it’s nice to have the historical chit chat because it’s very educational. Understanding the origin makes one more appreciative and respectful to the present surroundings
It comes to something when the mews that served the big houses, are now THE houses, and the big houses have now been mostly chopped down into flats! I love your "waffles and walks" Hannah, stepping into the "world of luxury" (and a bit of history) for a short while!😊
I so look forward to these videos every Friday….I love it even more when there are 2 videos a week….thank you Hannah for creating them. We know they are a lot of work….❤
Hannah thx to you, I have learned over the years of watching your vlogs, what Mews houses really are! I think they are so unique & quirky! Thx for highlighting these today, as I didn't realize that there were so many different areas of London that featured Mews streets. Hannah you have a great knack of finding different areas of London that many people are unaware of, & provide a nice historical overview of the past & present perspective! I personally like these "London Area" vlogs, as I like to see how so many areas of London have changed over time! It seems like you are getting into more Fall like weather, & soon will be holiday timing! Thx Hannah for all your creative process of sharing these terrific vlogs every week! Stay safe Hannah, & see you next Friday!!!
In,over the quaintness of mews house but I’m not sure about the lack of natural light now. I loved this walk. It gives us a sneak peak into everyday life in London.
For those prices, I want a garden. I struggle to keep my lawn mowed but I love having trees …and squirrels! Thanks for the lovely walk and talk, Hannah. You do it best 😊.
It's Friday afternoon with Hannah great to be with you touring Notting Hill which is kind of a nice neighborhood as always I really enjoy seeing the beautiful places of London and this is awesome take care and Thank You Lady Hannah have a great weekend.☕🍵🇬🇧
Wow, these homes in London are absolutely stunning! The Mews House is like something out of a dream. The architecture and design are so unique and luxurious. It's definitely not for everyone, but I would love to live in a house like this if I could afford it. Thanks for the amazing tour!
I love the fact that your country preserves its architectural and historical beauty. Here in America, the beautiful old buildings average Americans love are demolished by the rich who seek to make another dollar. It's heartbreaking.
I couldn't agree more. Are you referring to California? We are disgusting at tearing down beautiful brick bldgs - that were probably horse stables at the turn of 1900s.
Oh my, I can't see me living in a tiny space with little or no windows, especially at those prices. Thank you for showing the other side of life Hannah. I love your videos and I'm really looking forward to your Christmas walk about! You present it in a way that I actually feel I'm right there with you!
I would definitely live in a mews house! Had a friend years ago who had one, and I adored it. Great video, Hannah, thank you for getting through the awkwardness of vlogging to take us on this tour. Loved every minute! Where has the year gone? Can’t believe Christmas is coming up so soon, but I am in the spirit and ready for it all! Have a great week!
I live on the South West London/Surrey border so prime "commuterbelt". A neighbour of mine sold their 3 bedroom house 10 years ago for £200'000. Same house is currently on the market for £525'000!!! Crazy prices!!!
My mother as a child, back in the 1920s, lived in the upstairs rooms of a wooden news cottage in the east end of London. The downstairs was still being used as a stable and mum said the smell of manure used to permeate your clothing and sometimes your food…
@ …unfortunately the mews caught fire and they were left homeless for awhile until luckily my grandad was able to save and afford to buy their own home.
My favorite videos Hannah! Thank you. By the way.. I used “waffling” in conversation this week and couldn’t figure out where it came from.. until today. ;-) Love the word! Thank you! Next.. I need to figure out how to use “faffing” (spelling?) in a sentence this week. Thanks again for all your hard work on these videos. They cheer me up and I feel like I’m chatting with a friend. Off to look for where your Barbour is sold in the US….
I love London as a tourist, I visit all the fancy places, no expense spared. At least once a year, and then i go back to my hometown in Spain. London is a place to visit, like Paris, Amsterdam or New York.
I feel ever so fortunate to be the sole owner of a freehold grade 2 listed terraced home with a garden in w2 5be. I paid £2.7mm in 2020 for my beauty, originally built in 1896. Renovations have been a typical nightmare, but rest assured ALL WORTH IT! I adore my community and am safely out of the way for every carnival, yet can easily walk to Portobello Road. Ooooh I just love London! And as I immigrated in 2019 from America, truly love your vlog, Hannah. You’ve taught me so much about my neighbourhood and surrounding areas. Keep on being your intrepid, talented self. 🇬🇧
Money has sucked the life out of All Saints Rd. It used to be very vibrant with people playing dominoes, etc. There was a good cycle mechanic, the guitar shop is hanging on as is the record shop. I remember before the Notting Hill and Westbourne areas were gentrified it was great. Love your videos though Hannah even though I'm a Londoner. Keep waffling. You're very entertaining.
Hannah-the plan is; a Mews house for the sheer romance of it! Then, a Cotswold cottage, for the dog(s), and BBQ! Surely, there's an Estate Agent out there, who could gainfully employ you , and resolve this accommodation dilemma, for you? I love the 'no filter/not polite enough' USP! Imagine THAT! An honest estate agent...'First time' an' all that! Enjoy your w/end, love sue xxx
What a fun walk! When I lived/worked in London in the 1950s/60s, I used to seek out mews as shortcuts when walking from A to B. Mostly in Marylebone. In those days, mews weren't as gentrified as they are now, but still full of character. Probably could have bought a house then for a fraction of the eye-watering freehold prices you were showing us! 😳
Hi Hannah! Loved your jacket! Great tour! The mews are so stinking cute! I'm older now and I enjoy the peace of the country side. Your tour as always amazing!
That was a surprise, I’ve stayed in the Ascot Hotel, wasn’t great, lovely to see it in this video though. I’m not sure if it’s changed but there used to be a great cafe underneath it where you got a mountain of toast with your breakfast, good times!
“It’s giving Lockdown walks.” Aw! That’s how I found your channel! ❤ Loved the Marmite analogy to the mews house: I think for me it would depend on the particular mews, but I’d probably opt for a regular terrace house all things being equal, lol! Thanks for the explanation of the term “mews” as I’d always wondered. Another fun video, Hannah! 😊👍🏻
Love, love, LOVE this video!!! Always enjoy your appreciation for history and architecture/design (I'm an interior designer). I always daydream about living in a mews house; gives me a sense of security that it's ensconced in it's own little haven. Thank you for this. ☺
Love love now Notting Hill mews flats. So many hidden gems. Stunning decor with the window/ door colours and plants. As a frequent remote worker I love watching your videos ar the end of a work day and I feel like Ive had an outing. 😊 Thank you!
Hannah thanks for another wonderful fun video. You put so much into them and we know it's not your regular job. You have such a knack for making us feel like we are just taking a walk with a good friend. I visit London annually because I love it there. Maybe you should consider having a meet and greet for your fans in the summer.🙂
Lovely to see those old photos. I would definitely live in a mews house 😍my favourite mews in London is Kynance Mews. I have a drawing on my wall of the archway by a London artist! And of course Joes home in 'You' I did go to some of these mews last year ☺️I like the brick exposed ones and I don't like all the dead trees in pots haha I'd keep it tidy and I'd love to have my horses nearby!! Do you ever do videos outside of London? Maybe a day trip somewhere to one of the national trust properties or somewhere for the day? I love the Cotswolds and NT homes! Lucky enough to go to a lot last year 😍 thanks for another fun video
Loved it! I also loved the potted gardens! It works, just like balconies that have greenery. I would love to live there if I had a few millions laying around!
Hi Hannah, one of the best vlogs. I love your way of talking about London. I really appreciate when you pause to explain the historical background. It's really pleasant to stroll across London with you. Please do a vlog about the City or Greenwich or Royal parks in general. ❤ Sorry for my English but I'm French 😊
Love your chatty walk abouts.. definitely reminding me of lockdown walk abouts. Loved the Mews tours then, love them now. Can't believe it was 4 yrs ago! Time flies. Thanks Hannah.
Hi Hannah I really enjoyed the vlog. ❤️ You always make the videos interesting, educational and unique ‼️ As you know I prefer the countryside 😊 As a matter of fact I am enjoying the peace and quiet of the countryside as I watch this video ‼️ I am excited for all the future Christmas videos ❤️ I hope The Queen of RUclips has a special weekend 😎
It would sure be fun to see inside those homes. They're unique. Its good these buildings are being utilized, rather than tearing down historical properties. The prices are crazy high. I don’t think i'd want to live in one. Great vlog. Thanks for sharing.🥰
An old boyfriend of mine lived in one of the mews houses in Notting Hill (many, many years ago when I was young and dateable lol). Although they look small, I think good design makes them look much bigger inside. And they are amazingly quiet to live in.
I used to work on a fruit stall on the corner of portobello and West Bourne Park Rd in 1982. Charlie Collins had a double lock up, he used to stockpile his fruit supply's. up in the mews that went up from his stall. Someone bought it and turned it into luxury flats. In 1985 a double fronted fruit shop, with a basement plus to upper floors went for half a million. It was near the iron bridge on Goldbourne Rd. Property was pretty cheap their in he mid 1980's
Love these walkabout tours , Hannah. One of the things I love about London is the architecture and you show it to perfection. The mews houses looked great but not good value for money in my opinion , but each to their own. Saying that it would be nice to have money to have the choice of buying one ! Thanks for posting.
Great video Hannah! Waiting for the Christmas videos you do. Would love to see neighborhood decorations, Christmas Markets in London as well as any Christmas Tea videos from locations that you haven't done before. Keep up the great work, you're my personal tour guide to London.
The navy doors DO look very chic. I ❤ the history you shared in this one and the lease hold vs freehold information was really interesting. Your Walk and Waffle episodes are just the best! I loved your Lockdown walks. ❤ from Texas
Once got lost in Park Lane Mews last 2011 and fell in love with some of the houses there... similar to these. Just by looking at the big windows without blinds, people who lived there were rich. Nice walking vlog.
Always up to wonder the streets of London with my mate Hannah❤ I would prefer a flat to those mews. Absolutely adore your comments, natter and humor. ❤❤
Happy Friday, Hannah! Another wonderful vlog. Loved the history lesson about the mews and the houses there. Property values are crazy everywhere. Recently saw new construction (no houses yet) as I was out driving for work with prices starting in the $900K range. I just wonder where the money comes from. I hope this finds you well and that you have a fantastic weekend! See you next Friday!
The streets have real character to them. Topsham in Devon has the same types of houses with lots of character. I love cobbled streets. Thank you for this video.
The planting in the mews reminds me of some of the smaller Dutch roads where people also make little gardens with pots and bistro patio furniture to green up and extend their 'property' outside - very pretty
Hannah, another outstanding video! Thank you for all the images and information. In the late 1970’s I visited someone who lived in a mews residence in Knightsbridge. You are right, it was quite dark inside. They also had sheer curtains at the windows to stop people being able to look in. It had been renovated but was nothing like the ones you showed in the realtor postings. Would I live in one? If I lived in London, yes, and a colourful one at that. Loved the outfit, 5ft 4 ½ inches of pure dynamite. You look awesome in it. Have a good day, afternoon, evening whatever applies to you. Luv and hugs from 🇨🇦
Property prices in London have reached ridiculous levels. I remember when some Mews houses were still being used as small businesses. Most are now gentrified.
I was so happy to see this coz thats why i started following your channel, you had mews videos. I love them..... they are so unique. I have been looking at listings for fun for years and here are somethings i noticed. -There is one mews in central London that has a garden at the back. -Most have added a second floor (UK) thats slightly backed off the edge and that floor is mostly all light and has space for plants. - some have dug basements and have dug a lightwell in the front of the house! Not my favourite way to get light in The best way to get light in was this one house where they added that second floor and made the roof partially out of glass so the stairs get light from atop. -There are some corner ones that have windows on two side 😂😂😂 -And i think Rishi Sunak moved into a mews house 😃 Thanks for this .... any news video is a great video
As always, love it. Lord, yes, if I had the means, I’d live in a mews in a minute. Honestly, I’d live in a closet under some stairs if I could afford to move there. Perhaps, I’ll get to fulfill my expat dreams in another life! ❤😂
Great vlog as per usual Thanks for the mooch and faffing, really enjoyed the wandering. If I had £4,000,000 to spend I’d buy half of Wales, I really wouldn’t buy a ton by house with no garden Looking forward to Christmas vlogs big time, see you on Friday x
The rows of mews definitely have a nice aesthetic and I'm quite impressed with the plants that people sustain even with the limited green space. I would like more natural light and possible more square footage for the prices that they are on the market for, though! The cobbles are unique and added to this really nice fall walk you put together
With this walking tour, I now wonder what the houses look like during Christmas, if they're as decorative like in America. Loved spending the hour with you as always, Hannah! Yay for the incoming two videos a week! 🎉
it’s nice to have the historical chit chat because it’s very educational. Understanding the origin makes one more appreciative and respectful to the present surroundings
Love your pod casts you are absolutely stunning x
Amazing 🤩😍
Nice
These are my favourite type of videos of yours dear Hannah. When you just walking around and chat ❤😊

Great camera work! Particularly like use of maps to provide perspective.🎉
Thank you very much!
Who doesn't love a mooch around smart properties. Another fun vid. Good weekend, Hannah.
Born and bread in notting hill worked a stall in portobello market in the 70's. 🇬🇧
I so look forward to these videos every Friday….I love it even more when there are 2 videos a week….thank you Hannah for creating them. We know they are a lot of work….❤
You are so welcome!
The Mews houses are so beautiful. I love learning the prices and seeing some of the floor plans. Walking around with you is definitely fun.

I’ve lived in one of the Mews, the gated one you went to, Alba Place. Cool place, 100% you hear the market though!
Oh my, I can't see me living in a tiny space with little or no windows, especially at those prices. Thank you for showing the other side of life Hannah. Brilliant. So happy to see my favourite Mews. The overcast weather makes for great footage with no glare.

I live in NW London and love a Hannah video! Thank you as always and wishing everyone a great weekend :)
My mother as a child, back in the 1920s, lived in the upstairs rooms of a wooden news cottage in the east end of London. The downstairs was still being used as a stable and mum said the smell of manure used to permeate your clothing and sometimes your food…

Too pricey for me but it’s fun to see what’s available in London and hear your take on things. Thanks.

Love the Mews...great alternative to a steel and glass condo.....London is very expensive !!! Great video Hannah 😊

Hi Hannah. It’s good to see a new video
Cool vlog 😎

I love the Mews streets, thank you for showing .x.
A great waffle and walk, really enjoyed it, thank you 👍👍
Love your chatty walk abouts.. definitely reminding me of lockdown walk abouts. Loved the Mews tours then, love them now. Can't believe it was 4 yrs ago! Time flies. Thanks Hannah.
Hannah, they should launch a national television award just for vloggers...I'm sure you'd win every year.
She could host Strictly on her own! A perfect blend of Tess and Claudia
@@elochlin She has certainly got the looks and charisma.
They did and “mashtag Brady” won it
No, TV has restrictions. RUclips doesn't. She's a free agent and thank God she is.
I’d vote for her! But I like her on RUclips so she has more freedom and I love her honesty ❤

It's all thanks to those Russian Oligarchs.
Not my favourite way to get light in
The best way to get light in was this one house where they added that second floor and made the roof partially out of glass so the stairs get light from atop.
-There are some corner ones that have windows on two side 😂😂😂
-And i think Rishi Sunak moved into a mews house 😃
Thanks for this .... any news video is a great video
As always, love it. Lord, yes, if I had the means, I’d live in a mews in a minute. Honestly, I’d live in a closet under some stairs if I could afford to move there. Perhaps, I’ll get to fulfill my expat dreams in another life! ❤😂
Ha same!! Thanks for the support!
Great vlog as per usual
Thanks for the mooch and faffing, really enjoyed the wandering.
If I had £4,000,000 to spend I’d buy half of Wales, I really wouldn’t buy a ton by house with no garden
Looking forward to Christmas vlogs big time, see you on Friday x
The rows of mews definitely have a nice aesthetic and I'm quite impressed with the plants that people sustain even with the limited green space. I would like more natural light and possible more square footage for the prices that they are on the market for, though! The cobbles are unique and added to this really nice fall walk you put together
With this walking tour, I now wonder what the houses look like during Christmas, if they're as decorative like in America. Loved spending the hour with you as always, Hannah! Yay for the incoming two videos a week! 🎉
