The right word is gasoline which gas is short for. Petrol is short for petroleum which is oil so calling gasoline gas makes a lot more sense than calling it petrol/oil. Using dumb names for things has got to be one of the most British characteristics, next they’ll start saying egg flower instead of pasta and act like everyone that keeps calling it pasta is wrong
