- Guitar demo of the new shimmering ambient dream device from Old Blood Noise Endeavors, the Minim Reverb/Delay & Reverse.
Available for purchase at: thepedalzone.com/minim/
Minim takes the foundational features of Old Blood Noise’s reverse reverberating smash-hit the Rêver, but loads it up with completely reworked delay, reverb and reverse algorithms. You will now float away on clouds of warbly modulated delay and swim in oceans of pulsating harmonic tremolo reverb. On top of that, the momentary reverse section can now be shifted up an octave for dreamy serene shimmering textures. Let’s check it out.

Thanks for watching, gang! Old Blood Noise just made one of my favorite pedals even better. That octave reverse is to die for! If you enjoyed the demo, then please consider leaving a like, comment or go all in and share the video with your friends. Seriously, every action has a massive impact on the channel and its reach. Thank you for your constant support
Do you like Rêver better ? This seems less tame which to me seems harder to play
Matthew Wilson - Did you watch my verdict at the end of the video? I prefer Minim.
Would you say it is exactly like ReveR but with additional features?
Great demo! Love the subtle Philip Glass book photo.
What's the app on the phone, thx.
Thanks for this review. It inspired me to buy the pedal and after a long hiatus from playing guitar I found this pedal incredibly inspirational and it is just so soothing to play with. I'm sure that a lot of people would share my feeling that you should post videos of you just jamming with these pedals. I would listen all day. Thank you.
Really honored to hear that my demo inspired you to pick up a Minim. It's such a cool pedal. The octave reverse makes the price of admission worth it alone. 😊
Glorious pedal and jamming
This pedal is a must have. Got mine today and it blew me away.
Happy to hear you’re diggin’ it 😊
Just bought my Minim today. Can't wait for it to arrive. Thank you for doing what you do.
Hope you enjoy it!
Great demo there, and loving your enthusiasm and great playing!
Thank you kindly 🙏
The chorus really pushed this pedal into dreamland. Great demo!
Happy you liked it 😊 Yeah, that modulation definitely makes those beautiful airwaves sway and dance.
Nice playing. This is a beautiful sounding pedal... Sold!
Thank you so much! It's indeed an incredible pedal. I love it!
Damn, that chorus sounded really cool, very different from most dedicated chorus pedals. As always, thanks for the great demo Stefan, you're easily my favourite gear youtuber!
Awwww, man! That's super kind of you. So happy you like the videos. Means the world to me 🙏❤
This demo definitely was the deciding factor in purchasing this pedal. Can't wait to get it in the mail.
That's amazing to hear, man! Minim is so good!
Very good demo. And thank you so much for pointing out Eigengrau. Great album, just listening to it, it's awesome!
Cheers, man! Happy you both enjoyed the demo and the music recommendation. Eigengrau rocks 🤘
Found this channel today and subscribed within minutes. Your playing is superb! every demo I've watched you seem to match the music to suit the pedal perfectly. Thank you and please keep doing what you're doing 😁👌
Wow! That is so kind of you... THANK YOU ❤ I'm so happy to have you here, to take part in the sonic journey 🙏
Great video, your channel is the best. I’d love to see a video sometime with you walking through your alternative tunings and why you chose them!
Thanks, man! Kind of you to say 😊🙏
This is a great add on with my bliss mood pedal. This video helped me decide on buying the pedal
Honored to hear that my demo was helpful and inspiring to you. Minim is awesome. Can easily see how it would pair well with MOOD
I totally agree with you on the Reverse speed. I was comparing the two to decide what to get. Rever is an awesome pedal but as soon as I played Minim it gave me new song ideas! I never really gotten that instant creativity from a pedal before. Really inspiring. Thanks for the demo!
Happy to hear you're diggin' Minim as well. I like everything they've changed. Big upgrade from the Rêver in my book 😊
@@thepedalzone Totally! Sorry. didn't even see you reply. Hope you are well mate!
In your hand this pedal sounds freaking awesome! In your hande anything sounds freaking awesome... :-)
You have no idea how badly i need this right now :( damn you Stefan!
I’m “sorry” 😊😂 Happy you liked the demo! Means a lot 🙏 It’s a great pedal.
@@thepedalzone will get mine tomorrow 🙈
@@alexaudiovisuals - AWESOME!! What a perfect way to end the year ☺
It seems OBNE are coming out with new amazing pedals constantly! I can’t keep up!
They've definitely been very active this year, that's for sure 😊
Id love a video about what you use on your board other than fx pedals. Patch cables, power supplies, power cables, buffers, ab/y, controllers, loop switchers. etc etc
Seems like this pedal can basically do anything you need for ambience and post-rock. It just arrived today so I'm super excited to try it myself
For sure! It's an instant ambient machine. I love its octave up reverse. I'm sure you'll have a blast with it 😊
@@thepedalzone I'll post something on Instagram if I figure out a good Riff

Hi Stefan, love the video! I'm really excited about this pedal and that octave up reverse is to die for. Have you ever considered making a video about your personal pedalboard and how you use and order your effects?
Happy you like the pedal 😊 And yeah, I've thought about doing a pedalboard rundown, but the problem is that my board never stays the same. Constantly swapping stuff in and out 😂
Good lord what the ! The Toane is killing me
Happy you enjoyed the sounds ❤
You use this way better than I use mine
That’s kind of you to say. I’m sure I just use it differently though. If you have clips of you using it on Instagram or something like that, then you’re more than welcome to tag me in it. Would love to hear how you use it 😊
damn, I loved that chorus and sprites sound especially. Might go a bit heavier on the verb mix and lighten up on the delay mix, but that is basically the modulated gooey washed sound I have had in my head. I know it's an older video, but watched it a few times and really love seeing some favorite/specific uses of pedals in addition to general overview/demo stuff.
Thanks, man! Really happy to hear you liked the demo. Minim is super underrated. I love its pitch-shifted reverse sounds. It gets really close to the fabled Mode7 on the Boss PS-3.
I was a little confused too when OBNE brought out this, but I’m so glad they did. 100% going to pick one up. Would love to hear more music recommendations
Minim just rules! The octave reverse is worth the price of admission on its own 😊
Who in the hell down votes this video?!! Awesome as always. Your channel is easily one of my favorites. Keep 'em coming 🤘😎
Don’t know, man. Art is a subjective thing, and hence shouldn’t please everybody. But I’m very happy that YOU like it. Means a lot to me. Thank you for watching and for taking the time to write such a kind comment. Means the world to me ❤️🙏
I'd say a bunch of unhappy pieces of shit...
Cliff Richards fan club? They just can see how this would work at Wimbledon?
Not sure but he’s getting an ass beating soon
Nice playing! I love all of your videos! Incredible pedals, great guitar and what a wonderful edition of Deluxe Reverb! Sweet sounding! By the way what is the speaker in it?
Anyone know the name of the smartphone app he is using to run the Minim through?
Man, I really, truly was committed to spending less money on gear come 2020. Guess there's always 2021.
A little Minim won’t hurt your plans 😉😊
Ok this one I like more than the Rėver! Wow
Your chanel rocks Stefan! 👌 Where can I get a sweet pedal zone shirt like yours?
Minim is definitely a big step up from Réver. The octave reverse makes it worth its price of admission alone. I should have some merch up for sale early in the new year. Thank you for all your kind words. Means a lot 🙏
Very cool. I'd love to hear what you'd do with some Pladask Elektrisk or Drolo pedals.
Thanks, man! Pladask and Drolo make great stuff 👍
I didn't like the single reverse repeat and the delay time on the Rever, so this is a massive improvement.
Happy you dig Minim! I think it's better overall as well.
Amazing I’ve been saving for the Rever but I I think I have another 1st place winner
Cheers, man! Definitely go for Minim!
Thank you Stefan! Are you going to the winter NAMM show again?
Yeah, NAMM is definitely in the plans for next year 😊👍
@@thepedalzone Great, that’s what I thought, hopefully I run into you
Dude my mind is BLOWN. Not for the pedal - I mean, the pedal is awesome .. but I am in the process of giving a listen to your album recommendation, I was listening to the first track, Once I Was, and I was really digging it. As I listened I started thinking about these improv jams I did with a few mates 8 years ago and thinking we could've maybe achieved something like this if we had put in the time to work on some of our ideas... and dude, minute 9 there is this section that sounds a lot like one of our jams, like, honestly, if we had published it we could sue for plagiarism XD
Excellent sounds! Love the pedal.
Do you have any tips for putting together chord progressions like this? What are you thinking about when playing in terms of theory?
Cheers! Happy you enjoyed the demo. My tip is to not think, but listen. That’s what I do. I noodle and listen intently while I do it, and from there springs melodic ideas I then place within the context of some root notes to create a progression. That’s it. Don’t overthink it. Just listen 😊
With the delay knob at 0, reverb turned right and reverse on, can it work just as a reverse reverb without any delay? Your demos are such an inspiration, thank you for your amazing job
Hey great review and demo, can you please explain what that thing on your phone with the circles was, and how does it work.
Cheers, man! It's an app called Coldplay:Hypnotised. Made by Opal Limited.
Thanks for the review! I play in a shoegaze band so this sounds like it's up my alley. I already have the Walrus Audio Slo but I've been looking into adding more ambient textures to my board. Between the MINIM and Collision Device's Black Hole Symmetry, which would you go for?
Happy you liked the demo. Minim will definitely help broaden your sonic Shoegaze palette. Both Minim and BHS are great, so it all depends on what features you need. Minim's reverse sounds and immensely deep ambience are instant shoegaze territory though.
Hello lover,
I swear, I buy most of my pedals based off the incredible demos you upload.
I’m curious to know if you have a “dream pedalboard” setup. Would love to know what pedals you’d chose and what order they would be in.
Continue giving me reasons to buy more pedals. Haha.
My partner may not appreciate it, but I sure do.
Awesome pedal! I've really been enjoying your channel. One question about the Minim. Does it have reverse reverb in addition to reverse delay?
Thank you so much! No, the Minim doesn't have a classic reverse reverb. The way it works is that it has a reverse block, which you can place before or after the reverb/delay. So you're technically reversing everything. If you want that classic Alesis Midiverb reverse reverb, which is actually just dynamically evolving delay lines, then look into something like the Keeley Loomer. It nails those classic shoegaze sounds in one box. Minim is a super rad and unique ambint device though. I love it dearly. The reverse octave sound makes the price of admission worth it alone.
What pedal would you pair the minim with for overdrive / distortion ?
This demo of course sounds magical, but I’ve never heard the practical (for lack of a better term) musicality of a reverse delay in my playing - in my hands they’ve always become a stuttery gimmick that I couldn’t properly work into a sketch. Awesome awesome sounds man. The octave reverse sounds beautiful and I’d love to play the Minim. How many delays is too many? :p
Sort of unrelated question - but what app are you using on your phone? Thanks in advance Stefan! So excited to check out Eigengrau - I loved Holy Fawn when you recommended them in another vid.
Depends what kind of music you're playing, I guess. I play a lot of weird psych and use a ton of reverse. The Minim into EQD Avalanche Run is amazing.
Listening to Eigengrau now.
YES!!! 🙌🤘
Man, this pedal is giving me the same feels from all the ambient parts in Hopesfall "The Satellite Years" & I really want to get this. Also- good band/album recommendation! Totally digging their stuff.
Happy you enjoyed the sounds. I'll have to check out Hopesfall. Never heard about it before. 😊
Cool pedal, nice video! What was the ambient loop app you were using on your phone? Cheers!
Cheers! The app is called Coldplay: Hypnotised. Not sure it's available anymore though
The shimmers seem very sharp in the minim. The Rever layers much more behind your playing, where the minim takes over. I love the Rever , personally I think the minim is too sharp. It punches the high end a little too much. As always great video and display of its features
To each their own. Sound is always subjective. I greatly prefer Minim and don’t find it sharp or harsh at all. it is bright, but that’s good. It sits super well in a band mix. Darker reverbs can easily disappear, but I really want my ambience to be heard 😊
If there was a low pass filter for it that would solve the problem. (Mark Johnston)
Oh god oh god oh god 🤤🤤🤤🤤
Hahaha! Happy you dig it 😊
Is the app you used for this still going? Can’t seem to find it on the App Store?
Cool stuff! Which pedal is better:this one or Avalanche run?
Subjective....but. I have both. Avalanche R has good sounds with wherever the knobs are. MINIM....I am struggling to get useable sounds. Thats harsh... but where I'm at. Probably just not my deal 😉
Is is a reverse reverb (reverse on the whole signal/effects) or just a reverse delay, like the EQD Avalanche run?
Another excellent demo and review. I bought one and love it:) I am just wondering if you have used an expression pedal with minim and if so any preferences/compatability issues?
So cool. What kinda guitar is that red one? pretty neat, you have good taste
Cheers, man! The guitar is a Tonfuchs Bulldog. One of the best guitars I've ever played. So sad that it was only on loan. I miss it every day :)
@@thepedalzone cool! I've never heard of those before. Hopefully you find one again someday
Help! What is the app that turns your phone into a tapable instrument. Want one!
Hi Stefan, do you like more this one or the cirrus?
I like them both equally well. All depends on what features you need. Cirrus does pack more versatility, so if you need a bunch of sounds, tweakability and tempo control, then go for that. If you need a unique washy ambient symbiosis, then go for Minim
Hi Stefan, what iPhone app is that? Love it!!!
It's called Coldplay: Hypnotised. Made by Opal Limited for Android and iOS. Happy you enjoyed the sounds!
The Minim is really a pedal with new and exceptional sounds. But one thing that bothers me, is that it is a litttle bit noisy. I play a lot with headphones. The reverb has kind of a sine-wave hiss, especially with higher settings of reverb and decay, and modulation below noon. But much worse is the delay. If you increase the feedback to max, you get a self oscillating modulated noise. This can get very loud with shorter delay times. In comparison my Eventide Space and TimeFactor are "deadly" quiet. For an ambient pedal, the delay time is quite short.
Minim or Rêver for that matter isn’t about the individual parts, but that the sum of its parts make up a greater whole. It’s about the expansive ambient possibilities you get when you run the reverb into the delay, and then chop it up with the reverse. If you want a reverb and a delay, then go and get those. If you want a special textural device, then get Minim. It has a bit of hiss, but nothing excessive or annoying to me, and definitely nothing you’ll notice when the music is playing. Compose and record some songs. You won’t notice any noise in the mix.
@@thepedalzone That's true, I agree. The sum of the effects makes it all. And the Reverse on top of reverb and delay is really unique. Als long as you play notes, you will notice no noise. And your playing shows the sounds and potential of the pedal just great.
There is an interesting video by OBNE comparing the Rêver and the Minim. The part at about 3:00 minutes explains probably a little bit, what I mean.
Would having this and the dweller on your pedalboard be redundant?
No, far from it. They are very different devices and complement each other nicely
What app did you use for ambient drone type stuff? Couldn’t find it in the app store based on the info you gave.
I think what you used is an app based on Bloom by Opal Limited, the one listed doesn’t seem to exist any longer.
Obviously a ringing endorsement for the Minim over Rêver overall, but is there any aspect of the Rêver that you still prefer over the new king?
I honestly think that Minim is better on all fronts. I like the modulated reverb in Rêver, but you can get similar modulated tones when you run Minim’s Modulated Delay into the Harmonic Tremolo Reverb.
I just stumbled across this video, and went out and bought the pedal. Quick question: where did you find that Hypnotised app? It’s no longer in the App Store. Is there anything similar out there?
Honored to hear that my demo inspired you to pick up the pedal. It's a fun one! Regarding the app, it's probably not available anymore. I installed it on my phone several years ago. If you're on iPhone, then Bloom: 10 Worlds would be an alternative. It's not free though. If you're on Android, then Skales is a free alternative.
@@thepedalzone your demos have also inspired me to pick up the Meris Hedra, the Keeley Loomer, the NU-33 and the Hologram Microcosm.
Can you control the tempo with a tap pedal?
No, you can’t. The reverse time is fixed, and the standard delay can be adjusted via the delay time knob.
I'm stuck between this MINIM and the dark star, it's driving me crazy. I was looking at the KMA Cirrus as well but it's way out of my price range over here. I found one on reverb for $180 and didn't jump on it so it's gone forever now. I'd like to see what this does with an expression pedal. I feel like it can kind of do what the Dark Star does but also not at all. I was looking for a crazy ass reverb and this is more of an echo/delay in my opinion. But it does the octave weird stuff I've been looking for as well. Decisions decisions.... Minim, Dark Star, Transmisser, or Cirrus.... I'm going for a weird O'brother type sound. Gah lee
Also, I don't know why I said anything about an expression pedal lol. I've listened to this video probably 20 time's while cooking or doing other stuff and have just missed that part as far as watching instead of just listening
@@foreverjulybass85 which pedal have you decided on? Kinda am in the same position
@@benhenschel145 I bought the KMA Cirrus and it's amazing. The only way to make it better would be to add saves because you get so many useful tones out of it. It's hard to just stick with one unless you put all the knobs where you need for each part of a song you want to play. Or just buy a other one lol. Now I'm stuck between the Obne Dark Star and the Sunlight. I'll probably end up buying the Sunlight by tonight. Check out his video for it. I wasn't going to buy it until I heard what he did with it lol. Dark Star is next though
Can you run the verb or delay without modulation at all?
Just dial the Modulation knob all the way counter-clockwise, and you will have reverb without modulation. On the Delay side it's more complicated as the modulation is tied to the length of the delay. So if you want to keep the delay clean, then you need to use short delay settings.
The Source Audio Collider would be the obvious comparison...both have great features.
But thanks to your Dweller demo, I currently have no need for those.
Just because they both do delay and reverb, doesn't mean they're an obvious comparison. Collider is designed to do a lot of things. It's a multi-mode delay and reverb in one. Minim is more about how the sum of the parts make up a greater whole. An ambient symbiosis. They are vastly different machines. But I'm happy to hear you're in love with your Dweller. It's a fun and unique pedal.
@@thepedalzone I should rephrase that...I was thinking more that they compare for having lots of features compared to other Verb/Delays. Cheers!
Awesome demo of a great pedal. Unreasonable IMO for a delay pedal not to include at least a tap tempo switch. Other than that, fantastic.
Happy you enjoyed the demo! I get your frustration, but in the case of Minim, the lack of Tap Tempo makes total sense. This is not ment to be a delay pedal... or a reverb pedal for that matter. This is designed to be a sonic soundscape symbiosis. The delay and reverb are designed to smear together for long stretchy pads and shimmering textures, which can then be reversed on the fly via the momentary reverse switch. So the purpose of this pedal was never to be in or on time. Its purpose is to create worlds of hazy reverse reverberating ambience you can dive into and lose yourself to for days. Context is everything 😊
@@thepedalzone Thanks for replying, and sorry to have taken so long to reply back. So, it's surely a great concept for a pedal this. Like I said, I love what it does, and how it sounds. If I were the builder, however, I'd probably leave that decision -- whether the delay and the reverb are going to smear together, and if it's going to be on time, etc. -- to the customer. I'd make it flexible enough to allow the artist (the player) to be as scarcely limited as possible. Anyway, I believe I've found the closest to a perfect delay/reverb pedal in the GFI Specular Tempus.
Minim vs Astral Destiny vs Avalanche Run V2 vs EHX Oceans 12 ???
Did you get any noise with this pedal? I’ve found it the case in my chain, ands it’s also not liking my boss blues driver too much . Has a weird throbbing motion going on. Only happens as I turn the reverb knob up.
No, don't have any noise issues at all. The throbbing motion you're referring to is supposed to be there. The reverb has harmonic tremolo modulation on the tail, so that's where the pulsating throbbing effect is coming from, and hence why you experience it when you turn up the reverb.
Btw, are you in standard tuning for the intro riff?
So in reverse mode you can't change the delay time?
Exactly. The reverse delay time is fixed
what is the app you connected your phone to the pedal to for kind of random ambient notes?
It's called Coldplay:Hypnotised. Made by Opal Limited for iOS and Android
@@thepedalzone oh thank you! for some reason when I saw that in the list I thought it was to give credit to the band Coldplay! :) got it! thank you!

ThePedalZone no love for explosions in the sky? That’s okay.
I freaking love EITS. One of my all time favorite bands, and also the reason why I bought the pedal. But buying that pedal was a nice lesson. What works for your heroes doesn’t necessarily have to work for you. My own sonic voice is simply different to the voice of EITS, that doesn’t mean I don’t enjoy listening to EITS. Their universe is incredible to listen to, and they are one of my all-time favorite live bands.
ThePedalZone thats a pretty insightful point. Now that you say it I have had a few of those buying the gear of your heroes and having it not work out.
Does it have a tap tempo
No, it doesn’t have tap tempo
I know this is subjective. But which one is your personal favorite if compare this with EQD AvRun? I think one downside of this pedal is there's no tap tempo but AvRun doesn't have cool reverse features like Minim's.
Avalanche Run has reverse delay.

Is this a modded Rever?
It's a new take on the core feature set of the Rêver, yeah. Everything is explained in the demo :) The delay, reverb and reverse algorithms have been completely changed. If you wanna hear the sonic differences, then Old Blood Noise have a nice comparison video on their RUclips channel.
I'm away from home for 5 weeks. I wonder what my rig is doing right now... * sigh * I wonder if my pedals feel as alone as I do.
7:00 for score.
Remember, your pedals will always be with you in your heart ❤
Well I'm annoyed. I just bought the Rever and it seems like they improved the echo and added the octave up reverse. This would be ideal for me because I'm playing a bass VI, so octave up would work better with my setup than the current Rever reverse. And it's £10 cheaper than the Rever! Grrrr. Nice video though Stefan, even though I'm really pi**ed off with this pedal!
Stuff like this happens all the time across every pedal brand out there. It's natural that brands want to improve on the stuff they make. Should be easy to flip the Rêver and get a Minim instead if that's what you really want. But make sure to enjoy Rêver while you have it. It's a really fun pedal as well. Happy you enjoyed the demo 🙏
@@thepedalzone Yeah, such is life I guess. But it's really frustrating as I haven't had the pedal for very long yet the Minim looks like a much better fit to my particular requirements than the Rever. I'd had some discussion with the guys at OBNE about the reverse feature, which I was struggling with, and this seems to be better resolved on the Minim.
bro i cant keep watching videosm on your channel or i will end up selling my dog for more pedals lol
Noooooo! Not the dog! My heart wouldn't be able to take it 😢 What's the name of your dog? Mine is named Oberst. He's a mixed breed, but the cairn terrier shines through the most 😊🐶❤ Dogs are the best!

for what it dose pice of a guitar i think not i got other cheaper ways to get thees same sounds some ways are free in studio pedals should never be over 200£ dosnt cost 30£ to make one
too squeaky, squealy to my ears, no? can you make the tails less high frequency?
No, there's no tone control on this pedal. But the overall tone also depends on what guitar and amp you're using. I like to use bright single coil guitars into bright Fender style amps. So that of course also results in a brighter tone. If you tend to user equipment with a slightly darker voicing, then you can also expect this pedal to sound darker through your rig.
