Great video. Thanks. Keep them coming. How do you approach flies to use nearing dark? I don't get out in the morning often. I generally get out for the late bite. Are there any tried and true flies, colors, sizes, tempo, moving into evening where it's critical to figure out the timing on?
You might check the Montana fly co (MFC) site for the Scorpion. The big parachute in it should be on the catch flies site. It's the daytime hex I believe. Not sure there's videos on either yet but it'll get done eventually.
Alex, I really enjoy your videos. However, most of your tips seem to be oriented towards fishing from a boat. If I’m fishing from a boat, I’m probably getting all sorts of input from my guide. So I think more tips for the wading fisherman (which is me 90-95% of the time) would be much appreciated.
Yes, they have been so far. I think I've got a plan to film some wading stuff this weekend. Way easier to mount the camera on the boat and go but i have been thinking about it for awhile now. I was thinking a few different dry fly techniques and streamers while wading for sure. Anything else you'd like to see?
@@alexlafkasfly-fishing9088 Wow, thanks for responding so quickly! It would be cool to get a close up look at some of the flies you’re using/talking about. I don’t always recognize the names you use, or if I do, I suspect your version might be different than what I’m envisioning. I wish you tight lines!
It's great to see some Michigan focused fly fishing content. Keep it coming!
I'm working on it. Dog days right now but once water temps drop a bit there will be more.

Typically I run the dark stuff in low light, black, purple, blue or olive. That usually fires in the low light angles and especially sunset to dark.
@@alexlafkasfly-fishing9088 thank you sir. I've been on the summertime struggle bus. Can't wait for fall and winter here in Pennsylvania.
Where can I find the photos/viedos of the flies you used in this video? :) Thanks!

Ben's a huge fly fisherman, and he sucks at fly fishing.
That sounds about right. Which is great because now neither you or Ben will catch anything
