We were lucky to film a sloth bear in the jungles of Tadoba in Maharashtra, India. We did get a glimpse of those long claws and captured it in our video. Locals fear the bear more than the tiger. They say the sloth bear is a formidable opponent and even a tiger many a times stays away from challenging a sloth bear. We were lucky to film it for our channel.

There's a saying I heard from a wise man, especially regarding Sloth Bears. "You're only as good as the company you keep." Considering that Sloth Bears have to contend with predators like Tigers and Leopards on the daily while trying to survive out in the wild, it makes sense that they can be so viciously.
Btw they are like the terriers of bears. Big cats see them as a (not-so) happy meal. But that's only if they manage to subdue one. kinda have to be a scrappy psychopath to survive alongside tigers. I've seen my fair share of screen adaptations and even the best such as Chuck Jones' "Mowgli's Brothers", Soyuzmultfilm's "Maugli" and Andy Serkis' "Mowgli: Legend of the Jungle" don't even look like sloth bears, especially in the case of "Maugli" where he was changed to an Asian black bear, but at least his diet matched. It is a shame, because they are truly a unique looking species.

Ok, only partially true. He was frustrated about not getting the watermelon and then took it out on the other bear. And yes, they are very dangerous. They kill more people in a year than grizzly's and Alaskan brown bears have in the last 20 years combined.

When they were first discovered, scientists believed they were ground sloths thanks to their shaggy fur and long claws. Of course… they’re not sloths at all, but a small bear species.
