Someone brought in donuts to work today. I used to say that glazed donuts were my kryptonite...they make me weak. I had no interest in them this morning. Praise God! I count this a victory.

I'm able to stay away from those temptations but staying friends with this that feel like they are out to break my path is difficult. I've walked away from friends who just won't respect my path and lifestyle choice.

Unfortunately, the very next day, I caved to donut holes.... physically exhausted, the flooring crew had just left, and these were left behind, forgotten. And, I caved.

One important point: having a sweet tooth (or being a sugar addict) is totally socially acceptable. Compare that to being a alcoholic, having a gambling problem or smoking like a chimney (which are "legal" addictions, like sugar). Then if you are addicted to some "illegal" substance, you're the lowest of the low.

That was great! The worst part is, when you're addicted, you know all this stuff...I do the "Quit Sugar Summit" every time it comes out, and when I fall off that wagon with a big thud I can pick myself up and get back on instead of letting it bury me in the mud! It never goes away but refreshing this information helps keep me going!

The last month my husband was alive I was under so much stress and I craved carbs, especially sugar/chocolate. The last few days in the ICU I had my sister bring me a bag of chocolate because I could have ransomed my kids for it. The need was a physical thing. Oddly enough the craving for chocolate disappeared as soon has he passed. For the rest of the carbs the craving took a few weeks but did go away.

I think my son is going through a sugar detox right now. We've decided that January 1st started a sugar free, low carb way of life for him, due to how the SAD makes his body feel. Since then he's experienced headaches, nausea, puking, and fatigue. I've already consulted the doctor's office, and they say it's likely that's what he's experiencing, or a stomach bug. I guess we'll see, either way He will come out better when it's over.

After starting keto I noticed EVERY SINGLE TIME I sat down to watch TV in the evening I wanted something sweet. Geez. I know I wasn't hungry but it's such a strong urge. I make KetoChow core with added beef gelatin and it turns to "pudding" by the 2nd day. It's helped me not eat sugar & it's slower eating than chugging the shake as a dessert. We bought a Creami but I'm too cold for ice cream.
I'm trying to do other things in the evenings or keep my hands busy when having the TV on.

Zero sugar is the only healthy amount. Especially isle you’re an addict. Think about it this way, can a heroine addict handle a small amount of the drug and still keep their addiction under control? Of course not. Neither can you if you’ve got a carb addiction. And if you think you might have a carb addiction, then you probably do.

The only thing that has worked for me is things like Keto Chow, where I can grant myself dessert to satisfy my sweet tooth with pudding or ice cream. I have fallen off the wagon lately, but 2024 has me climbing back on!

Easiest way to not consume is to carry your own treats. Everyday at work they have a "huddle" (meeting of everyone on that shift in all departments of the store) and someone brings snacks for the whole group. If I bring my own I tend to behave myself. If I don't, I get tempted to eat one and then I feel bad later.

Joe is correct one small piece of bread can knock you off. I am trying to get my act together. I don't want my diabetes Dr. to say. See I told you! You can't sustain keto so here are more drugs. Salt/Electrolytes is a topic old like to know more about. I am reading the book The Salt Fix. I used to drink one LMNT about four or five times a week. Since I started reading it I started drinking about 2.5 LMNT packets per day. I feel great, but I have also started eating a strict ketovore plan at the same time. My blood pressure seems to be higher. (I know you are not doctors, nurses or health care professionals.). I tried SALTT this week. I don’t like the flavor as much as LMNT. What’s your take on salt/electrolytes. I really respect your opinions.

A 5 minute video on Using approved sweetners for keto desserts. Good or bad? Using once in a while okay, to have a sweet treat, since eating keto is for the rest of our lives? Many comments toward keto bloggers, are against even mentioning a recipe if they're keto. They believe that we should only eat protein, and a few veggies and lc fruits the rest of our life. I for one, enjoys an approved sweet treat once in a while.

I’ve been good with watching the processed sugar & other sugars in things. My problem is that I have celiac and started my health journey by cutting out gluten. I got really good at it too. So all my friends & family are like, hey try this, it’s gluten free! I’m like yeah it’s gluten free but it’s still an Oreo & still has sugar. I was doing so good before taking a vacation to Las Vegas in summer of 2022 with my family. Now I’m struggling with not eating the carbs, like the fry’s at In n Out because they’re gluten free. Or gluten free sushi, pizza etc. I’m cracking down now, it’s just hard when my kids & other family aren’t super supportive. I know they care but they think one piece won’t hurt me.🫤 I know fry’s are carbs & they turn into sugar in our system but like Rachel said, it’s not immediately detrimental & it’s easy to make excuses. I’m not making any more excuses! I’m back in saddle as they say! ❤ Thankful for your support & guidance! 🥰
