I'm 79 years old and for many years I expected to see the Beatles experience happen again. I'm not just talking about their music but the whole cultural revolution they ushered in. Alas, today I doubt it will ever be repeated and count my blessings to have experienced the phenomena when it happened.

I was 15 years old when I heard a song on the radio that gave me chills, like no other music I had ever heard. I asked someone who that was and he said it was the Beatles. Back then Rock 'n rolls was three chords and simple. The Beatles music was more complex and much more melodic. They didn't dominate music because of lucky timing. They were good and more importantly, they were unique.

As much as I respect MJ, he didn't really innovate anything. He was just mastering whatever was popular at the moment - disco, funk, synth pop, pop/rock, new jack swing or ballad... and he only released 2 great albums, one very good one, and one decent one. Beatles have been knocking out 2 albums per year ending with 13 albums in 7 years or so, almost each of which was a classic. They innovated recording techniques and popularized entire genres such as psychedelia, gave birth to album rock, helped to pioneer prog rock... I'm not even talking about popularity and cultural impact they left... how many artists now quote MJ as his main influence? I think Justin Timberlake is probably his most famous successor... while Beatles inspired almost all bands formed in late 60's and early 70's...ranging from purely pop bands like ABBA or ELO, ending on metal gods Black Sabbath. This can never be duplicated.

Michael had musical talent; the Beatles had it all : intelligence musical genius, genial songwriters , chemistry. personality. Humble beginnings yet loads of self confidence and I can go on but we all know it when we see it. It’s magic. Who knows about the future not sure our planet will have another shot at such joy and magic. I’d guess no but I really do not know. The Beatles had:
    High motivation and strategy
    Enormous songwriting/arranging talent
Unique good looks that set them apart
    Great band/performing synergy
Two great vocalists, two acceptable vocalists, and four great instrumentalists
A big head-start when they were young
    All that practice in Hamburg
Brian Epstein to manage them so they could concentrate on music
Many lucky breaks in a row at the right time(s)
A classically-trained mentor and arranger with high standards (George Martin) to shepherd them through learning how to record
An accidentally helpful time in cultural history (after the JFK assassination)
The Beatles would have had less impact if they were not terrific performers of their own material and 'stage-worthy' guys with reasonably good looks and attractive personalities. They had innate street smarts about their career goals and many key people added along the way to help them.
When one of those key people disappeared--Brian Epstein died--then the four tried to manage themselves and that led in turn to greater interpersonal frictions, which led to catastrophic business issues that further aggravated the interpersonal problems which took years to smooth over, if not really ever fully resolve.

ChipsAplentyBand That says it all. You hit the nail right on the head. All those things had to occur and fall into place as they did for a phenomenon as big as the Beatles to occur. They were the soundtrack of my childhood and many others. It wasn't an overnight success, and they certainly paid their dues. If Brian Epstein hadn't been asked by a customer for a copy of My Bonnie by the Beatles, this whole thing would have never come to pass. That fan, whoever he or she was, got the ball rolling and spiked Brian's interest to go see the band at the Cavern. And the rest as they say is history. What a great band and a great era for music. The Beatles' influence and impact on world culture was fully comprehensive, complete, thorough and unprecedented. There was nothing like them before or after. complete and utter anomaly. As impressed as subsequent generations are with these statements of fact about The Beatles - including your thoughtful self - you truly can have no idea of what it was about them that made them so singular. They were the closest thing to the miracles one finds in the Bible. The closest thing to divinity on Earth. There can never be another entity like The Beatles. Looking back, it's astounding to me that they even existed. They quite literally changed everything. The day after they appeared on The ED Sullivan show was something like the V movie "The Dy After" which was about the effects of a nuclear holocaust. That's the closest parallel I can draw to the dramatic difference The Beatles had on human culture. In just one day. But whereas in that movie it was devastating, The Beatles effect was the opposite . With The Beatles, their effect was: life-affirming, hopeful, energetic, loving, peaceful, comical, self-discovery, self-realization, etc. Good luck to the planet Earth in having this lightning strike twice.

Someone with the potential to be a paradigm shifter like only Louis Armstrong, Elvis Presley and The Beatles were capable of. Angelina Jordan has only just turned 17 but has gained exponential attention over the last couple years as possibly being the, quote, best there ever was, end quote. I spelled it out on purpose. To make a point. Because although such things can be subjective, as it turns out Angelina Jordan is probably the next big thing after The Beatles. What she brings to the table, her energy, the way communicates a song, is an amalgam of all that came before yet entirely new. Having never listened to an Ed Sheerhan song I couldn’t say he was remotely in the league or comparable to the Beatles- may 20% similar- but MJ & Madonna for a while were hugely impactful & influential as well as extremely popular. I’ve seen no act since I’d even compare to the Beatles magnitude- if musical acts were stars, Beatles=Sirius then Ed Sheerhan is maybe Castor? I dunno but I like your idea of 80 year cycles and hope I’m around in 2044! I’d be 93 😆 But like you said, the circumstances were perfect for the emergence AND evolution of The Beatles and they seized that opportunity with the grandest 6 year ongoing show I’ve ever witnessed- to say they changed the world is accurate- to say they changed my life is undeniable.

We kind of had it in the UK with Take That where the public grew up with a boy band who grew into musicians. They didn't have an impact in America though. The appeal of the Beatles was that it reached across all nationalities and ages. So if we have them again, it will have to be with a type of music genre that appeals to young and old.

It is impossible. There was a window of opportunity in the technology where music performers could get global but there were few communication channels. From the 50s to the 90s. From Elvis Presley to Nirvana. After that, the options exploded and everybody could have his own preferred music. Universal phenomena are not possible again.
I was not here when the Beatles sang but I lived the Michael Jackson experience. The entire planet listening "Thriller". MTV was beginning, there were no music channels in Spanish language, for example. This cannot be repeated.

With the current dismal state of music I can't see there EVER being another group like The Beatles simply because there'll never be another Lennon-McCartney. The Beatles were one of those "greater than the sum of the individual parts" phenomenons.
My opinion make not make Beatle fanatics happy but here goes....I did not really become a fan until the Rubber Soul LP. That's when they veered away from that chuck berry junk and began writing songs the piqued my interest. I heard I want to Hold Your Hand and She Loves You so many times on a Miami radio station it drove me nuts. To this day I can't stand them. Later on Paul and John came up with some really good tunes as well as a fair number of duds. George had maybe 12 songs I really like but alot of his solo stuff is uninteresting. Paul, in my opinion WAS The Beatles....his tunes were upbeat and melodic whereas John wrote monotonous songs that would be right at home in a funeral parlor. He also had a few gems along the way....through it all he had a GREAT voice. (his politics sucked though).
No, there will never be another Beatles. Glad I was here to witness their genius. Can't help but wonder if they would have succeeded with Frankie Avalon haircuts and Fabian clothes.
