string guitar, backing vocals (former member. Left around Easter 2024)

Nemophila is elite when it comes to all lady bands and most bands in general . trust me so much more out there than just the usual band maid and lovebites .
It's not the food, music lessons are a required part of education for the first 9 years of school, in High School it's voluntary and you can continue a music education in college.
Unfortunately heavy metal in Japan are as niche as they are in the European and North American markets. Probably no more than a 15% market share. Maybe even less. Japan is the second largest music market behind the U.S. in terms of unit sales. Most music sold and played on the airwaves in Japan are J-Pop, Idol Pop, Pop Rock, and Contemporary Pop/Rock. Even Hip-Hop might have a larger audience. This is despite that there are a lot of Japanese Hard Rock and Metal bands. Hundreds of all-female bands too which Japan has far more than any nation.
Nemophila are fu**ing great. I think metal is not actually huge in Japan. Every day you get a request for a new Japanese women or women fronted metal / rock band. Then today is a good day :) I have stuck to active bands, with one exception who are currently out a singer. If you get to any then awesome. I hear that comment a lot when people check out these Japanese bands--why are they so good, what are they feeding them? I know it's kinda rhetorical, but the answer is simple: education. They learn from an early age, many join school music clubs in junior high to high school and those that are looking to do music as a career choice go to music school, so they study and practice their instruments, learn theory and songwriting rather than just try to simply rely on natural talent; they develop it. There are TONS of bands and players this good in Japan.

Adabana (アダバナ) refers to any flower which doesn't bear fruit or a metaphor for something that is meaningless or fails to meet its fullest potential.

Tied for 2nd for my favorite band with Asterism. Mayu is the best rock vocalist since Steven Tyler IMO. Also check out Nek! And Hanabie.
