This is one of the best switchers I have used. It's right there with the ATEM Mini Pro in terms of what it can do and also outdoes it in some areas. One thing to mention that I forgot that I don't think it does USB to hard drive direct recording. I actually really like the feel of this one a lot - build quality-wise and functionality-wise. edit: Thanks for the kind words! 🤓
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thanks also for the great guitar video with Gerald Undone and all the great guitar RUclipsrs! I was preparing to buy an ATEM mini pro, but was turned off by the lack of outputs. This video sold me on the 0402U. I'm really impressed with the features in a switcher this compact.
In your video at 2:41-3:02 you use the T-Bar to cross switch to the other video input. Am I the only one to notice that it fades to black between each input? A cross dissolve should not fade to black but input to input. I watched it a couple of more times to be sure I'm not seeing things and it does it every time you switch using the T-Bar.
I appreciate all the work you've put into your review videos and it's helped me think about the different products out there. This switcher's abundance of adjustments is great but as a live switcher I noticed that at 6:43 and the audio as a gamer section there was a definite drop in volume of your voice when you added the game audio input. Yes you adjusted the game volume but I am not sure if you noticed your voice volume dropped. Once you removed the game audio input your voice audio level jumped back up to it's original volume. This gets my grey matter working and trying to figure how to do a work around and I wonder if you could use your Rodecaster to get the game audio and have full control during live streaming. Hmmm, lots and lots to think about.

Great review, I have an additional question re: the use of logos and lower thirds that might need the keyed? I often have need for 2-3 lower thirds in a broadcast. It would be great if all three could be accessible via one button push and show on screen (regardless of which HDMI input is live). This function alone would allow me to not need a laptop. Other systems I've seen can place one lower third via the keyer but require you to either control via laptop or change the LT/Logo selection via menus. Any insight? thanks.

Hi Nestor. I recorded into a hardware encoder/recorder called the Pearl Nano. The Audio delay can be adjusted easily thanks to the audio menu options to sync it up. It's common to have a delay between an external mic and the HDMI signals due to the latency difference but that can fix it up. If you are experiencing options switching try a short fade transition. Some older computers can't handle recording very well and OBS can be a tad tricky to get a nice recording directly from USB.

HVS0401 is just the simplest video switcher. HVS0402U is more powerful with more layer overlay, 2 PIPs,1 LOGO,1 DSK, 1 background layer,1 Choma key /Luma key. More complete sound mixing function. More powerful media management functions, better and more stable USB output, more convenient control software, and so on.
@@AVMATRIX_PROAV oh thank you very much to reply me i have a last question a would like to start a podcast i've got 2 camera already and a monitor for multiview and i wondering if it was better if i take the HVS0401 or the HVS0402U
@@AVMATRIX_PROAV is this 8bit processing unit? or 10bit?
I tried to connect my Canon RP to it and the AV Matrix didn't recognize it. Do you know what might be the problem? I connected my laptop via the USB-C and it recognized it. Is there some setting I'm missing???
Canon cameras have a hard time with a lot of switching consoles. I think you need to check for a firmware update and see if that fixes it (for the camera)
Please What's the difference between the elvid vsw-4h-usb and the avmatrix hvso402u?
Is it the same manufacturer? These products are same or what? Thank you
Hai sir this is senthil from India, last month I brought AVmatrix HVS0402U i have some of the doubts in switcher
1, I couldn't switch off the device I saw in the use manual press 3 times or shutdown from the software but it cannot.
2, I couldn't connect from the switcher to CPU or windows laptop that not sync.
Please rectify this doubts because I have no options to do, please do the needful
Thank you
Can this record internally?
No it can't but the unit I just posted a review of today can.
Hello, Please what external recorder would function with a roland v4 ex....its very selective with output recording on external gadgets
Can it record four video channels on a computer separate from the program output like the Atem mini pro ISO does
To my understanding, the ATEM Mini Pro ISO records to a locally-attached SSD rather than to computer. It can also record to computer?
i want this
Would be great to have another video covering the difference between capability difference to the ATEM Mini (pro) when it comes to Logo, PIP, Chroma, Luma, ...
I guess im asking the wrong place but does someone know a tool to get back into an Instagram account..?
I was stupid forgot my account password. I would appreciate any tricks you can give me
@Ayden Isaiah Instablaster ;)
Amazon UK link is brand for jackets lol fyi. Great video though.
Sir would you suggest me how to record the live events in this switcher. Should I use a external recorder or any option for SD card record in the unit?
Would be helpful
Thanks in advance
The easiest option would be running the unit into OBS (free) and recording that way.
Hai bro how can I download a AVMATRIX software for Mac do u have any link ? Bcz in India we didn't get the Mac version so pls guide me
I'm taking delivery on the AVMATRIX VS0605U which is the upper model to this one. Would you say this box is noisy?
You hear the fans when you turn it on and then it's pretty quiet.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy Thanks, I'm taking delivery on a AVMATRIX VS0605U on Monday. Pretty excited about it. I'm going to put it on the frontend of my vMix system. That 402 unit has some things like upstream and downstream keyer that even the 6 series doesn't have.
hello sir, can my hd 720p projector work with this video mixer ? coz the only pgm output / multiview at 1080i/1080p.
edit: it has 16:10 aspect ratio
I am not 100% sure it may squish the aspect ratio unless the projector auto-detects a different input like computers can?
@@GeekyNerdyTechy oh okay, maybe it will auto fit the aspect ratio
i have an older (Shinybow SB-5605 4x1 HDMI Optical Digital Switcher w/ RS-232 Control V1.3) is this too old or can it still be used?
It’s got a power on/off button. Nuff said. 😝
You left out loading in a logo on usb
That'll happen when there's a million things a device can do.
Awesome review ! Got to know Mini Pro just got a Firmware update which allows any of the normal PC monitors, even 720P to be used as Multiview Monitor with Mini Pro. With this switcher, can a 720p monitor (normal PC HD monitor) be used for Multiview ?
I had this connected to a 31" computer monitor while I was filming and it worked fine :)
Great video Shane! Any chance you could test the usb out of this switcher and input to the usb in on the yolobox? That way we can have 6 hdmi inputs and stream without a laptop.
Because I have both bought for testing I tested to connect the HVS0402U with USB out to the Yolobox USB in. It worked, but I don't checked it for a live stream if it is handled without hiccups.
easy test for audio sync ... clap your hands .... check the video and audio and adjust accordingly.
It seems superior to the atem mini pro... Day by Night Difference!
On the ATEM mini extreme, can I mix the audio, of two sources like you can in the avmatrix?
Isn't that a chinese copy of the ATEM MINI series. Even All the Buttons looks similar.
It’s an ATEM mini pro wannabe.
A SWITCHER TO PLAY VIDEO? YOU HAVE TO BE VERY IGNORANT AND WITH MONEY, THE LUMIX CAMERA IS VERY GOOD, BUT PUTTING A CAMERA FOR STUDY, WELL IF YOUR BUDGET IS VERY BAD, OTHERWISE A CAMCORDER IS THE PROFESSIONAL WAY TO WORK, BUT IF YOU ARE A TUBER MAKING PODCASTS, EVEN WITH THE PHONE, YOU DON'T EVEN NEED A SWITCHER, BETTER THAT MONEY IS SPENT ON TRIPS AND MAKING REVIEWS OF PLACES WITH YOUR DJI POCKET AND DRON
Your caps lock is on
Hi can you please Review the New AVmatrix shark S6
Hi mate, I don't think I'll be getting any more switchers like this from them until they hit the 4K standard.
@@GeekyNerdyTechy thanks for the feedback, I appreciate
