Animal Crossing - Forest's 17th Anniversary Town Tour

- For the 17th anniversary of my Animal Crossing (GameCube) town of Forest, I've decided to make a new nostalgia-filled town tour. I show the attractions around town, speak to most of my villagers, and I also overlay some old clips of memorable things that happened in various spots around town.

The in game year stops updating after 2030. It's be amazing to see someone witness that happen in real time.

I have already looked up the calendar for just this occasion. In 2031, your old town will become essentially unplayable... But if starting a new town, you can dial the date back 28 years to 2003 and all of the dates will line up with the correct day of the week and leap years will be correct too. The only real-life holiday that wouldn't match up (as far as I know) is Easter, but since there's nothing in the original Animal Crossing for Easter, it's no big deal.

@@RH-xp7ju right, but it's Animal Crossing. The clock no longer going forward means that the game is, for all intents and purposes, unplayable. Nothing will function as intended, seasons won't change, holidays and events will no longer occur, etc.

The villagers seemed to have so much more personality in the GC game. I love how cranky the crankies and how actually snobby the snobby ones were. It makes them more endearing for me lol
They straight up call you an idiot. I think it built character for me as a kid 😂 now villagers are just ~wholesome~ and I kind of resent it.
It makes me like the nice ones better :P
Which is why i would always set them up with pitfalls
dayum son it’s weird that you guys say they were so mean. I don’t remember them as being mean because I actually gave them chances and continued to talk to them and let them grow and develop as friends. They become nicer. It’s a shame you guys didn’t get to see how cool that was. 🤷🏻♂️
Just started this game shortly after getting ending on new horizon. Played this game, and realized the villagers are a lot meaner

Unfortunately, I don't remember who my starting villagers were. I had no idea I'd still be playing the game many years later, much less have videos and a blog about it, so I didn't keep track of things like that back then. It's possible that one or more of them may have been original villagers (perhaps Candi?), but there's no way of knowing for sure.
I wonder how many times he cycled through all the villagers.
Jeff you're going to make me cry from watching this all. I haven't played my Animal crossing save file in over 6 years now and I'm going to get a nostalgia trip from this video
The memory card that had my town from like, '04 got corrupted and my town was lost years ago. Still upset about that.
I’ve been watching your videos since 2006, it’s mind blowing that you’re still so active with your animal crossing content! Your videos make me super nostalgic and stay connected to my childhood again. Thanks for keeping it up. I lost my memory card that came with animal crossing that I had been playing since 2002, I’m pretty sad about it but I’ll live vicariously through these videos

2002 lol simpler times for sure. i remember staying up late playing this game and wandering around catching fish and bugs when everyone was asleep. the music is so nostalgic. congrats on 17 years

That's an interesting idea, but I probably won't do that. I think I'll want my new town to have its own identity.

Animal Crossing (PG, WW, And CF) should get a rerelease on Switch for the franchises 20th Anniversary, along with Animal Forest on the N64 and Animal Forest e+ as an added bonus for the collection.

Still have my brothers wild world cartridge we use to share back in 2005, but the cartridge doesn't work anymore and won't turn on. Seeing this makes me think about my carefree childhood. Congrats on keeping it so long. It must hold a lot of sentimental value.

No, the golden trees are different from money trees. They're actually from burying a shovel in the daily glowing spot. The tree, when fully grown, will drop one golden shovel when shaken, and the leaves stay golden forever.

Hey Jeff, I started watching your videos and subscribed to you not too long ago. I played City Folk back when I was 12 and recently picked it back up again (not the same town, though). I also played New Leaf about a year ago, and I'm getting the original AC game soon :) I'm really not the biggest fan of the ACGC graphics normally, but your town is beautiful. I can't believe you've been playing the same town for so long! You said in your Q&A video you'll keep playing like normal after the ACGC clock stops in 2030, but when that happens, the year will go back to 2000. The town will have tons of weeds, a lot of villagers might have moved away, etc as if you hadn't played for *30 years.* But I guess you'd be ok with that, since you've kept the town this long. Speaking of, have a lot of your villagers moved away over the years? I would think they would have, but gosh, Belle's been there for at least 7 years, Static for 9, and Emerald for 10!
From what I've heard, 2030 just repeats...it doesn't go back to 2000. So I don't think it would be a huge disturbance. Although I might want to set it to a different year so that the days of the week line up correctly, at least. As for my villagers, 13 of my 15 villagers have remained the same for at least the last 10-12 years or so (after I stopped using train travel in my main town). I don't know if that's true for everyone, and I don't know if past train travel has somehow caused it to work that way, or what. But that's the way it's been for a long time.
It was great seeing your town. I miss having so many villagers for sure. I remember being scared of Baabara and Wolfgang on my game cube AC, they were both so mean!

I have also been playing Animal Crossing on the Gamecube for just as long as you and I do still play it about every few weeks, but your videos have been giving entertainment for the past 12 years, and I actually started making my own videos because of watching your channel and It is good to see someone who also plays Animal Crossing on the Gamecube. And In My Opinion, the Gamecube version is my favorite game in the Animal Crossing Series.

17 years!! That amount of dedication is mind blowing. I'm sorry to say that I abandoned my GC copy for City Folk, but I'll forever cherish the good memories this game brought. Thank you for making these videos and for never leaving your animal friends behind. Keep it up man :'^)

As a longtime fan of yours (since around 2013), this actually made me a little teary-eyed. I’ve loved AC since I was very little; it was actually the first video game I ever remember playing! It’s great to see someone with so much dedication to their town and villagers.

I loved the original Animal Crossing so much as a kid. I didn't play any AC games since then until New Horizons came out and I've had so many moments of nostalgia for things I barely even remember. I've binged a ton of your videos in the past couple days and it's been like opening up a dusty old jewellery box full of shiny things. It warms my heart that there are people still enjoying the original even after 17 years..!

I've always wanted to play the GameCube animal crossing, but never had a chance. I have a GameCube and every other western release in the series, but I've never been able to find a copy that isn't completely overpriced. It doesn't help that I'm European and the game wasn't released in Europe until 2004.

I love this, it was so charming! I played AC gamecube obsessively as a young teen but I haven't touched it since probably '06 or '07 (in favour of the later instalments) and this was such a lovely trip down memory lane.
