A massive chunk of that is datasheets, not actual rules. It's kind of like how D&D has rules for each class, it's not something that every single player needs to know by heart

Warning if you wanna use orks, the amount of dice they recommended will not be enough. Orks work by rolling bathtubs full of d6s

That's how it all begins. Soon you will be so interested that you will check out some lore, than you will buy just a couple of minis, than you'll want to play a game with them just for fun, and year later you've spent hundreds on dollars on this stuff.

@@viatka1966 Not entirely true, I LOVE 40k lore and have been following it for years.. but I've never bought any minis and have no desire to. I get people love playing it but it's not for everyone.

Im an AoS player and always got confused when my friends talked about 40k but this video has really helped me to see how the rules arent too different

@@BAGELMENSK 18 wounds toughness 8 and 4+ invulnerable safe and 5+ feel no pain . Has a skill that within contagion range ( 9 inches for morty) enemy units can not be affected by auras .

Is there any chance we can get a video like this going through how to set up your army? I *mostly* get the point system, but everything to do with battalions and detachments, and all the different types of units like HQ's or Fast Attacks, is still a mystery to me.

We have some confused (newer) players due to the description from 23:30
"Since it's Assault D3 I'm rolling 3 dice to see how many shots I am making"
I know it's becuase you're firing 3 Venom Cannons simultaneously, but you dont say this in the video, just that you're firing the cannons and that you roll 3 dice to see how many shots you get because it's assault D3. Please can you clarify this? Thanks!

This is giving me flashbacks of my first (and so far only) 40k game, I still remember having to roll 21 dices. It was worth it, I annihilated an entire Smurf unit, I mean Ultramarine unit and my thirst for blood was satisfied (despite all failing rolls being a 1)
I don't know if I'm ever going to play this game but I love this content.

Am I wrong in thinking there was a misplay at 23:35 when referring to Assault D3? Matt rolled 3 dice rather than one and dividing - wouldn’t the move he made be referred to as 3D3 since he rolled 3 and divided each of them (not sure I’ve seen a 3D3 occur before)? Apologies if I come off as critical, I don’t have much experience and want to make sure I’m learning correctly lol

Personally I'm a big fan of the necrons and the orkz, and then for sub factions the ones I know most are space marines chapters, and am a big fan of the space wolves and white scars.

Thank you again for this guide, but I do have a question about army building. For a 3,000 pt battle, I want to bring in a Knight Castellan and a Knight Gallant for a Black Templar army. How do I do that, with reinforcements? A Super Heavy Auxiliary Detachment?

I learned to play in 8th but do not fully understand the changes in 9th to start playing so i kinda gave up on the game. This was just what i needed!
There's not nearly enough here to get you started playing 9th. I'm brand new to the hobby, 1 month, I've learned nothing from this I couldn't glean from wahapedia. They missed ALOT of stuff just in the deployment phase
Nah man I felt like it was quite dompting at first to move from 8th to 9th but honestly there are only a very few changes like the objectives, terrain, coherency and blast weapons. Overall the game is a better experience and improved upon 8th edition. Everything they stated in the video is still up to date except for the death guard rules and data sheets because the new codex dropped recently 😁👍
There should be a small note about Objectives here. the GW official rules state that in order for you to take an objective on the table it is 3 inches from the CENTER of the marker not the edge. big tournaments frontline's and such differ on this. Some are from the edge. Before you start a game you should always find out what the group is going by. It is not always the same.

I use the dnd dice roller online, much easier than haveing a bunch of tasty choking hazard dice lying around.

When you rolled for the d3, you missed your chance to explain that, you had 3 models in the unit, so each weapon shoots d3 times thus the 3 dice. Only reason I’m saying this is because a new player might have misconstrued that information as d3 = 3 dice/2 for shots.
