It's even worse when you take a moment and remember that the cartoon's original creator is dead. Yet, people still pull shit. Don't get me wrong, I love eddsworld. It's helped me bond with friends. It holds a special place in my heart. It's just that some of the people in it don't know when to fucking stop. I've seen people on the brink of mental breakdowns and self-harm because of the shit people fight and bicker over. Like, mother of ever loving macaroni fucking stop it, please
@@rainykitty6542 I think that was the guy that played Tord. I remember hearing something about him just completing going off the grid. I believe it was because of all the fangirls/boys? ┐( ˘ 、 ˘ )┌
@@joshuakorynta3385 Thanks. The whole image is him holding a gun with the caption "you better delete that or else we'll have ourselves a happy little accident"
I love Steven Universe too, and I also think the fandom is terrible. Full of SJWs who ignore the fact that the show is literally about equality and treating each other with love and respect.
One of the most toxic fandoms I've seen (in recent times) is the Voltron fandom. Some of those people are completely brutal and entitled. So many death threats and other insulting stuff have been sent to the show's creators from these so-called "fans."
Also the Steven universe gotten to be bad.Never knew that the show I start to like had a fanbase that almost killed one artist and harassed the CREATORS of the show.
I love Voltron so much and the fandom kills it for me. I know I shouldn’t let the fandom influence my love for the show but..... it’s getting to the point whenever I log onto any social media there’s always something going on with the fans harassing some of the show creators..... it’s annoying lol
Tumblr makes fandoms nasty. Seriously. Tumblrinas are out there DEATH THREATENING the writers of Voltron because of DreamWorks. Twitter, too. Like damn, guys, chill.
Did you know that some of the staff of the new She-Ra cartoon were part of the whole "giving death threats" to the Voltron people and completely advocated for them. It's messed up.
To be honest, the Voltron fandom has gotten so terrible, to the point of causing someone mental harm and threatening them over a AU. Don't get me wrong I know good people in that fandom, but there's too many rotten people there that it'd be a good idea to avoid it
One of my friends even got harassed all cuz she drew amethyst skinny but the reason why is cuz she still found it hard in drawing bigger bodies, she was still new in drawing SU fanart. It's just stupid how these people think that death threatening someone over a piece of fanart is ok 😒
As someone in the creepypasta, Fnaf, homestuck, and ubdertale fandom at some point, I am harassed for liking what I like. Mainly because of the toxic people that reside in the fandom or bad images caused by some fans
Yeah people say the FNaF fandom is bad, which i am in, it has it's bad side but some people make really good art! I like making art for that game but people said the fandom is one of the worst. I think it's okay, just the people who make that stuff are really bad. I remember how people would flip out over Mangle's gender or Puppets, so scott changed Mangle to an it cause he was tired.
As an active member of the undertale fandom, I can unfortunately agree. I tell people I’m in this fandom, they usually think I’m a sans fan girl or something. Some people in our fandom really ruin it for everyone else.
Yeah, As a fan of Homestuck my one friend keeps associating me with that one incident with the "Bucket spitting" video and I'm like: I would not ever do that because that is really gross and I'm also actually a germaphobe too??? Ugh. I hate that he keeps saying that to me. And he keeps saying like: "I know nothing of Homestuck except that" and I'm just hella annoyed.
Oyyyy, the Creepypasta fandom. Which I'm still in, mind. The preteen fangirls as a whole aren't the bad part, believe it or not. It's the people who oversaturate the Creepypasta websites with godawful stories, the weirdo purists who blow up at people for depicting the fan-favorites as acting like the humans that they are/once were instead of mindless killing machines, the garden-variety Tumblr nuts that every fandom has, and the overzealous headcanon police who demand that you adopt their interpretation of a character or stop interpreting a character in a way that they don't like (see also: the Sally Williams controversy) that are the bad part.
@xXSkellyXx Another FNaF fan here, Yes I agree that there are always gonna be rotten apples and spoiled tomatoes around and about. Around at my place, it has sadly become a stereotype that if you like scary stuff and haunting, your'e depressed which is so NOT true. Being in FNaF has brought me a lot of joy throughout the years.
Me, currently in the cookie run fandom, which i decide to bring up cause wowie cherry cookie is in the thumbnail but, some of these are definitely in there. Especially when it comes to lgbtq and skin color art and headcanons. People go batshit if you make this character white or this character "cishet" it's kinda- no- it IS dumb and honestly, I'm kinda sad to see Cookie Run, a harmless mobile game with addictive gameplay and awesome character designs be brought in a bad light because of people trying so hard to force minority talk into everything.
I've sadly experienced this. Tbh i thought the fandom was gOOD?? This is basically my experience, but ive just met a lot of rude and ego people in the fandom (cough cough especially with ships), which just full on made me go away from the fandom. I guess this was just a mini rant?? HhHH that's all I gotta say
I can't agree more, and the thing that pisses me off the most is the harassment over ships and fanart also, thanks for featuring me at the end, glad you liked the fanart
I was a part of the Steven universe fandom for all of two weeks. I had a gemsona that was a sapphire but, I don't have the body shape of Cannon Sapphire, so I used amethyst as a reference for my gemsonas body shape because it's more accurate to my body shape and I went to go role play with a couple of people on a Steven universe role-playing page on Facebook and I got harassed and bullied mercilessly because my gemsona wasn't up to Cannon standards, I also gave my Sapphire character a different personality from the normal graceful and calm Sapphire that we have seen, I gave her more of an amethyst personality because that's who, I am and I got so many people telling me to kill myself because my character wasn't meeting the shows Canon personality traits of the gem I had chosen. I only chose a sapphire because it's my birthstone but I'm not graceful, I'm not elegant, I'm loud and I'm crude and kind of rude and I'm Goofy and tough like amethyst I honestly don't know what I expected from the Steven universe fandom, I mean just because I was treated horribly by the other fans doesn't mean, I'm going to stop watching Steven universe. I still love watching Steven universe and I still love buying the merchandise. I'm just not going to consider myself as part of that fantom anymore. like if one of my friends were to bring up the show in a conversation sure we would talk about it but that would be it.
I'm in the twenty one pilots "clique" (fandom) and I like to keep to the memeish side, yknow the side that just have fun and don't harass people. Well. The other side has people faking suicide, mental illness, loooots of gatekeeping, "fake fans" and shipping(oof). It's disgusting and honestly disappointing for a band based around stopping bullying and raising awareness on mental health issues.
I love TØP, they saved my life and I’m seeing them in July. But the fandom has gone completely off the deep end. I wish it wasn’t like this because the whole message they spread is to bring people together to help fight their Blurryface (or I guess now their bishops). I can’t stand Joshler, even though I know it started as a meme. Some people just take things too far.
I'm not in the fanbase myself, but they do have some very good songs that I just genuinely enjoy. That's all. I don't see why we can never just enjoy something together without being a "true fan".
Late to the party, but I have to be honest, I get worried about the CR fandom at times and I’m really sorry if you experienced something pretty bad in it. D: Some of these points direct my thoughts to certain people I’ve met and what had past gone down in the community and personally, I feel like I have to tread carefully in it at times and not say/do the wrong thing because I REALLY don’t want to anger the wrong people. I don’t even feel that comfortable giving my honest thoughts/opinions over anything remotely sensitive in fear that it might spark drama with someone or some people. No fandom’s perfect, and that this one’s not as *bad as others mentioned, but the things I’ve heard/seen in a fandom about a mobile game of running pastries makes me kinda sad. But, yeah, not everyone’s a bad egg, it’s just the worst having the most loudest voice/noise.
Let's list the terrible fandoms, I'll start. Homestuck Bnha Voltron Try to reply with terrible fandoms, any medium counts! Edit: Surprised no one mentioned K-pop yet. EDIT NUMBAH 2: No mention of a whole lot of anime besides BNHA? I mean there’s a few such as parts of demon slayer (despite the fan animations being amazing), and others such as cringe weebs and people who can’t keep their fetishes to themselves (remember that real life Yandere girl situation? Gross) Edit number 3: Damn still getting comments to this day huh? I appreciate y’all participating on this
To quote Soundsmith, "Not everyone falls under a certain stereotype, there are always acceptions. But there are reasons for those stereotypes existing."
There is a difference between FANDOM and FANBASE. Fanbase is a collection of loyal customers and people who love your work. Fandom is a collection of mentally ill loons who try to take over the fanbase or Original work and do so and act in the way Zi-Zi lays outhere in this video.
I do want to point out that the majority of people who ruin fandoms aren't mentally ill. Those people who are toxic more often than not are just spoiled rotten assholes, without any sort of issues. It's pretty insulting to lump people who have a mental illness with them, because the lot of us actually have the decency to treat others with respect. Sure we're not perfect, but most people with mental illnesses aren't assholes (some can though). This is coming from an individual who has a mental illness themselves, not associated with any fandom.
@@ven1as530 you misinterpret my jab. I am not insulting the mentally ill, but instead inulting relatively functional humans in control of their own mental faculties by comparing their behaviour and thought processes to those who are ill. As only one with mental illness can be absolved of their mentally ill behaviour. This should not have to be explained
@@ven1as530 Mental illness isn't the problem from the toxic fandoms, it's basically part of that agenda. Do you really think a person with autism is a bad guy who threatened someone who adored the work of fiction? Not really but it depends on one person or another who has it (or most likely faking it). The truth about how the fandoms become a threat to a work of fiction is because of terrible people. No signs of agenda or any excuse, it's just miserable people with pathetic excuse to harm anyone.
How to tell that a fandom is toxic: -Ship Problems -Fanart mistake -Different opinions on each character -Sending death threats to the voice actor -Tryna find smth to argue abt -Bombing hate comment -Some garbage ppl like Miss Zi Zi said
*Please read all before commenting!* That sounds 100% the: MHA fandom Fanf fandom Spongebob (Its now tamer then it used to be) Poppy playtime (I think its somewhat tame but there still major issues) It's mostly the main problem in the fandoms I mentioned is the shipping problem also the pedo ship problems And the Victim X Bully ship problems that most people ignore (basically the ones who ship them) also the amount of bullying that goes on if you dislike or disagree with a ship like for me I personally dislike the (Deku x Bakugo) (Michael x Ennard) and (Spongebob x Squidward) (Ps the last one is very concerning cause spongebob was the main reason squidward had depression idk if they still have that in newer seasons tho cause currently I dont have access to the newer seasons) But i think the newest fandom that had a bunch of problems was the Encanto one like a whole lot of mess was happening there... the Poppy playtime fandom still has some big problems like 1 still not getting over the fact that Huggy Wuggy and kissy missy are a confirmed couple/better halves (Also why does everyone assume if your the opposite color of someone your instantly siblings?) 2 I think theres some type of fandom war going on about theorys and other people pushing there own head cannons onto others or something similar So yeah that's all the fandoms ik that have a bunch of problems (this comment wasn't trying to be rude or offensive but I was just spreading information) *Sincerely Mousey*
I think the relentless memes have been sacking the crap out of it. There's certainly batshit crazy elements out there, but I feel like it's very small, and been pushed to the limelight by shitposters. It's been pretty quiet lately though. I don't consider Ugandan Knuckles to even be a product of it. It's more a VR Chat meme than a Sonic meme.
I’m honestly ashamed to like K-POP JUST because of the fans, I’m not a crazy fan or anything, but I enjoy the music some idols produce, therefore I get embarrassed for being attached with the psycho fans. Same with Voltron. The show was originally about paladins who are trying to save the universe and go through hardships together but make it through everything in the end, but now it’s all about ships that we know will never happen, now that it’s over, and it’s all about being gay. I’m lgbt myself, but don’t make a whole show that is not dedicated to sexuality ABOUT sexuality. It’s a show about space and such. Don’t make it what it’s not. And don’t send the voice actors death threats just because klance or shadam isn’t canon, they don’t write what happens, they just voice their character. There’s a lot more to say but ohhhh my godddd
from my experience in fandoms known as toxic: -vocaloid: super nice, great memes and shitposts and AMAAAZING songs -Genshin Impact: one of the best communitys I've been in, everyone is nice -UNDERTALE: I remember there being cringe amounts of e d g y but some of the like multiverse animations were really good -Danganronpa: i hate this place, get me out of here
Same story for the musical theatre fandom. I sincerely hope it gets better, because there are parts of the fandom that are actually pretty chill, and I love the music. I hope it doesn't get worse...
I’ve been in the undertale fandom for a year and a half now, so I completely understand why it’s on the list of trashy fandoms. The reason I feel in love with undertale was because of the outside of the box thinking when it came to design and characters. I felt comfort from it when in my darkest moments. But some of the trashy fan girls and porn of the characters cause a lot of people to think that the entire fandom is horrible. In the past, I’ve told people I am a fan of undertale and most of them never looked at me the same way again. Although on the other hand, I introduced undertale to my closest friend and she also fell in love with it. But the nice people who are in the undertale fandom like me and my friend don’t get a chance to enjoy it because we are in a “trashy fandom”. Our fandom has been doing a little bit better, since a lot of the crazy yandere sans fan girls have stopped showing up or grew and matured and embarrassed with their sans obsession, but we still have some problems, and because of them, we are still what people call a terrible fandom, so yeah. -.-
Well for some small, but vocal parts of a fandom, they won’t just like a certain character, they’ll BE that certain character and if you give even an ounce of criticism towards that character, they’ll feel personally insulted and throw all of the ‘phobics’ at you.
I remember a time when both the Undertale fandom (which I am a proud member of) and the FNAF fandom teamed up just to harass an innocent developer for trying to create a Five Nights at Undertale game, forcing them to cancel the whole project; truly the darkest moment for both fandoms As for the My Little Pony fandom, I think their darkest point may have either been when a bunch of them started sending death threats to one of the show writers for writing Pinkie Pie out of character in one episode, or when a small group of them basically started a cyber bullying mob to go after one of their own just for not being the best director for a fan project... while she spent *months* fighting some illness that wouldn't go away.
tbh the moomin fandom is very chill and wholesome everyone is very supportive and sweet, and actually let you voice your opinion i highly suggest joining it :)
In 2016 the voltron fandom drove me to self harm and nearly doing something terrible, so sadly not an exaggeration. Ironically I wasn't even really in the fandom, I was on tumblr. Truly the worst tactics is bringing up serious real life topics constantly and making the victim feel like they're to blame.
Chaotic Neutral *TW: Self-harm, bad thoughts, bad people, cursing* I’m here, man. If you ever need to talk. In 2017/2018 I nearly killed myself and nearly got kidnapped by a human trafficker from the voltron fandom. We survived to tell the tale. We should be the *_proudest_* people out there. I’ve got your back. Whatever bullshit label you are, as a fellow _human,_ I’ve got your back.
Good vid zi. Next time though I would suggest not putting something like skull girls in the background. It makes people lose focus over what you want the pay attention to since the thing they're suppose to pay attention to is moving much slower and isn't moving all across the screen. Next maybe use a sill coloured background, a slowly moving background thats just a pattern repeating it self, or try to make your avatar move quicker then whats in the background (which is pretty hard when your background is a game like skullgirls). Over all though good video and keep doing what you do.
You’re right. Every fandom has toxicity. Hamilton- Both (some) Lams shippers and Lams antis are toxic to each other. Voltron- Klance shippers can be toxic (not all, but some) Invader Zim- People who ship ZaDr and don’t age up Zim and Dib. Or sometimes just Dib. I’ve seen people say that Zim is 160 in Earth years and Dib is 16 and they make them kiss and stuff. PLEASE age characters up to the rightful ages. Kpop- there’s too much to even say I- Anime- Not aging characters up and shipping very abusive things Gravity Falls- So. Much. Incest. Makes me wanna boil my eyes. Hazbin Hotel- People who get angry when someone ships Alastor with someone. Like, yeah, he’s asexual, but that doesn’t mean he’s aromatic. Honestly there’s a lot more but these are fandoms I’ve been in before. And, I’m currently in Invader Zim and Hazbin, but there are people in the fanbase who bug me.
Not to seem stinky but Viv said he was Aro but it's fine if people ship him with other characters as long as it isn't harming anyone What do people do? Be stinky and argue over stupid things like that
*After rereading this i realized i sounded aggressive, that wasn't my intention, so sorby :,( ZIM IS NOT CANONICALLY 160, This is just a headcanon made up by fans that people choose to follow! I'm not saying people cannot see him as 160 years old, but it's NOT canon! Jhonen specifically stated on his Twitter, HE doesn't even know how old ZIM is supposed to be. It all depends on how a person portrays them for whether it's weird or not. But yes, SOME of the shippers are still strange sometimes, and often draw the characters very ooc and portray them questionably. But other than that, it's not as bad as the CR, Genshin, Danganronpa, ETC. fandoms.
@@BANDITmanufacturer yeye, I agree with you. Personally I hc him as 11 or 12 in the show, and 13 in the movie. I’m not as big into IZ as I was when I made this comment but I still do ship ZaDr.
Coincidentally enough, I found this as one of the first videos when looking up cookie run (despite the video not mentioning it). And I think that you made a lot of good points. I wasn't even aware that such a simple and cute game could have such a toxic fandom though.
i remember hearing a story about the voltron fandom about how someone took a tour to the studio voltron was being produced in. the person that took the tour took photos of spoilerish storyboards and posted them on twitter. the studio asked the person to take the photos down, but the person said they would only do so if they made one of their ships canon in voltron, which was klance (the shipping between keith and lance)
Someone who's slowly getting back into fnaf here, I remember when I had this oc who I shipped with Lefty. Then I saw someone else shipping their oc with lefty, and I commented "Cute! I also have an oc who I shipped with lefty!" She got really weird, she made a drawing of her main oc hanging herself in her room, and pictures of lefty being drawn over with blood. The post was captioned "I found out Lefty was cheating on me with someone else's oc". • Chill, you don't have to pretend to kill yourself because a character from a game is "cheating" on you with the oc I had back then.
In my opinion the Sonic fandom is actually one of the least bad fandoms, because it doesn't have anything that makes it stand out among other fandoms like BTS, Undertale and Steven Universe.
When most people hear the word undertale they either think 1. What the heck is undertale 2. Oh that toxic fandom I love undertale and the way the game thinks outside the box by just design and by the characters. Because of the garbage people in our fandom, the ones like me are thought of as trashy. I feel the characters of undertale as friends and understand their stories because of my genuine love of the game itself. The undertale fandom has been doing a little better than it did in the past, but most people just assume their garbage. So yeah.
A lot of people are shitting on the undertale fandom, but I was welcomed when I joined and people shared interests with each other. I know there has been a lot of shit in the fandom but it’s a really good fandom in my opinion.
My only problem with the undertale fandom is they treat the game likes its the second coming of Christ and when I point out flaws in the game they just reply that I "just don't understand the deep game". Oh and they think Sans/Chara is invincible and can beat anybody else in a cross over.
@@bigblue344 Undertale fan here. I'm sick of everyone's massive boner over Sans too, and I know I'm not the only one. It's been going strong for like 3 years, you think someone would've called a doctor by now.
I feel bad for the creators of these fandoms. They just wanna just wanna make a game/a show/a book/media that people can enjoy. Anyone else? P. S this is the longest comment I've ever written.
Most of the time the toxic side of the fandom is the loud minority who are chronically online and basically live the fandom. The reason why you see so much negative is because of the fact that they both attract more media attention and they are just more active on the internet social sphere- while the good majority usually have lives to attend to.
I habe had my bad run ins with bad people in fandoms, like one run in I had with a certain person in the fire emblem fandom, long story short, she was able to dish out critism(sometimes it's just insults) but she is highly incapable of taking critism. And heck even one member of the skullgirls fandom called me out for a different opinion(and said opinion had nothing to do with skullgirls)
(from season 3) Rick and Morty, Steven Universe wich also falls under the category of "identity politics", FNAF, Voltron (i don't think it's that bad but it is kinda meh)...
@Marika Staňková idk man, it's actually pretty accurate aside from a few minor details. The characters are eeeh though. Really the songs are the only thing I come for.
As someone in the Cookie Run fandom, I see how bad it can be, and these people are quite the bother, if you don’t have good moderation for a subreddit or something similar. And I hate to say it to the fans, but most Genshin Impact players are almost everything on the list from the people I’ve met. They try dragging you down just because you don’t find interest, and if anything’s wrong with whatever else, they harass you for that, too. Another thing that bothers me is people trying to 1-Up the other fandom, like the whole debate between, you guessed it, Genshin Impact and Cookie Run (Specifically kingdoms), but can we both agree that both games have strange storylines? Just because they’re cookies fighting a force of evil doesn’t mean a brother or sister trying to find their sibling makes any more sense. Both game storylines are confusing to me. Rant over, just saying, you make good points on these things. ❤
I feel like what’s considered as “cringe content” doesn’t make a fandom bad, it just shows that there are people in the fandom that like certain things. What makes a fandom good or bad is the amount of: 1: positivity 2. Welcoming people 3.safety : (meaning how often can you be safe from people who can hurt you) 4. Maturity/acceptance of ones ideas 5: how often would they ban wagon attack people. What will make a fandom toxic from the start: 1. Age demographic: I’ve noticed that a lot of fandoms with younger audiences tend to not be mature enough to deal with the opinions of others or are just terrible. 2: everyone’s beliefs: what kind of people does your content attract? Example: It’s obvious that Steven universe attracts people who are very liberal about cultural and identity problems. I can’t think of anything else to add but feel free to add to the list
In most fandoms there’s the main 4 sides. 1. The Shit Bullys/The Toxic 2. The Ones Who Just Enjoy The Game 3. The Innocent and last but not least, 4. The Cool Ones. (basically anyone who doesn’t force ships, isn’t toxic, and is basically the good side.)
The one fandom that destroyed me was the eddsworld fandom. In my short time in the eddsworld fandom I was harassed on amino (through pm) by someone because they wanted me to draw tomtord and being the stupid 11 year old I was 2 years ago, I unfortunately gave in to the harassment and drew it because I wanted them to leave me alone because when I would come home from school I would see a bunch of unread messages on amino.
Yeah, I've seen people try to gatekeep characters, CHARACTERS. I mean your welcome to love a character, but I'm sorry Star_loves_Bakugo93 he's not your "uwu angry bean". He's a fictional character, other people can and will love the character.
It's sad to see fandoms that were once great fall into the deep pits of hell, a big one for me is that FNaF fandom, but luckily it's starting to look like people in the fandom are growing up and not being little sh*ts anymore. And also I will admit I've had my cringy phase (everyone had that phase at some point in their life, no one is safe from the cringy phase, no one.
THANK YOU!!! it's definitely individuals that can be shitty, but yeah some fandoms have way more bad individuals. i'm pretty disgusted with the situations that have led to s**cide, especially in fandoms that have always seemed kind and pleasant. overall, i wish people could just enjoy what they enjoy and not harass other people unless their ideas and actions are problematic (disturbing ships, threatening creators, doxxing, etc.)
Ik this was posted 3 years ago but I just found this channel and I’m LOVING YOUR VIDS- also love how you explain things. That being said, this video hit all the points of the Hetalia fandom. Oh my fucking god, it’s so accurate, it’s scary. And sure, I love the show to bits, but the things I’ve seen as a veteran Hetalian are horrendous. A major heta-RUclipsr literally got hate for doing absolutely nothing wrong, she explained herself, and looking at the comment section made me feel sick. It got so bad that she ended up having to change her username so she wouldn’t get harassed any longer. She has a discord and I found out about someone bitching about her behind her back *months* later. I couldn’t even vent about it in the vent channel, we can’t mention anything remotely related or she’ll be traumatized. Like……it was crazy to think that it had gotten this bad. But that’s not the worst I’ve seen….. our fandom up until 2021 was considered….dead. Until the impossible happened….our dear author of the manga, Hidekaz Himaruya, announced a season 7 was under way. Season 7 used to be a joke, a meme in our fandom, but it actually finally happened. And then Twitter became a mess. Fans of other shows, who were probably in just as toxic fandoms as we were, harassed innocent Hetalia fans, and, disgustingly, a lot of ppl were harassed to the point of suicide. I was…shocked, to say the least. You can hate the show, I don’t really give a fuck, to be honest. But don’t go around harassing ppl until they want to die. That’s probably the lowest level of scumbag a person can go. I’m tired of people seeing our fandom as bad, I want us to be known as funny, and bubbling, warm and opening. I’ve met so many new friends and only like 2% of fans are horrible people. To any Hetalians reading this, who have made it this far, I’m proud of you. Stay awesome, like Prussia. Let’s toast with our boots and celebrate who we are. We can be a good fandom. But we have to work together to make it happen. Until then, pastaaaa!
So annoying, the danganronpa fandom isn't so bad, but the shippers are insane. I make OCxCannon stuff (you can say it's cringy but it's something I enjoy and have been working on for over a year) and sooo many hajimexnagito shoppers have insulted me and it sucks man. I avoid the fandom on things tbh, just sucks overall
Toxic Fandoms that I've been in/are still in -Hetalia (still in) -Harry Potter (still in) -Black Butler (still in) -Attack On Titan (still in) -Warriors (left) -Undertale (was in for like, 3 minutes) -Death Note (left) -Five Nights At Freddie's (left) -Creepypasta (still in) -K-pop (still in) -Mystic Messenger (still in) -Vocaloid (left) And a few more. Mainly it's just the annoying and very..ahem..how to put this.... *VOCAL* ...fujoshis that chase me out of a fandom. Don't get me wrong, I love some good yaoi and am a bit of a fujo myself, but I just hate the people who shove ships down your throat. Like, you can ship whatever the hell you want, but I don't wanna hear about it. That's mainly my problem with Hetalia. It's not like that anymore, but back in the day, people were so obsessed with their "kawaii desu countries" (that hurt to type) that if you had the audacity to not agree with the craziest crack ship to exist, then you were a horrible person, and would be witch hunted to death.
I can probably take a wild guess as to why the people in the SU fandom are so terrible; that show has a lot of body diversity in its characters, its' pretty lgbtq+ friendly, it pushes a lot of agendas, ect. And the most extreme example I can think of is when people attack artists for changing the weights of the characters because oH, yOU'rE bEIng fAtphObIc or some shit like that. And for the shipping, Jesus Christ, don't get me started. And yeah I can agree the FNaF fandom is a little annoying. I made animations of FNaF songs and got shit for making the genders of the animatronics VS. dead kids wrong, and I hated making videos of that anymore, whoop, out I go. Except drawing the characters is fun.
Also, that's the same thing happened to She-Ra: The Princess of Powers. Most of the people thought that the show is bad because it has nothing to do with the 80s original. While the 80s cartoon was not as good as the legendary He-Man himself, I think it's solid. The reboot wasn't even closer to being "bad" at all because of the LGBT representation or pushing feminist message. I've seen a lot of videos made by anti-SJW channels talking about how "woke" the show is. So what's the deal with the LGBTQ community being "woke" in the first place? The queers are human beings, too.
*ahem~* Fandoms I’m kinda in but not really anymore cuz drama- Hamilton Heathers FNAF Homestuck(not really-) Undertale BHNA Danganronpa Splatoon(trying to get into-) Aggretsuko Gacha(I HATE THE COMMUNITY SOMETIMES CUZ DRAMAAA-) And others that I can’t think of-
I used to be part of the Hamilton fandom. It is common to separate the actual people (Thomas Jefferson, ex-president and writer of the Declaration of Independence) and their musical selves (the angry sassy pink dude) A couple years ago, an artist headcanoned the musical version of Alexander Hamilton as trans, along with other LGBTQ+ headcanons for characters. The characters were not drawn in an offensive way whatsoever. It's common nowadays, but wasn't back then. They ended up getting so much harassment about their headcanons that they left the community of their own accord due to mental health reasons. That right there is toxic.
For the hell of it of course List Of Fandoms I Am In Or Were In That Have Bad Rep: Hetalia Undertale Rick and Morty Steven Universe FNAF Weebs (I used to be one thank god I'm over it) Tumblr, just Tumblr Anime fans as a whole Emos I have a lot of toxic fandoms...
Story time: I was in the splatoon fandom once and I didnt ship two characters. Guess what happened? Whoops! I got death threats. I drew a character pale and thin once. Oh no! I offended someone! More death threats. I grew out of the game, and explained it in a blog, then said I was leaving the fandom. But oh no! Triggered nine year olds sent more death threats. Story time *O V E R*
Cookie Run: Kingdom: Awesome family-friendly RPG story game with lots of cookie characters and game modes! Cookie Run community: Painfully unfunny adult jokes and no appreciation for the game. It’s a shame that a decent game is hated by many because of the people, and not the game.
I tend to leave a fandom when it's mote toxic than fun. Recently, I left the Killing Stalking fandom. It ended and those who aren't making art are bashing people for how emotional they got from the ending ( people are STILL crying about it). I left undertale fandom as soon as the arguments about Mettaton's gender started. I also quickly left the dream daddy fandom after the "genderbend Damien fan art" incident. Cause you can't genderbend a transgender who NOBODY knew was trans until someone questioned the smallest clue.
While this video is a year old and I only recently saw it I must saw this video makes a remarkable and often overlooked point. It's ok for something to have fans but I dont think even the creators want fans that take the work to seriously. And like you said the fandoms themselves are not the problem it's the people who are in it and it seems like most of them find a way to argue about anything. Hopefully someday in the future fandoms can bring people together and not tear them apart.
I've literally seen the eddsworld fandom burn before my eyes..I'm an OG fan, probably before Edd's passing, and god..once the new episodes hit and people were shipping characters,I noped when Tomska left
I'm apart of the Undertale fandom and I've haven't had that much toxic experiences in it. once tho, someone on Amino told me to kill myself because i like Papyrus. (Not like romantically i just like his character)
Honestly personally I think the more toxic sides of a fandom are often over stated so it can ruin it for everyone else who just enjoys the piece of media.
Hecking-Heck I didn't know cookie run, a game about cute little cookies running for they're life, was even close to the "Fornite effect" (basically meaning something that is ok and kinda stupid is praised like a god....I enjoy cookie run tho-)
Just let people like things. A fandom isnt toxic. People who act toxic get a hold of things and suddenly its all ruined? Plus the creators of the fandom are often to blame, harassing creators happens when something is actually being done wrong. People get into fandoms to share opinions and express themselves and although it can get out of hand, at the end of the day its either a phase or all good fun.
It's unfortunate, really. I've stayed away from Undertale until a few weeks ago because of the fandom and because I really didn't want to like it because of it. Now, I love this game. I'm always frustrated when good things get ignored because of something like this. But really, I've had the worst experiences with the homestuck fandom.
Sometimes it is best to not interact with fandoms. I like Voltron still, the aliens being the best part of flat, personality humans. The Voltron fandom can make you wanna jump off a cliff.
Voltron is the first thing I thought of. It's so toxic there were groups of people apparently getting weapons and attacking people who work at dreamworks cuz they wanted klance to be canon it's actaully stupid
Tooru Oikawa exactly. Keith and lance are two TOTALLY straight characters but the fandom just wanted it so bad. I loved watching voltron but thanks to the fandom I just can’t watch it anymore.
For me, the most toxic fandom I was in was K-pop. More specifically, Blackpink. I left the fandom a long time ago but I still listen to their music sometimes.
Respect for Skullgirls in the background. And I agree to what you said.I was in the FNAF fandom when it wasn't THAT cringy. And it turned cringy after I left it. It's because those underage craps who's parents dont check their phone or something, turned them into GACHA FEMBOYS. CONGRATULATIONS,THEY MADE IT SUPER CRINGE. Same to Harry Potter,Countryhumans,Animal Crossing,DDLC,BATIM,Yandere Simulator,Undertale,BNHA,Voltron,Steven Universe,One Punch Man,other animes,Danganronpa,Ace Voltron(crap they even got it),MLP,Piggy,Little Miss Fortune,Splatoon,HOMESTUCK(YES PEOPLE THEY TOT IT TO A GOOD GAME),Mother 3,Kirby(I cant believe it Kirby is my favorite Nintendo Charachter),Zelda(Yes peeps they got it into a popular good game.Actually wtf.),Mario(yes guys they got it into a great childhood game),Sonic,Peppa Pig(Same like Piggy),Fran Bow,idk what else, comment please. I hate what fandoms have become into.
From what I’ve seen, it’s very rare for fandoms to be decent. I’d like to say the kid icarus fandom isn’t one of the toxic fan bases, but I wouldn’t know, I’ve been there for a few months at best.
every fandom has its bad side, and is usually the minority. The problem is that that minority is often very, very vocal
I agree.
I also agree.

It’s the horrible truth
Same for FNaF...
Tiny TeacupZ The fan art is great (on Pinterest, there’s surprisingly no NSFW for most fandoms unless you probably search for it).
I love Steven Universe too, and I also think the fandom is terrible. Full of SJWs who ignore the fact that the show is literally about equality and treating each other with love and respect.
Sadly, me too
One of the most toxic fandoms I've seen (in recent times) is the Voltron fandom. Some of those people are completely brutal and entitled. So many death threats and other insulting stuff have been sent to the show's creators from these so-called "fans."
Shit like this is why I'm glad I stay away from fandoms. I just enjoy my goddamn cartoons by myself.
Exactly. The Voltron fandom has gotten terrible.
AvenRave ik it isnt the same thing but most kpop fandoms are VERY toxic
ranging from obsession to attacking group members to even actual death threats

That's sad :( I've only met nice people through Steven universe
I'm in the twenty one pilots "clique" (fandom) and I like to keep to the memeish side, yknow the side that just have fun and don't harass people. Well. The other side has people faking suicide, mental illness, loooots of gatekeeping, "fake fans" and shipping(oof). It's disgusting and honestly disappointing for a band based around stopping bullying and raising awareness on mental health issues.
I literally had a friendship ruined because they became a toxic TOP fan
I love TØP, they saved my life and I’m seeing them in July. But the fandom has gone completely off the deep end. I wish it wasn’t like this because the whole message they spread is to bring people together to help fight their Blurryface (or I guess now their bishops). I can’t stand Joshler, even though I know it started as a meme. Some people just take things too far.
painful accurate
I'm not in the fanbase myself, but they do have some very good songs that I just genuinely enjoy. That's all. I don't see why we can never just enjoy something together without being a "true fan".
Late to the party, but I have to be honest, I get worried about the CR fandom at times and I’m really sorry if you experienced something pretty bad in it. D:
Some of these points direct my thoughts to certain people I’ve met and what had past gone down in the community and personally, I feel like I have to tread carefully in it at times and not say/do the wrong thing because I REALLY don’t want to anger the wrong people.
Homestuck
Bnha
Voltron
Try to reply with terrible fandoms, any medium counts!
Undertale
Steven Universe

@@StrawberryNUKE ahh I see. Thank you for elaborating on your comment. And I apologise for the crass reply towards you
Fanbases are nice.

How to tell that a fandom is toxic:
-Ship Problems
-Fanart mistake
-Different opinions on each character
-Sending death threats to the voice actor
-Tryna find smth to argue abt
-Bombing hate comment
-Some garbage ppl like Miss Zi Zi said
Cough cough, genshin fandom ):
*Please read all before commenting!*
That sounds 100% the:
MHA fandom
Fanf fandom
Spongebob (Its now tamer then it used to be)
Poppy playtime (I think its somewhat tame but there still major issues)
It's mostly the main problem in the fandoms I mentioned is the shipping problem also the pedo ship problems
And the Victim X Bully ship problems that most people ignore (basically the ones who ship them)
also the amount of bullying that goes on if you dislike or disagree with a ship like for me I personally dislike the (Deku x Bakugo) (Michael x Ennard) and (Spongebob x Squidward)
(Ps the last one is very concerning cause spongebob was the main reason squidward had depression idk if they still have that in newer seasons tho cause currently I dont have access to the newer seasons)
But i think the newest fandom that had a bunch of problems was the Encanto one like a whole lot of mess was happening there...
the Poppy playtime fandom still has some big problems like 1 still not getting over the fact that Huggy Wuggy and kissy missy are a confirmed couple/better halves
(Also why does everyone assume if your the opposite color of someone your instantly siblings?) 2 I think theres some type of fandom war going on about theorys and other people pushing there own head cannons onto others or something similar
So yeah that's all the fandoms ik that have a bunch of problems
(this comment wasn't trying to be rude or offensive but I was just spreading information) *Sincerely Mousey*
Thank goodness I’m not in a fandom that’s considered toxic, the Yuri On Ice fandom is pretty casual from what I’ve seen
The Sonic fandom isn't that bad besides the division of fans, memes, rule 34, etc. but the fandom is pretty tame in my opinion, a little wild though.
The sonic fandom get less bad when 2016 rolled around
Yes. And most of those things happen in all fandoms anyway.
While I dont know much about the sonic fandom, I wouldn't call it wild, Isn't it just christian sonic memes.
@Tiberiu Zamfirescu no, watch the fandom files by TheRPGMonger, he shows why the sonic fandom isn't quite as bad as other fandoms!
The first thing that pops in my mind... Voltron
from my experience in fandoms known as toxic:
-vocaloid: super nice, great memes and shitposts and AMAAAZING songs
-Genshin Impact: one of the best communitys I've been in, everyone is nice
-UNDERTALE: I remember there being cringe amounts of e d g y but some of the like multiverse animations were really good
-Danganronpa: i hate this place, get me out of here
Same story for the musical theatre fandom.
I remember a time when both the Undertale fandom (which I am a proud member of) and the FNAF fandom teamed up just to harass an innocent developer for trying to create a Five Nights at Undertale game, forcing them to cancel the whole project; truly the darkest moment for both fandoms
As for the My Little Pony fandom, I think their darkest point may have either been when a bunch of them started sending death threats to one of the show writers for writing Pinkie Pie out of character in one episode, or when a small group of them basically started a cyber bullying mob to go after one of their own just for not being the best director for a fan project... while she spent *months* fighting some illness that wouldn't go away.
I love all of the fandoms that I'm in, although 99% of them are considered toxic.

In 2016 the voltron fandom drove me to self harm and nearly doing something terrible, so sadly not an exaggeration. Ironically I wasn't even really in the fandom, I was on tumblr.

Voltron- Klance shippers can be toxic (not all, but some)
Invader Zim- People who ship ZaDr and don’t age up Zim and Dib. Or sometimes just Dib. I’ve seen people say that Zim is 160 in Earth years and Dib is 16 and they make them kiss and stuff. PLEASE age characters up to the rightful ages.
Kpop- there’s too much to even say I-
Anime- Not aging characters up and shipping very abusive things
Gravity Falls- So. Much.
Not to seem stinky but Viv said he was Aro but it's fine if people ship him with other characters as long as it isn't harming anyone
What do people do? Be stinky and argue over stupid things like that
@DrearMeteor 8535
yeah. When did Viv say that? I don’t remember lol.
*After rereading this i realized i sounded aggressive, that wasn't my intention, so sorby :,(
ZIM IS NOT CANONICALLY 160, This is just a headcanon made up by fans that people choose to follow!
I think there’s a difference between a “fan base” and a “fandom”. Fandoms seem to be comprised of more...unstable and vocal individuals
i remember hearing a story about the voltron fandom about how someone took a tour to the studio voltron was being produced in. the person that took the tour took photos of spoilerish storyboards and posted them on twitter. the studio asked the person to take the photos down, but the person said they would only do so if they made one of their ships canon in voltron, which was klance (the shipping between keith and lance)
•
Chill, you don't have to pretend to kill yourself because a character from a game is "cheating" on you with the oc I had back then.
Well Zi that's quite the exaggeration
In my opinion the Sonic fandom is actually one of the least bad fandoms, because it doesn't have anything that makes it stand out among other fandoms like BTS, Undertale and Steven Universe.
Makoto Naegi It’s just very memey.
Makoto Naegi when you think about it the only remarkable thing about the sonic fandom is that they have the most porn
@@stellarlight1387 and even then you wouldn't get to see it unless you looked up sonic porn intentionally.
When most people hear the word undertale they either think 1. What the heck is undertale 2. Oh that toxic fandom
I love undertale and the way the game thinks outside the box by just design and by the characters.
It's been going strong for like 3 years, you think someone would've called a doctor by now.
undertale...at this point it has been reduced into a bunch of 9 year olds shipping any character with sans
I feel bad for the creators of these fandoms. They just wanna just wanna make a game/a show/a book/media that people can enjoy. Anyone else?
P. S this is the longest comment I've ever written.
Me:
0% paying attention in the video
10000% paying attention in the gameplay
Summary: tumblr
"No such thing as a garbage fandom" What if the source material is garbage?
COUGH RWBY COUGH
(from season 3) Rick and Morty, Steven Universe wich also falls under the category of "identity politics", FNAF, Voltron (i don't think it's that bad but it is kinda meh)...
Big Blue are you talking shit about the trash pack fandom? U better not fella. Nuthin persanelle kiddo. *left eye gloes*
@Marika Staňková idk man, it's actually pretty accurate aside from a few minor details. The characters are eeeh though. Really the songs are the only thing I come for.
@Marika Staňková true
What makes a fandom good or bad is the amount of:
1: positivity
2. Welcoming people
3.safety : (meaning how often can you be safe from people who can hurt you)
4. Maturity/acceptance of ones ideas
5: how often would they ban wagon attack people.
What will make a fandom toxic from the start:
I immediately thought of Voltron when you said what comes to mind when you think of toxic fandoms
A lot of fandoms popped into mind for me.
Using fanart, remixes and everything nice... But god accidentally spilled some CHEMICAL X into the mix
genius
In most fandoms there’s the main 4 sides.
1. The Shit Bullys/The Toxic
2. The Ones Who Just Enjoy The Game
3. The Innocent
and last but not least,
THANK YOU!!! it's definitely individuals that can be shitty, but yeah some fandoms have way more bad individuals. i'm pretty disgusted with the situations that have led to s**cide, especially in fandoms that have always seemed kind and pleasant. overall, i wish people could just enjoy what they enjoy and not harass other people unless their ideas and actions are problematic (disturbing ships, threatening creators, doxxing, etc.)
steven universe should be in the thumbnail lol
1 healthy fandom you never met before
Ace Combat Fandom
Toxic Fandoms that I've been in/are still in
-Hetalia (still in)
-Harry Potter (still in)
-Black Butler (still in)
-Attack On Titan (still in)
-Warriors (left)
-Undertale (was in for like, 3 minutes)
-Death Note (left)
-Five Nights At Freddie's (left)
-Creepypasta (still in)
-K-pop (still in)
-Mystic Messenger (still in)
-Vocaloid (left)
And a few more.
Yay skull girls gameplay in the background. Thank youuuu
most ppl: insert infamous series has worst fandom ever
me: you havent even seen cookie run, yokai watch (2016-2017) Paper mario or tokusatsu fandoms
And genshin, which moved into the cookie run fandom and made it more toxic
*ahem~*
Fandoms I’m kinda in but not really anymore cuz drama-
Hamilton
Heathers
FNAF
Homestuck(not really-)
Undertale
BHNA
Danganronpa
Splatoon(trying to get into-)
Aggretsuko
Gacha(I HATE THE COMMUNITY SOMETIMES CUZ DRAMAAA-)
And others that I can’t think of-
I used to be part of the Hamilton fandom. It is common to separate the actual people (Thomas Jefferson, ex-president and writer of the Declaration of Independence) and their musical selves (the angry sassy pink dude)
A couple years ago, an artist headcanoned the musical version of Alexander Hamilton as trans, along with other LGBTQ+ headcanons for characters. The characters were not drawn in an offensive way whatsoever. It's common nowadays, but wasn't back then.
They ended up getting so much harassment about their headcanons that they left the community of their own accord due to mental health reasons.
That right there is toxic.
For the hell of it of course
List Of Fandoms I Am In Or Were In That Have Bad Rep:
Hetalia
Undertale
Rick and Morty
Steven Universe
FNAF
Weebs (I used to be one thank god I'm over it)
Tumblr, just Tumblr
Anime fans as a whole
Emos
I have a lot of toxic fandoms...
Help I don't wanna be in the homestuck fandom
*Hussie please give me my soul back*
*YOU CAN'T FIGHT THE HOMESTUCK*
OKAY, BUT IS NOBODY GONNA MENTION THE SKULLGIRLS IN THE BACKGROUND? peacock is the best child and nobody should disagree >:3
Peacock was kickin ass
for such a dark series, danganronpa has one of the easiest fandoms to make and retain friends in.
Cookie run in the thumbnail, I click.
I like the new updated style with the random video games in the back round. Looks really good!
*s o b s*
deltarune dont join this list pLEaSE
Sadly, it's seeming to join in. Which sucks.
Deltarune most likely will like the undertale fandom (nO nOt mY sMoL RaLsAi T-T)
It’s probably gonna fuse with the Undertale fandom since they’re basically the same series
It doesn’t matter if no one touches the cinnamon roles, it’ll be forever associated with the tainted profile of Undertale
*Sniffs in Ralsei porn*
One of the worst fandoms I have ever been in was the Once Upon a Time fan base. Holy wow that was a lot
Someone finally understands that it's not the cringe level that makes a fanbase bad-
I've literally seen the eddsworld fandom burn before my eyes..I'm an OG fan, probably before Edd's passing, and god..once the new episodes hit and people were shipping characters,I noped when Tomska left
Voltron after s7
It's unfortunate, really. I've stayed away from Undertale until a few weeks ago because of the fandom and because I really didn't want to like it because of it. Now, I love this game. I'm always frustrated when good things get ignored because of something like this. But really, I've had the worst experiences with the homestuck fandom.
Sometimes it is best to not interact with fandoms. I like Voltron still, the aliens being the best part of flat, personality humans. The Voltron fandom can make you wanna jump off a cliff.
But when all set and done, all fandoms are going to be sometimes toxic.
You forgot Overwatch. I'm serious. If you liquify Overwatch fanart and put a testing strip in there, the pH level comes out at 0.
I must say that some ”cannon” people in my favourite fandom is sending DEATH THREATS to channels who ship two characters in the fandom.
