oh obne, i love you for this. i hope more guitarists and pedalcompanies wake up and embrace concepts from the modular synth world. modulate modulation. make pedals interoperable. without selling extra interfaces. its 2024, i was promised flying cars... and still midi 1.0? make self morphing pedals on demand. leave the trodden paths of old. ye keif, tele and amp always works. great. thx.

let's not forget OBNE made another affordable thing called MTET. it is a very specific device, not for all, but they made it anyways, huge respect for offering that option.
as for the X3, it's the instabuy top-notch stuff. the og ramper is affordable and small enough to have at least two, and powerful! and the big brother, well, providing sync, subdivs, tap and momentary functions, costs like three little rampers. if you didn't have one, and you have pedals with expression control, believe me, you need it.

@8:23 I see a blue haired mother on the left, yelling out in an _orange speak bubble_ to her two _orange and red_ cats, (who's eyes light up) to come get dinner. The cats are 'play fighting' over a _black spikey toy_ that got flung into the air. And the _blue illumination_ (top right) is from the TV in the living room, where we hear the husband who is yelling back in the Red speak bubble (top left) "hey you feed the cats but where's my dinner!" 🤣

I just read the description & now I want OBNE to make an Expression Rapper. A pedal inspired by a typo. Kinda like a Miku that raps. It can use various vocal formants & vowel sounds that rhyme. They don't even have to be words. All you need is tap tempo & you have a pedal that raps along with your playing.

It sounds funny at first, but think of the possibilities. Expression/ramping features can change the words/sounds to avoid repetition. The rhymes don't even have to make sense & it can still sound cool. Such a brilliant idea. Mark Johnston. You sir are a genius.

Im curious if these would work on an hx stomp or quad cortex. Because that just opens a whole new world of possibilities!

Man just put MIDI on the pedals. So much easier

I mean that’s objectively not true. Midi will absolutely give you more granular and precise control but it’s always more work to configure. And I’m highlighting the use here on pedals that support midi because that’s a lot of what I have but this will also offer control for non midi capable pedals.

@@markjohnstonofficialIt’s objectively totally true. You have a tried and true standard that works with everything already. Since the 80s. Can control everything seamlessly without the need for additional expensive boxes

I agree with mark. I’m running my x3 into my Morningstar mc8 so I can send it to any of my midi enabled pedals, but I can physically change parameters on the fly… which isn’t really possible when using the built in lfo generators of the Morningstar where you are stuck with just 4.

there's exp gen by cooper fx that does support midi being an analog expression device. it doesn't support subdivisions and doesn't provide an immediate control over all four generators, but it was well designed too. what I want here to say is that midi can live along with expression control and does provide nice stuff like presets and true midi clock, but for 200$ you just can't have it all, it seems. not everyone use midi, and I guess most folks would just still benefit from tap tempo. I personally love this box and its features, already ordered (keep in mind I already have two rampers anyways, exp gen and SA reflex).
last, but not least, remember, not every pedal has midi.

I’m not understanding the TRS configuration thing. All i want to know is if this thing will work with Meris and Strymon using a standard TRS sold everywhere. Yea, I’m an old techno dummy . . Have mercy. LOL
