Thanks again for tuning watching!

Hey, thanks so much for watching! I have a few vintage voigtlander lenses for M-mount that I have been using on my S5 with an adapter. My favorite is the incredibly small and light 15mm aspherical wide angle, which is featured in a video I made on vintage lenses on the S1 if you want to check that out, here is the link: ruclips.net/video/wsyfyukFCQ0/видео.html It’s hard to recommend any lenses I don’t personally have experience with, especially not knowing what kind of images you want to take. I have the 15mm f/4.5, a 25mm f/4 and a 75mm f/2.5 and they are all pretty small and compact and I use them with an inexpensive M-to-L adapter. The newer voigtlanders from what I have seen look a bit heavy and chunky, and that doesn’t appeal to me as much since I like to carry smaller/lighter gear. I would decide what focal length and aperture you are most interested in and do some research to find the right fit for your needs. There are so many great options available, and we all have different criteria for how we select what gear is the most suited to our own needs and preferences. All that said, here’s a link to one that looks pretty interesting to me, bear in mid I don’t have this lens and have never used it. It’s a Voigtlander Nokton 40mm f/1.4 amzn.to/3z1Okn7. This lens at 40mm is a little more practical focal length for everyday use than the extreme 15mm wide angle that I have, which is best suited to landscape and architecture. This one would be more ideal for travel/street photography, low light and even some portraits, although I generally prefer more like 75mm or higher for portraits myself. You will also need an adapter to mount this lens to the S5, here is one that is only about $15: M-to-L mount adapter amzn.to/3RR6dNW It’s important to note, M-mount lenses are manual focus only and they need an adapter for your camera mount. This is a great lens , and packs a punch way beyond it`s` weight in the glass world .....I use this on my Leica SL (601)... its my first choice when I go out .....and it looks cool .
Hey thanks for watching Randy! That's a tough, complicated question to answer. The AFC is faster and more responsive on the LUMIX kit lens. The Sigma seems a little sluggish, although I haven't done extensive tests at different speeds/settings. I am sure someone out there has done these tests though, so you can probably find one on RUclips. I wouldn't really compare the Sigma 45mm to the kit lens, since they are dramatically different by design. The kit is an everyday zoom, and the Sigma of course is a prime with wider aperture. They have different purposes and produce different kinds of images. I do really like the Sigma, although I have to point out that the f/2.0 lens I used to shoot some of this video is actually a vintage Leica M lens, and it's manual focus only. The Sigma at f/2.8 isn't quite as bright, but it's pretty close. Thanks again for your question, I hope my answer is helpful. :)

Just waiting for some cheaper ones to pop up and then I'll pounce, probably. This one is absolutely nice, and if that 50 didn't just come out.
Hey Brian, thanks for watching! I agree, if you want something solely because of the AF, I would go with the native Panasonic 50 f/1.8. The Sigma is an awesome lens, and I love the ergonomics of it and it feels like an old school film lens, so it's very comfortable and tactile in hand (for me). The AF will be faster and more responsive on the LUMIX tho, just due to the fact that they are making both body and lens to work together so that is an advantage. Also, the wider aperture is always nice too. :). I have been eyeing the new 85mm f/1.8 myself. I get by with my vintage Voigtlander 75mm f/2.5, but having AF for that price is very tempting! I am sure you will love whichever lens you end up with, just depending on what features matter most to you. Thanks again for watching and sharing your thoughts.

They are all really small and compact and have green or red markings that make them look really unique, so I can appreciate your point of view. I do wish I liked my Pentax camera more, so I would get more use out of the Pentax lenses. I have an adapter for them to the L-mount, but it's kinda big and chunky and it just kills the elegance and sleekness of the lens designs, so I don't enjoy using them on L-mount as much as my Leica M lenses. Such a bummer, those lenses are pretty sweet, they deserve to be used more.
I also hear you on the focus peaking, it takes some getting used to. I have come to like it a lot tho, as my eye sight isn't as sharp as it once was. Thanks for watching and all the shop-talk, and I hope you enjoy the holiday as well]. :)
04:59 thats my city.
mine too! thanks so much for watching :)

Hey, thanks so much, Roberto! :)
What were you autofocus settings?
Hey thanks for watching! I switch up my AF settings, depending what I am shooting. I use AFC with face detection for people. When I'm out shooting cityscapes and buildings, I usually switch to one area + AFS or manual focus.
@@graphiknation thanx, that lens looks good
@@jlaws80 You're welcome, I really am enjoying this lens! I hope you enjoy it too if you decide to pick one up. :)
👍
hey, thanks so much for watching Alex!
This lens is very soft, wide open....and I don't know why!
You are too close
@@ChrisM-yq2pq You're funny:))
That initial focus seemed to be on your teeth and not your eyes...... or is it just my old eyes?
Hey Tim thanks for watching! I’m not sure what part of the video you’re referencing, but I think the Sigma was locked on and tracking my face/eyes pretty well. This isn’t a full AFC test/review, but I’m sure there are many videos like that to be found on RUclips if you want that level of detail. It’s also important to note that there are some scenes in this video where I am holding the Sigma lens, and those were shot in manual focus on a Leica M mount lens at f/2.0, which is harder to shoot and stay within the narrow focal plane. Thanks again for watching and your comments.
@@graphiknation yeah, it just seems like at the start it is more on the teeth and then towards the middle of the video it is indeed on the eyes..... but then again, I need glasses these days.... I understand the rest of what you are saying and you are correct. Having said that, I love your work. you have a good eye.
@@TimotheosEnterprisesMedia thanks so much Tim! 😀
