When I first saw the camp uprising I was also very disturbed and upset. It's an interesting fact that test audiences were also originally concerned that Wednesday had really killed Amanda, so they had to add the brief shot of her with her family on the plane to reassure viewers.
One of my biggest regrets in life is missing seeing Raoul Julia live as Don Quixote. It would have been amazing to see! I did see Zero Mostel as Tevye in Fiddler on the Roof and Anthony Quinn as Zorba the Greek. But I just didn't get around to seeing Julia in Man of La Mancha on stage.
I never saw this as referencing autism. I have an autistic daughter and have grown with her to understand who she is. My ex and I also think my ex is autistic. I will have to think about this as referencing autism. Interesting observation, thank you. I love Joan Cusack. Oddly, one of my favorite things she voice acted was Peep and the Big Wide World." My daughter loved it as a kid and it was one of the shows for very young children I loved.
If you like pun movies, you'll probably enjoy "Transylvania Twist". Form its parodies of Freddy, Jason, and Leatherface, all together in the opening sequence, chasing after a woman in the forest, to the actual actor from the "Phantasm" movie reprising/parodying his role in that franchise. To the silliness of scenes like 'The Newly Dead Game', and "Think of the Royalities". It's still my favorite movie.
It's both a hoot and a bit sad to see all the gen=zers who think this movie was ahead of the time because of the accurate humiliating of the WASPY-privileged world, we actually were in a halfway decent and forward moving time back then, and then I don't know, Mandela effect, everyone forgot about all of it for 20 years and now look where we are. None of the discovery of how effed up our society is towards each other is new, just like it wasn't new back then, or in the 80s, or the 70s or the 60s. It just waxes and wanes. It's lucky we have these hilarious jabs to watch because if you can't laugh, it's gonna kill us all.
I like the call-back: Debbie tells Fester "No woman in her right mind could love you!"
Then he meets a woman named "Dementia..."

3:26 yes, he entered her front door if you know what i mean. 😅
"They probably murdered a bunch of people and kids..."
Gen X: Was that wrong? Should they have not done that?
😆
