It's been highlighted to me that I actually used quite a few expensive machines. Ok, yup! I used some machines. Lets go over them; The vacuum chambre that was used to stabilise and dye the wood - At no point do you need to stabilise wood to make a square. However, if you want to, I purchased this very cheap set-up from Ebay about 3 years ago for under £80 but I just checked and found one for £90. Inflation eh! I also mention in the video that you should get a more expensive one as mine is already cracking. The oven - Not toooooo sure what to say about that. The Pillar drill - Ok yes, thats a machine! That particular one is about 90 years old and it cost me £15 from a carboot sale. What if I had used a cordless drill? Would that be a machine? Should I have used a hand egg whisk drill maybe? Lets adress the most expensive machine I used. - The Laser Engraver. I appologise, as I should have mentioned this in the video, but YOUR square will work just fine WITHOUT a logo laser engraved onto it. I'm very sorry to be miss-leading. I have now amended the title of the video to be more accurate and less missleading. Thank you for your views
Nice work!!! To check the base for square: set base on its side against a stop, mark along inside, place brass stock against the stop, flip base and set against the stop, mark along inside again.
Great video. When flipping the square and marking I could see you contorting around with your right hand. I would recommend practising marking with your left hand. It is not as hard as many think. It takes a few goes and you will be doing it much more easily than when always trying to use your right hand even when it is very uncomfortable. It also enables more accurate marking - when contorting around with your right hand it is easy to hold the pencil at an angle accidentally and getting inaccuracies due to the error of parallax.
Yeah i'm not great with my right hand these days as I dont have feeling on that side. I've been told to start learning to use my left more but i've been fighting it a bit. I should put more effort into doing it. Thank you for your constructive advise and views. Much appreciated
I don't understand why channels like yours don't have hundreds of thousands of subscribers... Well actually I do, it's because YT earns more money with huge amounts of low effort slop than with quality. Let's rephrase then: I don't understand why it is that way. Thanks for taking the time and putting in the effort to film, edit and narrate videos like this one to share them with us for free! I appreciate that very much!
It can be soul destroying at times, but then you get great comments like yours. Thank you for your views. I've got 3 videos in the making at the moment so shouldn't be too long now.
