I think i forgot to mention that I used the pitch on the 202 a lot during this process! almost every sample that went in had some sort of pitch adjustment done. I will make another video about this because I want to show it to you all properly...will post soon!
i know im randomly asking but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account?? I was stupid lost the login password. I would love any tricks you can give me
I have had a 202 from back in the day never really used it as had a 950 at the same time , messed with it a bit but never sold it , just started messing with it love the sound
Using a similar set up. Got the 404sx, and the 202, but then I'm using the Korg Es-1 to lay down drum tracks so I can DJ the effects and mutes on the drums separately.
@@spvidz The Es-1 is a sampler with a 16 step sequencer exsctly like you see in a daw. So I just have a bunch of 1 shot drum hits sampled into it, and program my drums into the sequencer. I usually make a couple different patterns to switch between for each song. That, along with rocking the mute and solo tracks give you some good varience for drums rhythms in your beats. You got 9 pads to work with. It's has some good effects, and sound sculpting possibilities too. Imo you can really get your drums to crack with it. There are newer Electrictribe Samplers, but I like the old school Es-1 for the vintage feel and character it has. It has high functionally for being an old sampler tho, so imo It's worth it. They are relatively cheap actually.
Did you pitch any samples at all on the 202? Or even in a DAW first? I find that's the function I go outside of the SP for the most - the 404 pitch effects are pretty bad... Cheers brotha!
Hey man. Totally forgot to mention that and it’s one of the main reasons I now love the 202. Yes I pretty much repitched every sample that came in. I like the vibe it gives the sample over a DAW. I do have serato sample to do the same thing in ableton but it gets a nice wobble with the 202. I need to do a video about this alone as it’s so nice!
@@spvidz nice man yeah definitely eyeing the 202 next. Does the 303 have a pitch effect ? Would you say you like the 202 or 303 more if you had to choose
It does yeah but its similar in standard to the 404sx if I remember correctly. Not sure how they ruined it so badly haha. The 303 is also very cool and I plan to spend some more time with it soon. At the moment the 202 is winning for me though but as an fx unit essentially and not as full beat making device. Definitely more scope to make full beats with the 303 but you can't beat that grit the 202 gives...!
Nice one man, glad you like them! I think I have somewhere haha. Need to get it up to date and I’ll start adding the link in my bio. Thanks for the reminder 👍
@@spvidz Will do thank you! Just quickly. Might have been mentioned elsewhere sorry, can you apply effects such as vinyl sim on the 303 on the ext source on the fly as well? Will be using maschine for the beats and either the 202 or 303 for the effects.
Do you use the memory card a lot for the sp202? Is there still enough sample time without one? Was thinking about dropping some cash on one... some of the available ones dont have the (extortionate) memorycard!
There is a quick note in the video to say I don’t have one. Makes things a little more painful obviously. I think I get about 15s on standard record mode! Just about enough for some loops. Like you say they are expensive - more than the box itself. I’ve seen that a lot of people buy old digital cameras as they have them in and you can pick them up for dirt cheap!
I know man yeah its killer isn't it. I think this latest driver update might have fixed it but will see...Don't want to buy a new interface and have the same problems. You on mac or pc?
Fair man i've been having the same issue on mac so maybe its the drivers. Have a look on their website see if you can update. You might need to adjust your buffer size as well
its not easy tbh you gotta put the time in and listen to as much music as you can - that's the best way to find more and better samples. Keep digging man! I'll post some content about it soon
spvidz thanks, i once searched for like 4 hours and only found one good sample :/ should've been more... I know that might not sound as much, but it should be easier, that's why I'm asking you for help!! And ofc how to flip em on the 404sx after finding it. Would be a great video!!
Just takes time man, a lot of time really. When you find one that works search artists around them for similar sounding stuff - That usually works well
you should put the tape on all streaming services. soundcloud's app is terrible. also the tape is a vibe, should have more views than this video lol. had to sell my sp404, but ill have another one soon and hopefully the 202 and 303 as well. it is nice to get away from the comp.
Hey man yeah I may well do that too! I agree SC seems to be going really down hill at the moment - I only realised shortly after uploading this. Glad to hear you will be back in the game soon!

@Abdullah Brock instablaster =)
Always dig these tutorials and tips. Got a friend into the 404 and I’ll definitely be pointing him to your channel!
Appreciate that man! Thanks a lot
Thanks for your generosity in sharing these tips! Looking forward to more of your excellent demonstration videos - showing always beats telling!
Thanks Rob, more coming soon...! Glad you found this useful
Once I get my SX out the box and out the closet I know your videos will be hella helpful, so thanks in advance and from Seattle!
good stuff man, I'm sure they will set you on your way!

Very nice man, good thing that you held on to it. I love running stuff through it just for the grit of Filter 1!

@@_samtaylorrr get a 202. I prefer my 505 over the 303, they're both very similar. The only things like a 202 are expensive. The sp1200 etc.
i don't even own a sp404, but these videos are sick mate. might have to get one
Haha that’s amazing. Thanks for watching. What gear you got?
@@spvidz don't have any hardware atm, trying to get into it tho, i have a po33, but that's about it. Been looking into buying a sp404a
thank you for this, mate!
No probs man. Hope it’s useful. Thanks for watching 🙏

Thanks for the insights!
No problem
Can you use the pitch effect on the external input sounds or do they need to be imported in before you can use the pitch effect?
You have to record in - it must use internal memory. Check out this video which has more info about the FX ruclips.net/video/gdtHluVCcOo/видео.html
@@spvidz Thanks for the reply mate, checking the video out cheers
No problem man, hope it helps you out! Let me know if there's anything else you want to see about the 202

Pretty sure with the 303 you can use all the fx on the fly and you don’t have to sample in
Inspiring!

Possibly yes. Where do you live?

I got my sp202 for about 75 pounds think it was worth it? Also is there a limit for how many tracks you can have at once?
Yeah that’s a good price. Not sure what you mean by tracks though? The 202 is just a really basic sampler
The memory card costs at least 100$ so it was worth it lol in fact it was too cheap.
Users of multiple SPs - Realistic Tape Control Centre. You're welcome.
ah, first comment.... neat.
I thought you were going to demonstrate the technique not just explain....but thanks anyway
Will do more of that in the near future for sure. Thanks for watching
