    I was wondering why trp operon functions exactly opposite to lac operon, because trp is repressor while lac is inducer. Thanks for the video.

      When you have enough trp in the cell you don't need to create enzyme that are producing trp that's why trp is a repressor of trp operon. Lac operon works like you need to create energy (no more glucose to use) but with lactose so lactose induces the production of enzymes that can metabolize lactose. Hope that will help

      also note that lac operon leads to metabolism of lactose, while the trp operon leads to the anabolism of tryptophan and most of the ones like this are repressible

    respectfully, isn't typtophan a essential amino acid which means it cannot be produced by us. Im just kind of confused

      Yes. Tryptophan is an essential amino acid, meaning humans cannot make it.
      This video shows how bacteria (like E. coli) can make their own tryptophan.
