I have found that the sync feature is only really useful when cooking fresh foods. For frozen foods, anything more than 10-15 minutes difference between trays, means that the frozen food waiting to be cooked will start to defrost. If you based your total cooking time for that particular food because it was frozen before cooking it (as many instructions for frozen foods state on their packaging), it will change the food's final texture and overall moistness when the cooking timer ends. Some frozen foods can be easily overcooked and can become drier than you wanted due to the delay/sync feature. Imo, it's easier just to do a quick calculation in your head, and add the faster cooking frozen food to the tray later on while it's still frozen. One more thing... when it states in the cook book to add a little bit of oil to the food before cooking it, you should first put that food in a bowl, add the oil to the food and mix it to help the oil coat it more evenly... then add the food to the cooking tray. Doing it this way helps ensure that the food will come out more evenly cooked/crispy.

Amazing review!! Just got this gifted to my hubby and I. Awesome review. I will br watching more of your videos. I didn't wanna have to read all the instructions lol so thank you for showing how to use the different cooking modes ❤
I am always amazed at people who " didn't wanna have to read all the instructions..." Trying something new and different is always a learning curve, and that entails understanding instructions. In my case I bought a $17.00 Ninja Cookbook (2024) from the big "A" and it includes ALL detailed instructions for EACH recipe. That saved me 27 minutes of video watching.
We just purchased the Ninja Dual Basket Air Fryer from Sam’s Club yesterday. Your video sold me on it. We just cooked frozen chicken bites in it to test it out. What a difference vs microwaving. The chicken was actually crispy. Thanks for the video and thanks for the added touch of humor. I think we are going to be pleased with this air fryer.
HI GUYS, first time watching you I love your review, I've been thinking about buying the ninja air fryer, I've been cooking and baking since I was 12, and now I'm an empty nester and don't cook big family meals too often, only on the big holidays. what I liked about your video was that I didn't have to watch you peel the potatoes and then cut them for the fries, I wouldn't say I like to watch the people do the prep work it takes too much of my time. You were great.
Great info! Thanks for investing the time to make it easy for us 🙏 I did love your dynamic with the camera guy I laughed from beginning to end 😂 Thanks for that!
You need to oil the hand cut fries in a bowl. The whole point is to get them to coated with oil evenly to get that perfect crispness. Your oil fell to the bottom (under the crisper plate) and basically did nothing.
not entirely true. We have Phillips airfryer XL and I am thinking og getting this one. With the Philips you should only use a tablespoon of oil. This makes the fries crispy. It's impossible to dip all the fries in a tablespoon of oil, so you just put in the fries, and then just pour it on top of them. The air fryer will make sure that the fries are covered when it heaths up the oil. If you use anymore oil, you are really not getting the whole idea of using these types of machines.
Great video! Thanks!! Just bought myself one for Christmas. As you stated, it seems the times are increased overall, due to 2 cooking units, compared to my current 1 drawer unit. I'll also need to buy the 'rack' for bacon, which I do all the time and it's PERFECT! Still beats heating up a big 'ole oven. Cheers!
I’m a 46 yrs old man .. i hate cooking.. suck at it and basically never learned. I bought that thing and made delicious shrimps. Took 5 minutes to cook. Was super delicious as well ! Giving me confidence ! Thanks for that great review ;)
I was trying to find an easy to use Air Fryer and you have certainly sold it to me guys. I am going for the Ninja Dual Fryer AF451 that has a temperature probe which may remove the guess work. Cheers.
The thing I find most interesting after this excellent video is that people are more concerned about your head gear than the product you are demonstrating. Most people in premises dealing with food preparation wear a head covering, doesn’t matter what style, I have no doubt the nit pickers would have a field day if you have fairly long hair and did not wear a cap or hat. Anyway an informative and well presented video with attention to the things most people would want to know. Nice children as well, a superb test team for the donuts. I am in the uk and subscribing now,,
Peter. Probably my favourite comment we’ve ever received. I absolutely love it. And couldn’t agree more. Thanks so much for watching and subscribing. Cheers from Canada ! Marc
Just a bit of info for anyone not in the USA, the smart finish is also sync and does exactly the same thing. Holds the second drawer on hold until the time catches up then both drawers finish together. Love mine 😊
I guess one thing people don't mention I own a double air fryer and my experience is it does take longer for food to cook because it shares the wattage. Not like a single air fryer where I used to have fries be done in like 12 minutes at 400°. So that's about the only drawback I see if you're looking for quickness, not the machine for you
I use to have a foodi Grill XL and my fries were done in 8 minutes and perfectly crisp. On this one I have not been able to get crispy fries even with 15 minutes.
I like that he said “he doesn’t pretend to know the ins and out of this device however he does use common sense so that is a good thing. My wife & daughter just purchased me one for my bornday. So nice video bud 💪

Thanks so much for the review I'm in Australia and have been going back and forth on what Air Fryer to buy and whether I should get a dual basket model like this or a single basket..after watching this I am pretty much sure this is the model for me 👍💖
Literally just unpacked one and tried some frozen fries. Time was recommended at around 20 minutes but they were almost burned at that time. They were edible in half that time. I think I am going to like this. Merry Christmas to me!
Great video!!! I just bought one of these in the US from Costco, got it on sale for 120.00. (was 160.00) I was a bit nervous on how to use this but you really helped me out! My boyfriend literally just went to the market to buy wings!! Your sense of humor in the editing is hilarious! You and the boys are super cute!! Thanks & Great job!!
Good video. I JUST got mine delivered today (actually 5 days early!) and am trying to learn a few ins and outs via video instead of so much reading. Something you might try for crispier wings is to mix a couple of tablespoons of baking powder onto your wings before cooking them.
WOW, an hour to cook wings in the end?! I have a Cuisinart air fryer oven and it only takes about 12-15 min to cook full wings. Shoppping for another fryer (gave Cuisionart to a needy friend). This slow cooking time seems like a flaw to me to take note of.
How do you Understand the difference in the 6 Settings? Like What temperature & time should I decide to use for Frozen pre packaged foods because I just gotta Ninja like you have Just Semi-clueless sometimes I have to do Long term
There's no air flow originating from the bottom, however the rack allows air to flow underneath the food. If the parchment paper was under the rack, it shouldn't affect anything. If it's on top of the rack that might negate that air flow. Hope this helps. - J
Re: the auto pause...on my Foodi grill, it depends on what mode is being used. I usually use the air fry mode, which does pause when you lift the lid. I was gilling a steak in grill mode, which did not pause when I opened it to check temp. That thing does a nice job grilling meat.
Congratulations on the fantastic review! Your humor and insights are truly appreciated. After two years, do you still stand by recommending the Ninja Foodi 2-basket 8qt air fryer? For a family of four, would you suggest opting for the 10qt model instead, or are you satisfied with your current one? How has the quality of the unit held up after two years of use? Some users have mentioned issues with the handle chrome finish peeling off. Have you encountered any problems on your end? Your input is greatly valued. Keep up the excellent work!
Thanks so much! I've upgraded to the 2nd generation for the last 18 months or so. My sister now has the original, and it's still being used. In both cases, there's wear and tear for sure but still works great. As for the size, I'd go with the bigger one for sure. Thanks again! - J
Just a quick tip: My mother always used to make biscuit donuts. She didn't use a hole cutter. She just poked a hole in the middle and stretched it out a bit. That way it didn't waste dough and you got an entire biscuit in each donut.
I have this cooker for a while and did not use it much. Thank you for ideas for my kids (my taste is different). Also, you did not mention salt or pepper. Nice looking man, great kids, sarcastic comments at the back. By the way, your kitchen looks exactly the same as ours.
Last night, I cooked the same meal you show in this video. Don't dump the wings or anything you cook with oil on your plate because that dump puts the oil (in the bottom of the fryer below the crisper) on your plate. Instead use rubber or plastic covered thongs to get the wings (or whatever) out of the basket and put that on your plate.
I like the style of the double draw Ninja air fryer - It will probably be my fourth air fryer (next one) - Times are always a hit and miss dependent on personal taste and all cooking conditions involved.
Layering is ok as long as you shake the basket enough to even put the cooking. Size will depend on how many people you cook for, or how much food you cook at a time. Hope this helps! - J
@@TheAverageKitchendo you have to cook longer? i got the 8 quarts and my brussel sprouts weren’t very crispy but i shaked every 5 min! only cooking for 2 but I like meal prepping thanks for your help 🙏🏽
Hey thanks for the comment. “Mere minutes” would be impossible. However. There are several factors. 1. The volume of food your cooking 2. How well done you like your food, extra crispy wings or fries. 3. Power consumption is much lower with an air fryer vs a standard oven. Thanks for watching. Marc
I have the same airfryer..it cooks wings in 20 minutes and fries in 18 to 20 minutes.. I love this fryer. Maybe the US model is not as powerful because of the 110 volt while here in NZ it is 220 volt
Oh interesting point on the voltage ! Thanks for the insight ! I’ve never been to NZ , it’s on my travel list ! So beautiful there !! Cheers from Canada 🇨🇦. Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen hi mark .I would wait with coming to NZ till we got rid of that globalist prime minister of ours . She single handed screwed this country over . A bit what Biden is doing to the US
I’ve just bought this I do like it but I find it more for frozen food or simple food I use the gas hob for sauces pasta chilli etc so probs is wasted on me
Just bought my 10qt ninja for 117 at kohl's with 35 percent of hell of a deal ya need to go get one their if ya looking to buy this product plus the gave me 30 dollars of kohls cash so basically I'm paying like 90.00 for it dont miss out on this deal
Thanks very much for this video, you helped me decide that this air fryer is not quite the right one for me. I feel like it takes too long to cook compared to some other air fryers I've had. I think that may have something to do with the double sided cooking. Great video. Thanks! Ps:super jealous of all the yummy food you guys got to eat!!
@@cgurl haha I actually changed my mind and just bought one from Costco, figured I couldn't go wrong with their return policy just in case! I actually really like it so far, it really shocked me how fast it cooked lol. I was expecting super slow. lol. I think I will keep it. Super easy to wash too!
@@Captain_Spaulding haha!! I was going to purchase mine at Costco but I realized they sold the 4 in 1 and I wanted the 6 in 1 so I went with Walmart instead! But yeah I’m pretty impressed with it. I think I’m going to order some racks so I can maximize the cooking space in each section!
By the time from basket 1 goes and match basket 2, where did you put the frozen fries will defrost a bit (with the little heat from the neighbour basket) I have a feeling would need less time for the fries at that point
But maybe you meant how to convert the F to C on the machine? Well, you can't; it is either one or the other depending where in the world it was purchased. Conversion must be done by yourself.
That was great. Thank you so much. Pretty much sold me on this. I had a t-fal old style, the one with the oval donut non-stick pan with a stirring stick that spun around. It worked fine, but as I was cleaning it the plastic stir stick thing broke when i dropped it lol. I wondered about the baskets, I thought that the food wouldn't cook through since there was nothing to mix it. So you'd probably have to shake it often I would imagine.
I also had an old style Tefal that rotated and the food hit a bar that was supposed to turn the food at every rotation. It was useless as chips (fries) would all bunch up and you could not cook soft fish as this would break at the first rotation.. I have now bought a two drawer fryer made in China and badged as Milex. I think it is probably made in the same factory as the Ninja and just badged to suit the local market. Two drawers are far better. I use mine at least once a day and can cook a full English breakfast in it. Great view boys.

Thanks for the great compliment! Enjoy the wings and less us know how they turn out! - J
Awesome ! Great comment. Appreciate the kind words ! Marc

Good video, thanks. Now to try mine.
Let us know how it goes! - J
Good video. I JUST got mine delivered today (actually 5 days early!) and am trying to learn a few ins and outs via video instead of so much reading. Something you might try for crispier wings is to mix a couple of tablespoons of baking powder onto your wings before cooking them.
Awesome ! Thanks for watching the video. Great tip on the wings. I’ll def try that ! Cheers !! Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen You're welcome!
I would substitute corn starch instead of baking powder. It does the crisping job better yet.
Very useful and pleasant to watch!!
Thanks so much! - J
WOW, an hour to cook wings in the end?! I have a Cuisinart air fryer oven and it only takes about 12-15 min to cook full wings. Shoppping for another fryer (gave Cuisionart to a needy friend). This slow cooking time seems like a flaw to me to take note of.
Thanks for watching and the comment ! Marc
I think it’s taking longer to cook cause he’s stacking the food on top of each
How else would you do it in a basket like that? - J
@@ybarnes94 I agree. Putting too much in there or a large amount will do that
I cook in bulk quantities........ probably go for this.....
Great review bro! Loved it. Just bought one and was looking for advice.
You're funny too. Nice kids, hope they love your Ninja cooking!
Thanks so much for the wonderful comment !! Marc
Bought one for my mom for Christmas she's gonna love this!
Great gift! Thanks so much for watching! - J
How do you Understand the difference in the 6 Settings? Like What temperature & time should I decide to use for Frozen pre packaged foods because I just gotta Ninja like you have Just Semi-clueless sometimes I have to do Long term
Ninja provides a book with suggested cool times and cook settings. Marc
This video was fantastic! I appreciate the amount of time you took to prepare such an extensive review.
Thank you very much for the great comment and watching ! Marc
Can you make hamburgers in this??
You could yes. You could fit 2 per basket, or 4 smaller ones. It wouldn't have the same effect as a grill though. - J
😂😂 great video, it made me laugh a few times 😂❤
Haha thanks! - J
@TheAverageKitchen Just bought this Air Fryer today, going to give it a try tomorrow, can't wait!
That was a really good review! If you put parchment paper in your basket you don’t have to clean it after.
Great tip thanks ! Marc
Quick question on parchment paper…does it stop the air flow from the bottom coming up?
There's no air flow originating from the bottom, however the rack allows air to flow underneath the food. If the parchment paper was under the rack, it shouldn't affect anything. If it's on top of the rack that might negate that air flow. Hope this helps. - J
@@TheAverageKitchen yes, thank you!!…I don’t have a rack, only the bottom plate, so I’ll cut the paper smaller than the plate.
Could you please try to do different baking ideas? Thank you
Thank you for the fantastic review love you tasting the food too and I actually watched all of it.
Thank you we appreciate it! - J
If you want the wings super crispy Gotta single layer them instead of piling them on top of each other. Will def limit the amount you can cook tho
Great point. I agree. Marc
As I said elsewhere, there is a learning curve with an air fryer, and some people need more time to learn than others.
Re: the auto pause...on my Foodi grill, it depends on what mode is being used.
I usually use the air fry mode, which does pause when you lift the lid.
I was gilling a steak in grill mode, which did not pause when I opened it to check temp. That thing does a nice job grilling meat.
Do you mean the indoor grill or this 2 basket air fryer? - J
Any recipe that calls for 390 I bump up to 400 for the same amount of time. Turn out much crispier.
Great tip thanks! - J
Great review, think you've convinced me into buying one.
Loved the belly wabble!
😆😆
Regards from Wales, uk
Cheers !! Thanks so much !! Marc
Just got mine…munchies bout to be on tilt😩💨
Hahaha enjoy ! Marc
@@TheAverageKitchen Thank you for responding so quickly! I appreciate your recommendations, and I'll be placing an order soon!
Glad we could help! - J
Thank you for doing this. You straight forward information is really appreciated.
Glad we could help! Thanks for watching! - J
It helps me guide how to used the ni nja air fryer

Just a quick tip: My mother always used to make biscuit donuts. She didn't use a hole cutter. She just poked a hole in the middle and stretched it out a bit. That way it didn't waste dough and you got an entire biscuit in each donut.
Great tip, thanks! - J
@@TheAverageKitchenCanadians call them timbits and trust me none go to waste. Can’t wait to try those
I have this cooker for a while and did not use it much. Thank you for ideas for my kids (my taste is different). Also, you did not mention salt or pepper. Nice looking man, great kids, sarcastic comments at the back. By the way, your kitchen looks exactly the same as ours.
Haha thanks for the great comment! - J
I hate reading directions... and I hate cooking.. that's why I bought this... so thank you for this video. 😁
Haha glad we could help! Thanks for watching! - J
I HATE directions too ! Cheers ! Marc
Lol😂🎉
Don't complain when foods don't cook the way you expect, then. There is a learning curve with this appliance.
@@TheAverageKitchen
And if you didn't read the instructions either, why make a review video? That doesn't come across as encouraging.
Thanks for the info
.greatly appreciated ❤❤
Thanks for watching! - J
Toss the wings in Baking Powder and they will come out crispy without having to overcook
Awesome tip ! I’m def gonna try that ! Thanks. Marc
Thanks for more info.. Our stove went out and waiting for it to get fixed. Now I'm cooking in this and a crock pot.
Ah sorry to hear that ! Hopefully this works well for you ! Marc
Great tip ! Thanks for watching. Marc.
Put the wings in a basket. It will remove the fat and excess oil, which is the whole point of buying the air fryer! 👍😎
@@davidthompson3136
Agreed! It is an AIR fryer, not an oil fryer.
Nice to see you using fresh food for a change because most videos only do processed. 👍🏻
Thanks for watching! - J
55 minutes for wings? Doesn’t that defeat the purpose? My current air fryer does them in about 18-20.
Hey there. Depends on several factors, size of the wings, volume of wings and the desired crispy ness. Thanks for the comment. Cheers. Marc
Can only imagine how much longer if they were frozen to start
Which one you have ?
We just bought this same Ninji Foodi 2 Basket Air Fryer. We are super happy with it. In Abbotsford, B.C. Canada
Awesome ! Thanks for the comment ! 🇨🇦🇨🇦🇨🇦. Marc
I like the style of the double draw Ninja air fryer - It will probably be my fourth air fryer (next one) - Times are always a hit and miss dependent on personal taste and all cooking conditions involved.
You're absolutely right! - J
should i go with the 10 quartz size vs 8 if i want to roast veggies or bigger pieces of chicken at the same time or is layering okay? thanks!
Layering is ok as long as you shake the basket enough to even put the cooking. Size will depend on how many people you cook for, or how much food you cook at a time. Hope this helps! - J
@@TheAverageKitchendo you have to cook longer? i got the 8 quarts and my brussel sprouts weren’t very crispy but i shaked every 5 min! only cooking for 2 but I like meal prepping
thanks for your help 🙏🏽
The more food that's in the basket, the longer you'd have to cook it generally. - J
43 minutes for chicken wings, and 28 minutes for fries??? I thought air fryers cooked these products in mere minutes, not in many, many minutes.
A bit what Biden is doing to the US
Hahaha ok. Good to know. Thanks !!
I’ve just bought this I do like it but I find it more for frozen food or simple food I use the gas hob for sauces pasta chilli etc so probs is wasted on me
We're the same, nothing overly complicated in the air fryer. Although, try the doughnuts we made. They're delicious.... Thanks for watching! - J
Just bought my 10qt ninja for 117 at kohl's with 35 percent of hell of a deal ya need to go get one their if ya looking to buy this product plus the gave me 30 dollars of kohls cash so basically I'm paying like 90.00 for it dont miss out on this deal
That's an awesome deal for sure! - J
Same here💚
Awesome ! Marc
Great review and very informative. Good examples given to highlight the versatility. 🙂
Thanks very much. Appreciate the great feedback !! Marc
Thanks for much for this amazing comment. Our goal is to have the integrity to give an honest unbiased review. Cheers. Marc
I just purchased this air fryer and the food cooks FASSST
Good thinkin' : ) Just curious what's the difference between the 4 in 1 and the 6 in 1? I was having trouble finding that info online. Thanks!!
Waiting on delivery. Purchased the dz550 2022. Great review. I think no buyers remorse on this.
Awesome. Let us know how u like it ! Marc
The bloody thing is hard to clean; baskets are easy, but the grill is a nightmare!
Thanks for the comment! - J
By the time from basket 1 goes and match basket 2, where did you put the frozen fries will defrost a bit (with the little heat from the neighbour basket) I have a feeling would need less time for the fries at that point
You're probably right. That goes back to learning times specific to your desired level of doneness. Thanks for watching! - J

We love that you watched it !! Cheers. Marc
Thanks a lot for the demo! Can you please, explain how to change from Fahrenheit to Celsius ?
Thanks so much. I’m really not sure, maybe ninja would be able to answer that one. Marc
You can convert by googling the numbers. Example: what is 212° F in Celsius? Google will answer, 100° C.
But maybe you meant how to convert the F to C on the machine? Well, you can't; it is either one or the other depending where in the world it was purchased. Conversion must be done by yourself.
@@aloisius4188 Thank you, that seems to be the case.
Thanks bro I’m getting in in UK, love to Canada 🇨🇦
🤙🏼🤙🏼
That was great. Thank you so much. Pretty much sold me on this. I had a t-fal old style, the one with the oval donut non-stick pan with a stirring stick that spun around. It worked fine, but as I was cleaning it the plastic stir stick thing broke when i dropped it lol. I wondered about the baskets, I thought that the food wouldn't cook through since there was nothing to mix it. So you'd probably have to shake it often I would imagine.
Thanks do much for watching and the comment. Cheers. Marc
That's awesome! - J
